Sarah Maxwell had spent years trying to forget one man. She buried herself in her family's business for nine years, trying to forget the scent of his skin and the way his body felt against hers.
How could one night mean so much? Do so much damage?
Self-made and very successful businessman Falon Wolfe can't get a certain luscious redhead out of his head. He travels the world turning failing companies around by any means necessary. In his private life, he’s hardly without female companionship. But no one gets in. No one stays.
At the request of his grandfather, Falon finds himself at Maxwell, Williams and Blake, a place he vowed never to return to. Sarah Maxwell stirred something in him he hadn’t felt in a very long time, and he wanted nothing to do with it.
What he did want was Sarah, as many ways as possible, while he was in Chicago. And when the job was done, so was she. That’s the way it worked with Falon Wolfe and the women he bedded; always had and always will.
The past has caught up with them. A future together looks impossible. The only thing either of them knows for certain is being together means they will both have to learn to break their own rules.
I really like the story unfolded in this book. It was a twist on a second chance/lost love book I have never read before.
Sarah and Falon Wolfe are the main characters who have a past, and have crossed paths once again. When Falon comes in to turn around the company Sarah works for, she can’t believe her eyes. Falon was definitely an alpha male who tried to control everything in his life, include his self-control. It turns out to be a fight they are both prepared to fight dirty to win.
The heat in this book was pretty high. The way the scenes were written made me hot around the collar, and by collar I mean panties… There was enough tension and fights for control it made you wonder just who would be the top!
I understand that this was an ARC and probably not edited, but there were very simple mistakes that made the flow of the book choppy and hard to follow at times. Also, there were some scenes that were briefly skimmed over that I felt needed more detail. With that being said, I can’t wait for more from this author in the future. ~ Devlynn, 3.5 stars
I'm in serious like with the big bad Wolfe. Falon Wolfe, and all of his intricacies are what made the story likable for me. He's consistent, unapologetic, and in spite of his faults, I sympathize with him. Sarah Maxwell, on the other hand, was incredibly hard for me to befriend. She started off perfectly fine. It wasn't until her history with Falon began to unfold, coupled with her present intensions in regards to their relationship, that I started to grow frustrated with her. There was a genuine piece of her that I loved and applauded--but that piece of her was twisted and warped in her own head, making her actions contradictory and leaving me completely unsympathetic when I think I was supposed to be on her side. Nevertheless, I'm a hopeless romantic so Elle definitely had me turning pages (even when I was so annoyed that I was yelling at Sarah through my kindle!) until the very end.
I do wish that the details that defined these characters were treated with a little more care. I think they could have been embellished, making the story just a little more well rounded. There were a few holes in the plot line that left me scratching my head and the unedited version that I was given had me distracted a bit as well. Finally--there was something about Elle's word choice that made the steamy parts more lukewarm than hot. I totally appreciate where she was trying to take me, but there was timidity there that was definitely noticeable.
All-in-all, though, it was a quick read that I don't regret. The story managed to pull me in and I wouldn't discourage you from reading it!
Big Bad Wolfe by Elle Doolittle is a stand alone book that I was really looking forward to reading. I enjoyed this book, I did think it would be darker than it turned out to be, not a bad thing just surprising.
The story is set in a company that is not doing well and Wolfe is sent in to save it from going under, this is were he meets Sarah, They share a secret Sarah immediate recognized but Falcon Wolfe is a little slower to put the pieces together. Something keeps " tugging at his memory" he just can't figure it out. Wolfe is taken with Sarah but will not allow himself to loose control with her, he is there to do a job and get it done fast. It isn't until they go out with others from work does Sarah decide to test him and this control. One kiss can stir a lot of emotions and they are both ready to explode, but even after they connect, they both fight for "control". There is a moment when they start to open but the tugging memory is reveled and totally misunderstood. Wolfe finds himself on the end of what he thinks is Sarah playing games with him.
