Caged In

Cage

What do you say to the girl of your dreams as your cock hangs out of your pants, still wet from the no-name actress you just finished? Better yet, what do you say to that same girl six months later as you come face-to-face with her in the home of another man? And just to knock it out of the park, what do you say if she gave you that one moment you so desperately needed to explain why you left in the first place? Why every song you sang was about her? Why she became your green-eyed monster?

Charlie

What the hell was I thinking agreeing to go with him? Could he give me the answers to my questions? And if I got them, what next? Until now, I never realized how caged in I was; helpless to move forward and powerless to change the past. But seeing him changed all that. I could finally move on. But did I want to? Did I want to ignore what I saw in his eyes when he looked at me? Could those feelings transcend the pain of young love and grow into what we both needed to be whole?

2,5 Stars!
What a messed up story that one was. No, not the premise of it, because that was really adorable, i'm talking about all the other aspects of this book that were filled with issues.

I loved the beginning of the story because yeah, i'm an insatiable romantic heart, but the rest were painful to read. Not because i struggled with the hardships the characters had to come through, but only because the writing was distasteful.

Wrong word usage, editing issues, misspellings and a few WTH moments and after a while the plot didn't add up.

As much as i loved the first few chapters, where a totally debased Cage went through all this pain and tried to kick off drugs, that much i couldn't stand the storyline of how he lost Charlie, or later on how he couldn't recognize her at a party.

Anyway Caged In has some very good traits. Like the lonesomeness and sadness it exudes or the pain of losing your true love. I particularly liked the scene in rehab when Cage knew in his heart his Charlie was there with him but he had too many issues to handle.. So if you want to read it, be warned..

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK

- I liked his band mates.
- His father! WHAT??
- Nate is a great friend.
- Dual POV.
- The timeline is a little askew, resulting in disoriented readers.
- In need of a serious makeover.

This book was a mess. The story might have had promise if not for the frustrating writing and the GLARING continuity error that I'll rant about momentarily.

It drove me nuts in every way, the incoherent sentences and lack of editing made it difficult to follow. (Lots of mixed up words. At one point the heroine wants to "bare" his weight, later her body "portrayed" her by responding to his touch)

The truly ridiculous part is: BAH! Even if I could ignore every other issue with the plot and writing, this bit of carelessness is too much to handle.

I had high hopes as this was published on my birthday. Rockstar and Model - American Fucking Royalty, right there. Alas...those hopes were quickly dashed. I missed the whole novella thing until I started reading. That's what I get for trying out the book app on my phone...300 pages just isn't the same.

Did I mention I hate novellas?

They're like ghosts of novels that were too lazy to be written.

I read this anyway, cuz of my loyalty to its publish date and all ;)

I went with the quick build, enjoying H/h rediscovering each other, and then the inevitable, cliched groupie crashing the great vibe between H/h occurred followed by drama-rama-mama-Charlie running off to go do model shit instead of making her rockstar boyfriend explain his shit and I lost interest in their shit.

It was a 2.5-3 star read for me. It seemed as if some parts were cut out of it. Different scenes coming one after another. I would like to have at least a bit of explanation or character struggle when making a life alternating decision.

It was a nice second chance romance story but the reason why they weren't able to stay in touch were a little dubious. Doesn't make sense why his teammates and coach wouldn't give his messages to her when he tried to contact her. I would understand the principal but if he had real friends back in high school, I think they would have helped him get in touch with Charlie.

I know it's fiction but there were too many moments that didn't add up. Otherwise, a pretty good read. I preferred the band dynamic over the two main characters' story.
