I like his writing, but the stories don't really get to me. Lots of Texas, music, and redheads though! You can download lots of these for free at the Fiction Liberation Front website. I think I'll try one of his novels before giving up.

Some beautiful stories here... good range but lots of struggle, and characters that make your heart wrench. I'm stoked on Shiner's books, but reading 3 in a row, it's time to take a break and come back in the spring.