This book is long on romance, desire, and sexual attraction, the final chapter is so sweet and romantic it melts your heart. The ending was just a bit abrupt. I wanted to know do the save the business when they save each other? Is there a sequel? Worth a read just for the end!
This is an entertaining story, and it's possible it can be considered a second-chance romance. I liked the characters and their interactions with each other, but there were times that Sarah frustrated me. Both Falon and Sarah have similar tragic pasts, although Falon had to endure even more unfair circumstances after his life was ripped apart with loss.
Sarah had an unfair advantage over Falon in that she remembered that night they shared years ago, and while at the end of the book she explains her reasons for doing what she did, but the way she went about her plan smacked of junior high school shenanigans, and I couldn't find fault with Falon being that upset by everything. I am hoping that we'll get a story about Marcy and Frank, because there were some hints that dropped about an incident from Marcy's past that needs to be answered (at least I'd like to know what happened!)
This book sucked me right in from beginning to end. Sarah was sweet caring I felt so much for her character then thier is Wolfe he is jaded, intense, cold thier was so much I loved and hated about his character but you have to read and find out I really enjoyed this story cannot wait to read more. *ARC received on behalf of bookalicious babes blog in exchange for A honest review.
Enjoyed this story, but was tired of them not talking to each other. They'd begin to discuss their pasts, but then something would happen and it would be two or three chapters before they'd discuss it again.
I thought this would be a quick easy read but it was any thing but. I struggled to get through this and it just couldn't hold my attention. For me it was just boring.
Almost a 4 but not quite The foolishness of youth – we all suffer from it but do we allow it to follow us into adulthood and would we hold on to something that was as fleeting as one night for 9 years, I think not but Sarah has done just that, after one drunken night at college and one amazing night with the guy of her dreams, it is over just as fast as it started and to top it off he has no memory of it in the first place – now to most that would be a blow to the ego that you would refuse to recover from but again not Sarah. The torch she carried for him was one that despite it all she just couldn’t let go. Now this I really struggled with – it made no sense to me but just as she had consigned him to the depths of her memory, he is back and this time the part he has to play not only in her life but that of her grandfather and his company may be more dramatic. Falon Wolfe was Sarah’s one nightstand, the one she couldn’t let go but he was also, the person that had consumed her thoughts at college, the man she really did lust after but when tragedy struck and she was left with nothing but a familial duty to help her only living relative, her grandfather, he was the one that she left behind. Falon was the only man that she had ever truly cared about, but all that was in the past because she really had never expected to see him again and she had convinced herself that he was the one that got away, the one that she had let slip through her fingers and that she would regret that for a life time. That is until Falon, is back, back to trouble shoot her grandfather’s company and to help save it from ruin and while she knows exactly who he is, he has absolutely no idea about the part he has played in her life previously but he has an inkling of how he wants to be a part of it now because there is definitely a pull between the two of them and while he may be dealing business when it comes to the situation with the company, when it comes to Sarah, things are about to get way too personal. The two of them dance around the houses a fair bit, they play a cracking game of cat and mouse but Falon has his walls built high around him and breaking through to the man beneath is not an easy task. Falon was a complicated man, he as a tough talking, no nonsense type of guy and in a way I quite liked that about him, but the relationship with Sarah was far from easy, the history that came to light between the two of them was complicated and in a way I found that I resented Sarah for the way she not only had behaved but for how she was behaving now. But in all I liked the story, I like the conflict and the attempts to resolve the mistakes of the past even through there were some aspects that bewildered me. I got Falon, although I wasn’t sure that I was actually supposed to and in a way I also got Sarah but not on the same level. The edges were a little loose and the story a tad on the drawn out side for me but it had potential and would like to know what happened to them afterwards.
Who’s afraid of the Big Bad Wolfe? Well Sarah defiantly isn’t as she just can’t stay away from him! Must say that I absolutely love the cover – all broody and mysterious – you can see why she would fall for a guy like that.
