Thoroughly enjoyed this photographic walk through Corrie's life... She's such a challenging encouragement to me. If she can forgive her captors and those who caused the deaths of her family members and friends, I should be so very quick to forgive my own children in the daily grind of motherhood. God has done so much for us!
I bought this book when I got to go on the trip of lifetime to see the Ten Boom house in Haarlem this Spring. It was incredible to visit the actual house which has been so real in my mind since I read “The Hiding Place” as a child.
This book gives an overview of the Ten Booms story, giving some history of the family, and a timeline of what happened to Corrie after her time in the concentration camp. It’s a brilliant accompaniment to any of Corrie’s stories that tell of her time in incarceration, as it shows so much of how God was working in her life for many decades before then, and the global impact her ministry had for the rest of her life. It’s full of pictures of the house, of Corrie’s travels, and of the reconstruction of their story from the film “The Hiding Place” too.
This book is now available through the Corrie ten Boom Museum website in softcover. It can be shipped to the US. It is the most complete book ever written about Corrie ten Boom, and her story is told primarily in her own words. It also includes over 100 rare photographs. It is the fascinating story of Corrie's entire life. The current edition title is More Than a Hiding Place: The Life-Changing Experiences of Corrie ten Boom and the first edition title was A Visit to the Hiding Place: The Life-Changing Experiences of Corrie ten Boom. The subtitle is accurate--it truly is life-changing!
I visited the Corrie Ten Boom house not knowing much about Corrie's story, and this book has been really interesting and informative. It's easy to read, and has lots of photos in it. It's definitely worth reading!
