Not many wolves have known their true mate since first grade, let alone spent years fighting every instinct to claim them, but Iron has his reasons. Sexy, sophisticated Doctor Isabella Santiago is not meant for pack life. He’s protecting them both from a life of misery and crushed dreams, the type of life his parents had.
Bella, though, has her own idea about what’s best for her, and she’s done letting her werewolf dictate their relationship. This Mating Season she’s going to test Iron’s control, because while Iron may never break, she’s going to do everything possible to make him bend.
*** This Werewolf Shifter BBW story is complete and total down to the HEA! Enjoy the read! ----------------------------
The mating moon is rising…
Wherever that silver light touches, lone male werewolves are seized by the urge to find their mates. Join these six packs of growly alpha males (with six-packs!) as they seek out the smart, sassy women who are strong enough to claim them forever.
The “Mating Season” werewolf shifter novellas are brought to you by six authors following the adventures of six different packs. Each novella is the story of a mated pair (or trio!) with their Happily Ever After. Enjoy the run!
IRON MATING SEASON #5 (BLUE COLLAR WOLVES #1) RONIN WINTERS Iron and Bella have been friends since they were 6! Iron knows Bella is his true mate but he is determined to let her have a “normal” life and mate with another female. Iron also doesn’t want to burden Bella with keeping the shifter secrets. Bella becomes a doctor and while doing her residency she decides she has wasted enough time waiting of Iron to make the first move. Bella has secrets of her own that she has been keeping, she knows all about the shifters and has even seen the pack doctor to take over his practise when she finishes her residence. Bella has given Iron this mating season to claim her as his own or she will move on and find someone else. It’s a short story that tells its story and sets you up nicely to take us into book 2 of the blue collar wolves. I was wanting to give Iron a shake at one stage as to how thick he was to what was right in front of his nose and why would he settle for less than his fated mate. I received this ARC for my honest review.
I love the concept of this whole series!! These wolves are deliciously wicked in the bedroom! Oh, Bella is definitely a force to be reckoned with and will not be denied her wolf. Iron was a smexy treat when he stopped pushing her away.
The mixed POV was easy to follow and great for understanding both sides of the romance. I love having that inside track when it comes to brooding heroes.
The sex was extremely hot and oh so detailed!! This might have been a quickie read, but it packs a serious punch!! Did I mention the dirty talk, it will set panties on fire!!!
It ends with a bit of a tease for the next book, that makes you desperate to pick it up right away. Pretty sure this is a series I will devour in one sitting!!
The only thing I didn't like about this little novella was that Iron called his mate a b**** multiple times and even his mate called herself that. I just really don't like that at all. Otherwise nice novella.
The profanity is so heavy that I had to force myself to continue reading. This story is one big f-bomb. Not sexy! The dirty talk is crass and degrading.
I liked that Iron is dominant yet also vulnerable & Bella is so self assured. As a novella, its a little light on the world building & some revelations had no build up, but I'm looking forward to reading more of the series which hopefully will expand this.
I think my favourite thing though was Bella's very descriptive dirty mouth!!! Utterly awesome - I wish I had the guts to say those things out loud ;)
Not a bad story. I didn't really get the hero's hesitation, since the couple knew each other since childhood. The emotional aspect was not on point, but it filled up a rainy day.
So much angst over mating someone you have known since first grade!!! The characters were rather stilted in their dialogue and actions. Lack of details and I cannot even picture the characters in my mind. The writing is very raw and read like an writing exercise rough draft.
Having read the Mating Season entries by V. Vaughn, Emma Storm and Kenzie Cox, the Blue collar Wolves series are the best crafted stories and characterisation. Given the short length of the novella format (each book can be read in less than two hours) it’s difficult to convey a fully realised set of characters and have a cohesive plot to drive the coming together of the protagonists.
With Iron, Ronin Winters, delivers a great story in the novella format, by having Iron and his true mate Bella being friends since childhood, which gives the author leeway to do away with the getting to know you exposition and insta love format normally neccassary in a romance novella.
Iron and Bella are both interesting and engaging characters you want to get their HEA. The plot setting which set the scene for the secondary characters’ stories made me want to read the rest of this series. The novella format is not my favourite, but Ronin did a fabulous job here. The book wasn’t quite four stars as there were a lot of grammatical and spelling errors, and it was too short with no satisfactory epilogue, though reading Bella's Tease helped to alleviate that.
