Pastor Owen is well-known throughout the community and, runs the church however he sees fit. Nothing is off-limits to him, including the bevy of beautiful women in the congregation, and the endless flow of money dropping into the collection plate. The pastor does what he wants, when he wants, with whom he wants, and dares anyone to second-guess his actions. His son, Casey, is a minister-in-training and proof that an apple definitely doesn’t fall far from the tree. He’s young, sexy, powerful, and very full of himself. Women everywhere throw themselves at the young pastor, and he plays them like a game of checkers, hopping from one to the other, and then dismisses them without a second thought. What happens when the pastor’s gone wild? What happens when neither the pastor nor his son abides by the rules? Open this drama-filled read and find out whether Pastor Owen and his renegade son, Casey end up bringing hellfire upon the pulpit.
I have never been mad as hell reading a book! I wanted the good Lord to strike down bolts of lightning on Casey and Owen! I was mad because I thought they would get away with what they were doing. But thank the Lord for Monica! I sure do wished she would of listen to her grandmother through... Melody S, beautiful job!
Rev Owens is Pastor of a prominent congregation. He's a charismatic man who uses his charm and good looks to woo the ladies of his membership. When his wife is taken out of the picture as a result of an unexpected slip, all bets are off for their then five year old son. Casey, their son, is raised under his father's deceptive, womanizing ways, and that spells terror for the church AND the community of women therein.
Two hours...that's how long I spent reading this book. Once I was in, I was ALL in. This author gifted me this book in exchange for a review, but I PROMISE this won't be the last of her work I read. I was turning pages faster than I could think, trying to get to "next!" These characters were a MESS, women who just wanted to be close to "the man," and would do anything for that position quickly learned that it wasn't all they imagined it would be. Men who believed themselves to be above the laws of reciprocity soon learned that, indeed, it comes back. This book was definitely a great read.
There were places, near the end, where character names changed. Carrie became Cassie and Casey became Cassie. Those, IMO, are editing errors that should be caught as it did throw me off for a split second. However, this is not enough to discount the quality of her work.
All is not sacred in the pulpit. Pastor Owens and his son, Casey are two low down individuals who used the name of God to justify their dirt. When you lie and deceive, you have to keep doing it to keep up with the façade. Sadly, lives were lost as readers wait for the truth to be revealed. Just when you thought the truth was never going to come to fruition, in walks Monica. She may look naïve but something happens to make her re-examine her marriage to Casey. Will Monica be able to forgive the man she fell in love with? Will Casey and the Pastor come clean? You have to one click to read the twists and turns on this ride.
This is my first read by Author Melody S and it was enjoyable. She developed each character and their purpose. Although near the end of the book, names were confused or misspelled and cause the reader to go over the part again to figure out who she was referring to. Other than that, great plot. It is relatable as many times, people put pastors and their families on a pedestal when really they are humans who make mistakes like you and I.
Great Book!!!! Pastor Owen and his son Casey were pure evil!!! This book caught me from the first page.. Tay poor thing I couldn't believe how she continued to allow Casey to treat her like that Casey I felt sorry for poor Monica she was betrayed in so many ways .. Her grandma tried to warn her .. A must the ending will have u end tears . You never know who u can trust !! Not even some ppl in the House of The Lord
Omg this is why I stopped going to church for a while because of gossip and ppl acting like the way they are.I can't how doggish Casey and Owen were.I felt so bad for First Lady,Monica and Tay.Like I really felt bad for Monica because she was a really good girl and didn't deserve wat happen to her.Owen,Casey and Carrie deserved everything that happen to they ass.I loved the ending it mad me cry
Wow!!! Avery good read, This book will keep you engrossed from the start. There is never a dull moment. The author did a great job keeping the story flowing. The evil that a pastor thought he could keep getting awaywith, the damage he caused to so many including his own son will keep you reading until the end.
I really enjoyed this story. It was written and unpredictable. Both the son and Pastor were scandalous. This I believe was the first time I've read anything from this author but it won't be my last. She is definitely one to look out for.
This was an excellent read, very emotional. Casey, Carrie and Pastor Owen got what they deserved in the end. It was sad about Monica and First Lady Smith, but I'm glad at least Monica got some kind of vengeance.
I NEVER SAW THE ENDING COMING BUT I'M GLAD IT HAPPEN EXCEPT FOR MONICA SHE DIDN'T DESERVE THE CARD SHE WAS DEALT BUT SHE DID PLAYED THE HELL OUT OF IT I'M READY TO READ MORE OF THIS AUTHORS WORK....
