Meg O'Reilly fell in love with the dress first. Then she fell for the guy.
The fabulous Evangeline-designed wedding dress that Meg saw in the window of the vintage clothing store, Joe's Past and Present, fit her as if it were custom-made for her. Even though she's not engaged, doesn't even have a boyfriend, Meg decides she wants to buy it. Dylan West, the owner's son, sets it up so Meg can get the $5,000 dress at a discount if Meg helps do some advertising for the store.
Then the dress is stolen, with the thief leaving a note saying, "This dress is mine. I'm taking it back."
Meg and Dylan assume that the dress was taken by Tasmine Ford, who left the dress on consignment with Joe's. When they track Tasmine down, they accidentally crash her wedding -- but, to their surprise, she's not wearing the dress.
Then they find out that the dress has a surprising history: The dress has been previously owned by three brides-to-be, but in each case, the bride has wound up getting married in a different dress, and to a different groom than she was supposed to marry.
Does Meg still want the dress, if it means she won't marry Dylan, whom she now is in love with, and who has just proposed to her? Or is "her" dress really cursed?