All round a nice little read and well worth the effort and price, but some attention to proofing required.
Ah...True Mates. She's sexy and feisty with a brain, he's hot but stupid and needs a kick up the...and she's just the person to give it to him.
'Iron' is the first book in the Blue Collar Wolves series by Ronin Winters and I was given this copy by the author in exchange for an honest review. It is also the fifth book in the Mating Season Collection. These books are all fairly short stories that take a couple of hours to read, and are complete with HEAs but absolutely no cliff-hangers.
This is the first book I've read by this author and I enjoyed it although I got seriously frustrated with Iron, yes that's his name, and really felt he needed a swift kick up the jacksy, rather than a smart woman with more patience than I would have had in the same situation. But she loves him...what can I say. And it's Mating Season again, but it's the last one she's going to let pass by without a resolution...one way or the other, she is going to end the torture of waiting and hoping.
Now in their late 20s, Iron has known that Bella is his true mate since they were six years old, but has stubbornly refused to do anything about it, thinking she needs to be protected from what he is and that there are better things in her future than him. I think he's just stupid, selfish and cruel for not mating her years ago. Bella has been in love with Iron for the same amount of time and has finally got tired of waiting and being subjected to his BS attitude, so she takes matters into her own hands, and they get their HEA.
This paranormal romance has some funny bits, a bar fight, steamy bits and a wonderful cast of characters, but my hero is Bella for going after what she wants. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one. I will be reading more by this author. I would happily recommend it to anyone.
I first read this in the box set ALPHAS UNBOUND and ended up buying it as I liked the rest of the series. I have owned these books for ages and had reviewed them previously but a lot of reviews written directly from the back of a book have disappeared. I thought I would review them as I was rereading them for the third time. Always a good enjoyable read but I will say this is my least favourite of them due to the crudity used, made me cringe and spoilt it for me. Iron is an idiot male who nearly lost the best thing in his life due to hanging onto his childhood mummy issues. His dad was in the wrong, not him. Isabella is a smart woman and knowing she is Iron’s mate and he doesn't want her is bad enough but finding out he is going to mate another woman is the last straw. Bella tells Iron he claims her or she finds someone else. The crudity comes in with one sex scene and Bella being called and referring to herself as a B**ch. Just NO, did not add to the story for me as I have heard this used to much in a derogatory fashion. I understand the context it is used in, in this book but bad memories. The plot was pretty set but the other characters we meet from the pack are lovely and all have great stories to be told. Be aware these are short stories and I did not pay the current asking price.
Awesome! I love a good book filled with action of all kinds, and this on produced it all in spades. Iron has known forever that Bella was his fated mate, but he held secrets that would, what he felt, keep her a prisoner in his world. Bella has known since she was six years old that she was going to marry Iron, only one problem...he won't admit it. She's been in love with him ever since he picked her up off the ground after a school bully put her there, but she's a strong willed woman, and is not afraid of going after what she wants in life. Now that she has achieved her childhood ambition of becoming a doctor, all she has to do is finally convince Iron that they belong together. She's ready to start a family, but knows it will only be with him. Iron is stuck in the past, trying to relive his parents mistakes, or as he perceives it, trying not to relive them. All he's done is pushed Bella away, trying to protect her. But he'll soon find out that she's done with all of his pushing, and she's pushing back...with a vengeance. Will these two ever mate? Will they finally get what they both truly want and need? A great short love story with lots of spunk. I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Okay, I really want to give this story 4.8 stars just because of some editing issues. But I'm going with a solid 5 because a) the story deserves more than 4; b) those editing issues are sporadic and c) this author has great potential!!! Loved the character development and how three dimensional the story was written, without introducing so many unnecessary characters that it muddled the story. Great lead into the next story of the series. Loved the H/h as well. The H was written as a smokin' hottie, bada$$, but didn't come across as a total insensitive jerk. The h was written as a smart, confident WOMAN who knows what she wants and accepts herself as is. Loved it!!! P.S. No YA angst in this one. YAY! I'm not a huge fan of novellas or serials; HOWEVER, because several authors are included in the Mating Season series, you don't have to wait an eternity for the next story. So, I thank these authors for coming together and releasing the stories in a staggered timeline. I have added each of you to my 'must read list' and have encouraged my friends to do the same. I'm so anxious for Brick House, I have a reminder set on my calendar :)
I was given an ARC of Iron from the author, in exchange for an honest review.