So you have Sarah who has spent the last nine years of her life trying to forget the one man she truly wanted but thought she couldn’t get. Well for more than one drunken night that is – well drunken on his side. After suffering from some devastating news Sarah goes to see a friend for comfort but comes across Falon instead. He calls for her motioning her closer to the bed and when she’s there they end up having the best night of both of their lives. Only snag is that when Falon wakes up he can’t figure out if the best sex of his life actually happen or if he has an over active imagination as the star of it is no where to be seen. After trying to search for her in the weeks that follow, and coming up empty handed, he decides to believe in his mind and live with the dreams that follow.
Nine years later and it looks like they are going to be put in each other’s paths again. Sarah’s grandfathers business is in trouble and needs help, which brings in Falon. He is a pro with turning failing companies around and agrees to help as a favour for his grandfather. When they meet up again Sarah feels like she has been soccer-punched, she can’t believe he is right in front of her looking as hot as ever. She can’t decide what bothers her more, that fate has brought him there to help them or that he doesn’t even remember her. The more she tries to convince herself that he means nothing the more he starts to.
You can see the chemistry between them straight away, bubbling beneath the surface just waiting for that spark that will set them off. When that spark is finally lit its gets electric – only problem is that Falon is holding back. Sarah can see he has closed himself off from the world and she is determined to break through his icy exterior and bring out the fire she can see that lies just beneath the surface. Once she does all bets are off with how hot they can be together.
The only thing that I found a bit annoying was the amount of spelling and grammar mistakes but once you over look that the story still holds true. It is a story that builds with sexual tension right from the start before finally getting Sarah and Falon together so if you are expecting sex straight off the bat you will just have to hold in there and wait it out.

To say that this story underwhelmed me would be a huge understatement. I found myself actually getting angry at how the book took a huge downward spiral after the bones of the story were laid out. The gist of it is this......
Sarah has spent the last nine years at her grandfathers company trying to forget a one night stand with a guy in college that she had a huge, huge crush on and after their one night he acted like it never happened. One would think after 9 years she would be over it...but....Her family company is on the brink of closing when her grandfather announces that he has hired a very well known company to come in and evaluate their company with hopes it might be able to be salvaged and flourish once again.
And I will give you one guess who the person is that comes to evaluate the company....yep..Sarah's one night stand who she has compared every man against since then...Falon. "Yawn".....
Falon arrives at the company that he has been sent to evaluate and is met by a very rude but cute employee....(Sarah). He has no recollection of who she is or the night they spent together. He evidentally spent alot of his senior year drunk and had many one night stands. It is revealed however, that they went to college together and that is when his "dream" is once again remembered. You see he remembers a "dream" from college. It was basically the best night of sex he has ever had. EVER. But since he cant remember the person he just chalks it up that is didnt really happen it was a dream. Really???
So naturally Sarah is mad he doesnt remember....and Falon is starting to fall for her now that they are working closely together.
The sex was "G" rated and took almost until you get to 60% in the book. Their interaction is stiff and forced. Their is also the sidekick, co-worker, best friend of Sarah's who tries to be tough and funny but just does not get the effect the author was hoping to reach. When Falon finds out who she is "the girl of his dreams", the moment is not what you would think it would be after almost 80% of the book being a big, long, dragged out climax. I found myself skimming alot of the book waiting for the big bang...and was left with a little firecracker. To be honest by the end of the book, I didnt even care if they make up and end up together... Very disappointed.

This was a fast, exhilarating read. Sarah is working for her grandfathers company after a tragic accident killed both her parents and her brother and the only remaining family she has is her grandfather. All she ever knew before has become background noise in her future her dreams, her aspirations and the one man who made her feel alive she has had to leave in the past. Or so she thought Falon Wolfe makes a reappearance and it's to help out her grandfathers company nonetheless, but he isn't doing it out of the kindness of his heart it's only to repay a favor owed by his own grandfather. Sarah never imagined she would ever see Falon again and reignite the fire that has been missing from her life ever since she was last with him. He has no recollection of ever meeting Sarah before but the sudden attraction he feels towards her is undeniable. The continuous denial of their sizzling sexual attraction only makes the story more interesting. Sarah can't help but feel heartbreak as she realizes Wolfe doesn't only wants one thing from her she confides in her friend Marcy to help her break down the solid walls Wolfe has build around himself he isn't the same carefree guy she fell for in college and she wants him to lose control and be that person once again. Her games only fuel him because he knows what she is up to and he won't allow her break him or make him feel. As the story progresses we only experience more passion, lust filled interactions and hot sizzling scenes. I really felt like the ending needed more I somehow felt like I had so many unanswered questions. I hope there is a continuation of Falon and Sarah's love story it was a second chance I hope they both get to live out.
