Rodney Riesel's Jake Stellar series collects another win with Beach Shoot. He doesn't force feed us all the goodies that give away the ending, he makes us work for it. And Jake isn't a typical cop, either. He's a wiseass who is facing middle age with a sense of humor, poking fun at cop stereotypes as well as himself while solving crimes. He also discovers there's more depth to his new partner once you get past the all the powdered sugar from the doughnuts. I did mention stereotypes, right?

Set in the tourist town of Myrtle Beach, Riesel approaches things from the viewpoint of a local in a beach town, reminding us that there's more to life there than just gift shops. If you like sand, sea, bullets and mysteries, Beach Shoot is a must read!

‘Beach Shoot’ is a fun mix of mystery, one liners, crime fighting and beach scenes. The main character, Jake Steller, is likable and funny. The plot keeps moving at a steady pace and keeps you guessing until the end. The writing is good and makes you feel as if you’re part of the story. It’s a quick read as well so you never feel bogged down. If you’re looking for something light with a current of humor give this book a try.

Keeps you interested

Quick read. I like the banter, even when the main character is talking to himself.
Starts fast and kept my interest.

A week in the life.

Jake's past catches up with him when people close to him are murdered. A story worth reading. I know that you'll enjoy it.

Love the Jake Stellar series.

Good story not quite as suspenseful as number two. Really enjoy most of Rodney''s writing. Can't wait for number four.