I finished Iron today & what a story it is! I was enthralled in the story I was reading, sucked into the pain of Iron & his choices about not mating with his true mate Bella.
Iron has been keeping his distance from his true mate Bella, he's known her since they were both young, but he doesn't want to bring her into the world of shifters. Wanting only whats best for her, he decides to ignore the mating pull. Bella has decided to finally have her man & with the Mating Moon up it's now or never....
I really loved the push & pull that was all of Iron & Bella's story, Bella is strong & just wants what she's only ever wanted.... all she needs to do is convince a very stubbon wolf.
Iron is book 1 in Ronin's "Blue Collar Wolves" series, which in turn is a part of the "Mating Season" pack series. A set of books from 6 authors, 6 different packs & an individuals story on finding their mate. I can't wait to read more Ronin's "Blue Colloar Wolves" & to delve into the other authors work in the "Mating Season" series.
You'd thinking knowing who your mate was from childhood would be great, woundn't you. Not for poor Iron. This tough guy alpha is wrapped in knots over his mate, the curvy and oh so human Isabella. Due to childhood memories he's trying to deny his true mate because he doesn't want to derail her dreams of being a doctor.
Thankfully Isabella has decided enough is enough. She wants Iron and she's going to have him. Shes dedicated herself to being a doctor but she is fed up of dancing around her feelings for Iron. She is on a mission to claim him!!
Like the tag line states "while Iron may never break, she’s going to do everything possible to make him bend".
Isabella is brilliantly stubborn in her pursuit of Iron. He has no chance against this tenacious female. She knows exactly what he is and she still wants him. Watch those sparks fly!!!!! The initial sex scene between these two is awesome. But when Iron is bit of an arrogant idiot afterwards, trying to get Bella to changer her mind. She takes him to task in an awesome way! Can't wait for more from this series!!!!!!!
Iron: Blue Collar Wolves #1 (The Mating Season, #5)
by Ronin Winters
Iron and Bella have known each other since they were 6. They have been great friends all this time, but Iron knows that Bella is his true mate, but he doesn't want to believe in the true mate myth. Besides, Bella is headed for bigger and better things and he refuses to hold her back. He has never told her his biggest secret and doesn't plan on it. He has decided to choose someone else to mate with and let Bella go for good.
Bella has been in love with Iron for years. She knows about werewolf pack and that Iron is one of them. That is fine with her. She knows that none of them would ever hurt her and she knows that Iron wants her. She has been patiently waiting for him to make his move, but he seems determined to not go there. Time to step-up and make him man-up when she finds out he plans to mate someone else.
A night of passion leads to so much more then Iron had planned. Can he hold out against the woman that he has wanted for years and take another as his mate?
5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for paranormal romance book lovers., June 25, 2015
This review is from: Iron: Blue Collar Wolves #1 (Mating Season Collection) (Kindle Edition) I was given a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review by author Ronin Winters. Iron is book one in The Blue Collar Wolves series and part of the Mating Season Pack Series. The author give us the story of Iron and Bella, Isabella Santiago is a doctor who has wanted Iron since they were kids and Iron is the owner of a bar who thinks he doesn't deserve his true mate Bella. With this book you have humor, drama, hot werewolves, sassy women, sweet romance and a lot more. You'll love all the characters, Mel, Bella, Iron, Steel, Brick, House. A must read, really enjoyed. Can't wait to read more....
This is about a shifter who has denied his mate. She is giving him one last chance. I really liked how willing she was to put it all out there.
They have both known for years they belong together. Iron is worried that Bella won't be happy with the pack and so he has kept his distance. His parents were miserable together. He wants her to be a doctor and pursue a normal life. Bella understands more than he thinks and is sick of waiting. She pushes him to make a decision or lose her.
The chemistry is amazing and I really enjoyed seeing it all play out. I look forward to reading more by the author.
I read it as part of the Alphas Unbound bundle. I received a copy in return for a honest review.
I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review by author Ronin Winters. This is from the Blue Collar Wolves.
Isabella Santiago is a doctor who has wanted Iron since they were kids growing up. No matter what she did she always went to Iron for his approval. Iron is beta of his pack and knows Bella is his true mate but because of his childhood he wants a better life for her. His past threatens their future together.
This is a great read by the author and I have nothing bad to say about the book. I love the style, the flow and the characters in this book.
