This was not really as great as I thought it was going to be. I had hoped for better as the reviews were pretty good. I guess it wasn't for me.

Wow.. this book is a HOT MESS!! It just keeps bouncing all over the place and I can't keep up. We have gone from rifle toting druggy, to fatal car accident, to murder, to sexual assault, to boyfriend raping girlfriend and shooting her up with heroin to make her think she likes it only to have dad and the mayor interrupt so they can put video cameras up to watch her shower.. Yep, all in the first three chapters.
So while this book is short, I'm quitting at 16%.

Plenty (Fifty Shades of Mystery, Moxie and Suspense Book 2) by Kelly K. Lavender was a suspense-filled mystery.

I received a complimentary Kindle copy in an Amazon promotion. That did not change my opinion for this review.

I gave it four stars.

"When gorgeous good-hearted Camille joins a volunteer program to help troubled teens, she meets, falls for and becomes Grant's love interest. Handsome, wealthy, powerful Grant, son of small town Sheriff Gordon, feels compelled emotionally and physically to be part of Camille's life despite his father's disapproval."

Plenty is a book about a young lady, Camille, who is trying to pull herself up from bad parenting and to live a life her grandmother would be proud of. She has fallen in with the sheriff's son which, in this case, proves to be road that she should not be going down. An accident on a four-lane road and a shooting in a rest area sets in motion the events that will eventually free her and the whole area from a politically corrupt system that has grown up in the community. Camille joins forces with Jennifer, a widow with a daughter, to stand up against the evil forces and finds that there are outside forces willing to help. The good guys win primarily by the bad guys taking themselves out by forces not controlled by anyone else but themselves. It is a thriller where good wins over evil in surprising ways. There are twists and turns and and surprises along the whole story, but it all comes together in the end.

A very good and interesting read. A look at how power in a small community can lead to corruption as much as it does in large metropolitan areas. Power corrupts and leads to one wanting absolute power which in the end leads to self destruction.

When you become involved in a group effort, sometimes you don't quite know what drives that effort, as Camille discovers when she volunteers for a small town youth outreach program, only to discover that its leaders are overseeing criminal activities and that her affair with the sheriff's son who co-presides over the program has landed her right in the path of danger.

Plenty is a novel about love and corruption, friendships and salvation, the descent into hell and the effort to survive: as such, it's not for those seeking either a romance story or an easy leisure read. Indeed, readers who expect a novel filled with positives (an innuendo perhaps provided in both title and the fact that the small town is ironically named 'Prosperity') will find it abundant, instead, with conflict, sexual and psychological angst, and the efforts of two women to change the course of their lives.

One of Plenty's many strengths is that the female protagonists are anything but helpless, the situation anything but hopeless. The reigns of control and domination are fluid and move steadily between oppressors to oppressed. Satisfying twists and turns of story line keep readers guessing, while underlying thoughts and psychology are realistically depicted as characters come to grips with the evil they are facing and their own part in events.

At times readers feel they are in an emotional meat grinder; at other times, protagonist strengths come to rescue. No easy or light read, Plenty is a vivid, revealing story recommended for any who would absorb two women's methods for regaining power in their worlds, and uses compelling, thought-provoking devices to bring this atmosphere to the forefront of attention. Female readers seeking an antithesis to Fifty Shades of Gray with more dynamic, powerful female characters will find Plenty more than fits the bill.

I spent a couple of days after I finished the the book thinking about how I was going to write this review.

Despite its marketing, this was nothing like the FSOG trilogy. It was a lot better.

Plenty…the name itself is strange but after reading the story I think it suits the plot. The one thing I have to add is that I loved how the author gave names to each chapter. Some of the names were a little quirky but very understandable once you read it.

That being said, I think potential readers should be warned this story is not a soft or easy read. It delves deep in to the mind of a druggie trying to make a better life for herself. This is a hardcore story and not for the faint of heart. I had to read it in two sittings since I was crying so much I couldn’t see the screen.

Camille loves her grandma a lot. More than her parents. The book starts in the present but every now and then shifts into the future and this really added to the story. It happens seamlessly and not too frequently.

I really loved that Camille does fall off the deep end when she meets Grant and starts going out with him. The situation quickly goes from bad to worse. Although this is a fiction story, it draws from real life. People in fact do use drugs and do go off the deep end when they allow themselves to be coerced by mates or friends or lovers. This makes this story so real and helped me feel for these characters.