So we have Sarah Maxwell and her grandfather introduced to us. Their agency is close to bankruptcy and so Falon Wolfe is called in to help pull them out. Little does Falon know that he has actually met Sarah before. But she seems like a dream to him. Of course Sarah remembers him and is not pleased to see him. At first she is very ticked off at Falon and constantly challenging him. That only makes Falon more determined to have her.
*"You know, I'm not accustomed to taking no for an answer," Falon said holding the car door open for her.
(...)
"There's a first time for everything."*
And let the tension and the games begin! The two of them are determined to outlast the other which makes for an amusing situation. Of course Falon is a very good player.
*The look in his eyes was purely predatory and she instantly felt the instinct to flee before he devoured her.*
Sarah spends more time with Falon and realises that he isn't what she remembers and is determined to thaw out that cold heart of his. Just when things look like they might work out for them, a spanner is thrown into the works. Will Sarah succeed in winning over Falon? Is his heart too frozen? Will he ever remember Sarah and that night? What was great about this story was the characters and their interactions. Marcy and Frank are fantastic and I love their relationship. Falon and Sarah are great together. Some very steamy moments for you all to enjoy.
The writing of this review has had me stumped for days. This book has presented me with such a conundrum that it has been difficult to put into words.
For 9 years Sarah has been reminiscing about one hot night in College with a man that does not compare to any other.
So you can imagine when this same man, Falon Wolfe, walks into her ailing family business to help turn its fortunes around that she is thrown off her guard. As soon as she sees him her attraction surface's but does he remember her?
Falon is your typical high powered businessman. He is aloof and does not want a relationship. But he can't deny the attraction he feels towards Sarah. He tries to stay away but finds himself drawn to her.
Will Falon remember the night that he spent with Sarah or will they both het caught up in lies about their past?
I really, really wanted to love this book. I was hooked by the premise and skipped it up my TBR. Unfortunately, there was something missing in the execution of this story. For me, the angst of the past was a bit off.
There is no denying that there were some really steamy scenes in this book that made me a bit flustered. The chemistry between the two was off the charts.
And while I really don’t mind the odd typo and grammatical mistake, I was under the assumption that this book was released through a publishing house and there were many elementary mistakes that should have been picked up and corrected.
Would I read something by Elle Doolittle again? Well the answer is yes, because I think that she has great storylines and will only grow in her execution.
“I talk sweetheart, and people listen. Something you should get yourself used to.”
First time reading this author, the cover and the blurb sucked me in and I thought I was onto a winner here. The story isn’t necessarily one I haven’t read before but I really don’t mind that, it makes me look for the differences to take it from an ok read to a good read. For me this was just ok, there wasn’t really anything to set it apart from the many other stories like this out there. Character development was fine but I wasn’t a major fan of Falon. Straight forward and straight talking I found him aloof for much of the time and dare I say….miserable? He had intermittent sparks of passion that made his character light up at times, not enough to make me really like him however. And I absolutely hated one or two of the things he did to Sarah, gah I could have punched that man a few times! I liked Sarah, she had this little bit of a temper (that she schooled quite well) that I craved to see more often. She was likeable and relatable which is always a good thing for the reader. I did not understand her obsession, as that’s what it felt like, with Falon. Yes, I got the history but really? I mean this story is alright, I’d recommend It for a quick read, one you don’t invest too much time in but it is a read that you will most likely forget after a day or two as it leaves no lasting impression, it didn’t with me anyway. I would read more of this author though.