Because of some sexual content this is for mature paranormal romance book readers.
Iron has to be the most stubborn man/wolf in the known universe. He knows Isabella is his true mate but circumstances in the past make him refuse to mate her. Nothing seems to be able to change his mind until Isabella makes the decision to force his hand one weekend before he does something stupid and mates someone he doesn’t love! The torture she puts him through is hilarious and mostly deserved, and no one has any sympathy for him since everyone else realizes what a gift a true mate is. Even Isabella knows and she’s not a wolf…yet! Great story, can’t wait to read about Brick, House and Mel!! **Book received in exchange for honest review**
Well, I didn't seem to like this as much as many of the raving reviews posted here. To each her own, I suppose. The writing was good, the sex hawt, the storyline decent. But in the end, it's been done before, and it's been done better.
Don't get me wrong - I like a good series werewolf romance. I just don't appreciate every Tom, Dick, and Harry from the series being introduced in the first couple of chapters. Let's build up to some of the later players, now. The author seemed to be in too much of a hurry to introduce too many characters, and it lended to an overloaded, confusing feel to the start of an otherwise decent read.
This was a fun story, great characters. It was s novella that really could have used some fleshing out, a couple major details (like if the heroine was supposed to know about werewolves) took a long time to get to and would have been more useful early on, but other wise a good story. However, the grammar was awful and some of the sentences down right confusing! Positives were there should have been a negative (ie- should in stead of shouldn't). All these mistakes made this a challenge to read. I did enjoy the characters enough that I plan to read the next book, but this author could do with a better editor!
Bella is awesome. I was rooting for her to move on with her life and leave Iron. But they've loved each other since they were six years old and she's not gonna let him mate someone else. Iron believes he's not good enough for his true mate who deserves the privileged world he can't give her. He's kept all knowledge of his shifter world from her to protect her but Bella has always known about him. And she's not about to let her man do something he'll regret.
My first time reading a book by Ronin Winters and wow I am impressed she is good. Love the characters and the storyline.
Iron is a kinda damage emotional wolf/man by his family life and it is totally messing up his life right now and keeping him from his true mate.
Bella know's Iron is the only man for her and she has spent years letting him get it together and claim her but he is set on setting up. Will his wolf win and claim his mate or will the man spend his life with regrets book given for an honest review and I honestly love it.
I must start by saying I love the characters and the storyline. I'm hooked on the characters and can't wait to read the other Blue Collar Wolves books. Having said that I must say the reason for my three star rating is the crude use of the English language. While I love a good paranormal romance I don't want them to read like a Penthouse story. I intend to finish the series because I'm vested in these characters but I'm not sure I'd choose to read another Ronin Winters series.
Is a good read if you like a quick and short one that isn’t really much of a story. To me there is no plot or twist. {Spoiler Alert} It’s mostly guy knows girl, tries to resist her but eventually gives in. Is a couple intimate encounters and than that’s all. I’m OK with short reads but not one that seems to be missing important parts. There are others tied along to this one, “Mating Season” series if you will but I’ve no desire to try any others. This one just didn’t catch my interest or liking enough.
Oh man.. Iron is hott..his mate is hotter.. I love that she was very much her own person and didn't take crap from anyone including him. I love that their love had been forever pretty much. I love that it wasn't a "she must fall for me because of the true mates" type of thing and she fell for him as a child. I loved everything about this.. and the ending.. omg now I need to read the nexyt one. Totally amazing and will be recommending this to my friends. So glad I got to review it.
1) Bar owner, IRON, Beta of his pack, has loved Bella, and known she is his mate for twenty years. Bella is now a doctor and is tired of waiting for Iron to mate her. He's afraid he's not good enough for her. It's now or never. Great characters, super hot sex, and an interesting plot with twists for these wolves. Ronin Winters has given us a well written tale, with people we care about right away. Highly recommend ! ENJOY !!!
Kindle Unlimited book. Standalone - NO cliffhanger. This is part of a series within a series. She wants him and knows his secrets. He knows she's his mate but keeps pushing her away. He owns a bar and she's going to be a doctor. Can she show him that he's what she really needs and wants? Will he overcome his past?
I love paranormal romance especially warewolf ones. This by far is one of the best I have read in awhile. There is a few editing mistakes but nothing that would take from the story, just a slip from the eye type of mistakes. I will say this author is one I will be looking for in their future writings.