The author did a great job weaving the story together. There were some grammatical mistakes which took some effort for me to ignore, which was a shame since the story is so solid. But the satisfying end made it all worthwhile.

Camille goes through a lot of bad but comes out stronger and with family and friends that stick around for everything.

Camille was tough to really put your finger on. You really start to cheer for her during the beginning, but she makes a lot of poor decisions along the way that had me questioning her character and if I even liked who I was reading about. Eventually though, her quick wit and personality shine through and make you glad you are on her side. Grant on the other hand...He's kind of despicable. While there's a lot of saucy-sizzling scenes at play, I never really liked him or any of the guys here.

My favorite thing about this book was the feeling of tension and suspense that filled me during the entire experience. The plot moves at a quick pace, steadily building until you're more invested in it than in your own life for that brief moment in time. The rapid-fire action will keep even the most easily-bored readers with plenty to occupy their minds and time.

Kelly writes with a distinct style that hints at visuals rather than explicitly states them. She paints pictures with metaphors and analogies well, that never detract from the flavor and tone of her own unique style. I'd read another Kelly K. Lavender piece any day.

A dark thriller set in a small Texas town where most things are corrupt. Camille was trying to bring herself up from the life she was raised in. She gets involved with the Sheriff's son who's about as bad of an egg as his dad. She soon realizes that most of the town government is corrupt and she feels helpless to do anything about it. That's when she connects with a young widower and her daughter. They join forces with some outside forces to clean up things. A dark book in so many ways and hard to read at times. I received an arc and voluntarily chose to review it.

Plenty grabbed my attention from the first page and held on until the end. Plenty had a lot of action to keep the pages turning. Plenty also had a lot of bad in it like rape, murder, corruption, and a story of a lone young woman just trying to survive.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I read the summary for Plenty but what I found between its pages was not quite it. Plenty is not a story for some readers so be aware of what the story holds as there are a lot of bad things that happen to Camille.

Camille volunteers at the sheriff's department where she meets and falls for the sheriff’s son. The sheriff does not like that Camille and Grant are together and tries to break it off but his way of trying to stop his son from dating her is not the way to do it.

Plenty is a dark and sad story. A story that I am sad to say happens every day in real life to someone.

This is the first book by Kelly K. Lavender that I read and can say it was a good story. There are twists and turns in the plot and a lot of action.
Judging by what other reviewers wrote, I expected more intense, graphic sex scenes but there aren't that many. I obviously am not counting the violent ones, only the consensual.

I also couldn't find any connections to the Fifty Shades trilogy nor would I classify this book in the erotica genre as it's been described elsewhere. Being an erotica writer, I was disappointed in my expectations and that's why I rated it a 4-star story..Plenty

The title of this book is pretty accurate, because there is PLENTY, plenty action, emotions, sex, violence, corruption and plenty twists and turns. At first is a little overwhelming, because everything happen in the first chapters, but the story kept me on edge all through until the end. I don't want to give up too much information, because it's really hard to put in words the emotions that I felt reading this story.
Beware!! The author uses a raw vocabulary and some situations are extreme, this is not a book for everybody.
So, are you in or are you out?

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I liked this story and how the writer developed the characters. There was a lot going on and a lot of domino effect going on in the book. Showing how small town corruption can lead to loss of life but also be over come by the community coming together. But mostly it is about a young lady turning her life around and coming out on top! Nicely done.

This is a story about the effects on a young woman who grew up in a very tough environment and more than that it shows what having the wrong friends can do to your life. It shows that no matter how strong you might be, getting involved with the wrong people can maybe not weaken you, but put you in a position where you can’t go back. Where the deeper you get; the worse things get. While it’s true there are bad people everywhere. The world is full of small organizations and towns where someone enjoys yielding their power just to feel powerful or be the big man (or woman). Camille just didn’t realize how much she was being used just for power.
There can be no question that the characters came alive under Lavender’s writing. The good people and the bad people. There’s also no question that at times it seemed like there were more bad people than good, but I don’t think it made this story too dark. I think it tended to show how many facets there were to the story. In reading Lavender’s book “Beautiful Winter” I mentioned that I thought she had the ability to evoke strong emotion in the reader. I think that’s what she has done here at times. A couple of times I thought the story wasn’t going my way and I was uncomfortable, but then again…not every story is supposed to be just like you want it to be, is it? If it was, it would be the same story over and over again.
I have a feeling anything she writes is worth reading.