Sometimes when you go in to a book you have such high high hopes that it is going to be one that totally blows you away and may be that one great read that you need at that time, especially if you have been in a book funk. Sadly Big Bad Wolfe didn’t live up to those hopes, it didn’t blow me away or wow me but it was a good book.
I usually like the you don’t remember me but you broke my heart years ago and now I plan my vengeance on you story line so I am not sure exactly what is was about Big Bad Wolfe that kept me from loving it. Maybe it is the fact that Sarah just seems immature at times and just can’t seem to see that there is more to Falon then what she believes, that he too has a painful past at while she was dealing with a heartbreaking situation he was going through his own issues. Even when Falon opened up to her about his past, she couldn’t bring herself to be completely honest. And of course he finds out and is pissed, which is expected. Did she think he was be “oh it’s all good in the hood we can move past it and not worry?” Does that ever happen? No it does not. For some reason Sarah and her plotting just got on my bad side.
Overall, Big Bad Wolfe is a good book, I just wish it would have been great. It had the potential to be but it sadly it didn’t meet my high expectations.
Sarah isn't living life, she's only focused on saving her grandfather's failing company. There is no man in her life cause no man can measure up to the one man who stole her heart in college.
Falon is jaded. He knows the world is only interested and success and money, both of which he has plenty of. Some may call him cold, but after a difficult past, he's fine with his lot in life. His only regret is not being able to find the woman who absoutely rocked his world one drunken night in college.
Whew. The sexual tension between these two characters, with their latent attraction bubbling underneath is amazing. Elle Doolittle does a beautiful job of writing 2 characters who are phenomenal at denying to themselves how they really feel about, well anything. I loved the development of Falon and felt he was a very full character, at times Sarah felt a little weak, whereas I wanted her to be a little fiesty. I do kinda feel like the secondary cast of this book was weak, I mean the grandfather's of both these characters, ultimately 2 very important characters to Falon and Sarah each really only appear 1 time. But regardless, this is a fun, steamy book that will leave you begging for Falon Wolfe to huff and puff for you!!!
He really was the big bad Wolfe lol I really enjoyed this story. These two felt things for each other beyond there control. It was as if a bomb exploded when they kissed the first time. I was so confused at why he couldn't figure it out but later I did. Sarah had this sweetness about her but also she was driven even though the tragedy she lives with everyday she never let it get her down. Caregiver is what I guess could kinda explain how she is. There's only been one man to even own her heart. Fallon wow the man screams hotness but he's also driven and highly respected until he meets the fiery redhead who pretty much puts him in his place. He really should be pissed but he just more intrigued and this doesn't happen to him. He's cold and calculated he doesn't have time to let others in it leaves you vulnerable. The tragedy he lives with also had hardened his heart. He's not met the woman of his dreams yet but maybe oneday it will be more than a fantasy. Honestly this book was perfect you will love the flow of the story. This was given to me by the author for an honest review. Sarah works at her grandfather’s failing business and is very surprised when Falon Wolfe shows up. He is there to revamp the business but Sarah knows him from when she had a crush on him in college and one fateful night when she went to his room and ended up in his bed. He doesn’t seem to remember her but the spark is still there so it’s a rollercoaster from there on out. It doesn’t take long before they are drawn to each other and Sarah has to figure out how to get past Falon’s ice cold walls he has built around his heart.
Okay, so I was in love with this book until the last page. I’m not sure if there were pages/chapters missing from the ARC I received or if the book just ends as abruptly like it does in my copy. If it ends that abruptly then I am going to be very upset because up until that point I was very sucked in by this book. Like 5 star worthy kind of sucked in. The ending dropped it down to a 3.5/4 for me. ARC provided in exchange for review.