In Plenty, Kelly K. Lavender tells a story of suspense, survival, and resilience set in the unpredictable landscape of rural Texas. This tale blends family drama with tense, nail-biting moments, creating a narrative that keeps readers hooked.

Lavender’s vivid descriptions bring the setting to life. Sometimes, quite graphically. The protagonist, Camille, shines as a relatable and compelling character. Her struggles and triumphs make her journey emotionally charged and deeply engaging. You might even shed a few tears along the way.

The supporting cast of Grant, Ben, Gordon, Jennifer, and Joy add depth to the story, each contributing to the intricate web of relationships and challenges Camille faces. Many of these characters are rotten, depraved, and sadistic. Unfortunately, this evil is all too common in real life, and the wholesome characters are often overshadowed.

It's an intense tale ideally suited for readers who enjoy stories of personal growth with underlying themes of tragedy and the seedier side of life. "Plenty" offers a thought-provoking experience, even when tackling challenging themes and hard-to-read situations.

I received a copy of the book for the tour. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.

A violent tale of the vulnerable victim of a cruel, corrupt sheriff who fights back!

Camille White had been a rebellious teenager, a product of disinterested, self-absorbed parents. But after her father is sent to prison and her mother commits suicide, she is taken in by Grammy Barbara, whose steady patience and love turns the young girl’s life around. Inspired to help younger teens avoid her mistakes, overcome drug addiction, and escape similar unhealthy existences, Camille volunteers to be the teenage outreach coordinator for the police department, where she meets Grant Griffin, the son of the sheriff. Grant and Camille are on fire for each other, but his father is completely against their relationship, deeming Camille an unfit whore and addict and not good enough for his son. However, he quickly realizes he can use her weaknesses to further his corrupt activities and keep his son in line doing his bidding. But one night, Gordon Griffin goes too far, and Camille decides that enough is enough.

Plenty by Kelly K. Lavender is shorter length, hard-core novel of betrayal, cruelty, sex, drugs, and murder. The narrative is gritty, the action violent and messy, and many of the characters depraved. Camille, the people who try to help her, and even Grant suffer, including death, at the hands of the evil sheriff with so much power within his grasp. The author deftly connects the storyline dots and ties together a number of disparate plot points.

PLENTY is recommended for readers of domestic horror. Sensitive readers should be aware the content of the story includes suicide, suicidal thoughts, sexual abuse and assault, on-the-page murders and deaths, strong language, and other violence.

This was a dark and chilling read - not to be taken lightly, and the fact that it was inspired by real events only added another layer of terror to everything. My only real complaint and the reason I gave it a four instead of a five, is it didn't always flow smoothly, the story and dialogue were a little choppy at times, making it a little difficult to stay fully immersed at times. That said - the imagery in this is quite vivid, and there are some scenes that may be very difficult to read for some, especially survivors of SA and DV. There are moments when you'll feel your heart swell with hope, and others when you'll feel it drop right into your shoes. Camile is a compelling character, dropped into horrific circumstances, who despite it all refuses to simply lay down and give up on life. If nothing else, at it's core, this is a story of survival and resilience in the face of overwhelming odds.

Good

He grabbed his bipod and his rifle, gasping as if burned, before he cuddled his treasure to lie prone on the ground. Deeper breaths escaped his lips as he looked through his new $ 2,000 scope. The highway lay within range, just four hundred yards away. The brush provided perfect cover for his car and him. His target would be unmistakable—an old blue Ford truck, speckled with Bondo, pulling a flatbed. A scheduled drop would make the task easy. Purvis—too sloppy, too addicted, too stupid to be valuable . . . anymore. Nestling into a spot, the hit man grinned and sighted his gun on the highway in full view.

Voluntary review of an ARC. What can I say. I really didn't care for this book.. I found the characters unlikable and stereotypical--either all evil or all good. The dialogue was stilted and trite, very scripted showing little or no emotion. The story itself wasn't bad but the solution to every problem was abrupt and unbelievable.

This was a very dark and gritty story. Camille was the central character with interactions with the rest of the characters. At times, she seemed like a smart and determined woman, and other times, she was a mess. Everyone seemed to have an agenda, mostly illegal and downright cruel and creepy. For some people, these could be triggers. As I read, I was pulled to get to the end to see who would survive this journey. I did enjoy the final message between Camille, Jennifer, and Joy about moving forward in order to rise above what had happened. Definitely not an upbeat, gentle story.

I received a copy through Goddess Fish Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