The concept behind this story was frustratingly cliche--it was hard for me to latch onto it in the beginning. Nevertheless, there was something about Falon Wolfe that kept me intrigued, so I kept reading. I really liked him. I liked his details and the parts of him that Sarah didn't like--I appreciated that aspect of the conflict. However, the way Sarah handled him--as a memory and as a being in her present--I got annoyed with where she placed the blame and how that drove her actions. Most of the time, I couldn't sympathize with her even though I wanted to.
This is a really quick read; there's a part of me that likes that and there's another part of me that thinks the story suffers a little bit because of it's short length. Character development--for both the main characters and the secondary characters--could have been shown a little bit more attention. Some of the ways in which Elle connected the dots of the story didn't add up in my head because of what I knew about the characters. Also, some of her phrases and her word choice in certain spots was a little awkward or lackluster. Other than that--I did find myself enjoying the story and anxious to see how it would all end.
Big bad Wolfe is the first book I have read by Elle Doolittle I was gifted a copy of the book to read for Gemma Reads Too Much.
This book is not what I was expected, Sarah is a bit of mouse, I think she’s supposed to be in her late twenties but she seemed much older. I loved the moments when she was brave and embraced her sexuality.
I liked Falon there’s something sexy about that whole emotionally unavailable man thing. He just unfortunately really wasn’t that big or bad lol
I really wanted this book to be full of sexual tension and barely held back desire. Unfortunately this story felt reserved, both Sarah and Falon only seemed to embrace like 50% of their needs.
Now the sex was hot but again a little tame.
This is a sweet second chance love story; I definitely felt the connection between Sarah and Falon. But it was a cute thawing of the heart rather than an explosion of angry lust lol
I still really enjoyed this book it’s a nice easy read that will give you a case of the warm and fuzzies.
This was a great story of second chances and facing your past. Fallon Wolfe was a businessman who took failing businesses and turned them around. He was at Sarah Maxwell’s grandfathers business to do just that. Fallon only intended this job to be temporary but that all changed when he meets Sarah. There is something familiar about her that Fallon cannot seem to piece together. Sarah knows Fallon from her past and uses that prior connection to convince herself to stay away from him. These two were fun to read while they tried to deny their feelings for each other because it was so obvious they were meant to be together. I enjoyed this story because it had a touch of drama as well as the romance. I would recommend this book to everyone.
A copy of this title was received in exchange for an honest review.
Sarah and Falon have history but only Sarah remembers. When they are thrown together again in a business situation, the sparks start flying again. Unfortunately, they are both emotionally unavailable. Can they fix each other? Both characters are fairly developed and the scenery is at about that same level. The feeling I kept getting from these two was not love, however. I felt more revenge and anger coming from them for most of the book.
Sarah is a sassy girl that knows how to push her man's buttons, "can I have a minute to get dressed or would you like to supervise my underwear selection too?” As soon as the words were out she realized her mistake. What she hadn’t expected was the flare of heat that blazed in his eyes." Falon likes control and is full of himself at times, "Falon smirked beforepushing his door open. “I talk, sweetheart, and people listen. Something you should get yourself used to." I enjoyed this book it was short, there was sexual tension and I loved it.
I was gifted a copy of this book for review. Sarah has worked to make her place in her grandfather s company. Although it is currently in dire financial straits she will do what she needs to help save it. Fallon is sexy as sin and definitely not used to being told no. He is shocked to see Sarah when he walks into help save her grandfather's co. She does not take his crap and quickly puts him in his place. These two are definitely combustible and the banter between them creates a great story.
Big Bad Falon Wolfe is a strong willed, compentant, shut off man. Sarah comes across lying and scheming from the get go 9 years ago. I love Fallon, Sarah not so much. The two spend a good bit of time chasing around each other until Sarah's secret is revealed.
For the most part i enjoyed the story, but some of the scheming got to be too much. a very quick read and a smoking hot cover
***ARC Provided to leave an honest review*** This was a cute, passionate, quick story of two people, Sarah & Falon. Can she tame the Big Bad Wolfe? Great secondary characters, good story line, we get some history about these two characters. Would like a follow-up book.
