Do you know why I love LaShawn Vasser, the author? I’ll tell you why? This sista has range! You never know what to expect from one book to the next. Some authors stick to one genre or one underlying theme which is great, and I respect that, but then you have those authors who like to keep their fans guessing and stir the pot like good ol’ batch of jumbalaya…That is LaShawn Vasser!

A Storm Is Coming is a literal play on words when it comes to this narrative. There are storms of the heart, storms of the mind, storms involving family drama, and yes, an actual weather storm. All of these storms culminate into one moving and emotional drama involving a woman driven by success and a man trying to maintain his. This is the story of Braylee Hinsdale, and all the storms she has to weather. Her biggest storm? Alexandro Manchetti.

Before I get into the actual review, can we talk about this cover? I had NO idea that interactive book covers were a thing. When I first saw it, I thought I was tripping, but then I realized I don’t do drugs dummy…I consider this story an unconventional romance, actually more a tale of the heart and mind with romantic elements. Braylee is like so many of us women. On the surface she seems to have it all: She’s a beautiful, successful, wealthy attorney who’s on her A-game at all times. But when we get an inside look at the foundation underneath it all, this makes her all the more endearing and relatable, especially those of us who come from dysfunctional families. Alexandro is the head of his family and a billion-dollar company that’s on life support following the death of a few consumers who used a faulty product manufactured by his company. Only one person can resuscitate his slowly-dying empire, and that person is one Braylee Hinsdale. Upon meeting, the attraction is instant, but they both have their priorities in order…

Like all romantic stories I read, I’m usually an “Okay get to the loving part already…”, but I quickly became enthralled in the mystery of whodunit. There are a few twists and turns, and in the midst of it all, Braylee and Alex are playing cat and mouse with one another. I loved the torturous verbal and emotional foreplay between these two because it’s not always so cut and dry between two people who are physically attracted to one another. Life often gets in the way, but oh, the hookups were niiice!

The heart of this story, for me, was not the romance between Braylee and Alex, but the dysfunction in Braylee’s family. It was this dysfunction that has shaped the woman that she is today. I could relate to her situation on such a profound level, that I thought I was reading my own life story in some aspects. The old adage is true: What happens in the dark will come to light…And when that switch is flipped…KA-BOOM! This was the pinnacle moment in the narrative. Explosive!!!

Yes, this is book 1 of a series. Yes, it sorta ends on a cliffhanger. No, you should not hold this against the author. The immediate conflict in this installment is resolved. The ending merely sets the stage for book 2. Click it up!

I’m so mad at myself! Why in the world did I wait this long to read this book?! 🙃🙃🙃😫😫😫

This book has been sitting on my shelf since 2017. I’m sorry for sleeping on you, Ms. Vasser. I hope you can forgive me, sis!

I am Braylee and she is me. She’s so relatable. She’s educated, independent, has a no nonsense kind of attitude but you also see her character develop through out the story.

Great work!! 👏🏾🙌🏾❤️

What in the french toast sticks! Okay first of all I need to get out that this book was awesome sauce... now I also need to get out... the ending left my mouth agaped... AND not for the reason you would assume, there is a sort of cliffhanger... not not sort of... there is one. But not one in sense that leaves you like "WTF!" you know how most books just drop off and you are like WHAT WHAT HAPPENED and you have to wait next to a year for a resolution... yeah nope it wasn't that that at all.

Actually everything was nicely tied up and actually I was like ooooo I can with this "the end" (Even though the author did state that this was just book 1 of 2.. I assumed that book 2 would be about a different set of characters... I was wrong). and then it was just like BOOM. I was thinking oh hell this should be interesting because it was never completely acknowledged on who this "surprise" really was to the main character... it was touched and that was it.. just touched. So I am very interested in seeing how this all plays out and who exactly and why exactly is this person an important player. Like the damn ghost of christmas past.

OOOO and before I forget to add... LOVED LOVED LOVED that Braylee was a very strong and powerful women and let me admit...in the beginning I sorta didn't like her... Now now before you chew me out let me explain... She was beautiful... that was stressed, I was like okay she is too perfect and this is going to be bug the hell out of me because regardless of how great a book is.. I need there to be something special or different to connect to the character... none of us are perfect so to read about a "perfect character" without some type of imperfection is an completely turn off for me so to speak... HOWEVER... we find that not everything that glitter is actually gold and you should never judge a book by it's cover..that was so freaking cliche but true. I actually found great pleasure in her vulnerability it made her real... well as real as a book character could possible be.

Now Alex... well if I am to be honest... I liked his character from the beginning... actually anytime you throw in a hot italian and some alpha male.. you got me hooked. He had a lot more redeeming qualities.. but Hot and alpha male are what drew me in like a moth to a flame...Okay okay I am done with the cliches..

This book is awesome, read it, tell a friend about it. I know I will be!

Signing off... Ba da ba ba ba I'm lovin' it!

The storm came in and did not let up. I absolutely love Ms. Braylee. She was a boss!! The chemistry between Braylee and Alex was undeniably. My favorite part was when after their first encounter, she handled herself like a true professional. I guess Alex wasn't expecting that. The part that got me was that her mother was a real B**CH!! How do you treat your child in such a manner where you blame her for your unhappiness, but expected her to keep paying for your bills!! That's ridiculous to me. I'm glad Braylee found out the truth for her mother dislike and I hope she can move on. Now the only thing I'm pissed about is that I have to wait almost six months for book two.

I'm feeling the storm.

Wow...from the cover to the last drippings....everything was well written and Lashawn did a great job piecing together the puzzles. Braylee and Alex comes together fast and strong...she is all tough on the exterior but is sweet and considerate about her friends and family...so is Alex...family is most important,so when Alex's brother is killed...he turns to Braylee who comes highly recommended by his very close friend...It's passionate, provocative and the secrets and lies starts to show who they can trust.

Just a great story that I really enjoyed. Braylee a badass take no prisoner kind of lawyer, standing shoulder to shoulder with the men in her profession, but there were cracks in her personal life. Alexandro the gorgeous and powerful businessman seeking her help to save his business. I liked Braylee take charged attitude and Alexandro's willingness to let her. They spent a great deal of time focusing on getting the job done but there were enough steam, to heat up the pages, that gave an intimate feel to the story, making me anxious to see what Book 2 brings.

Excellent

Very good from beginning to end. The main characters were well developed but could've spent a little more time on a few of the peripheral characters- like the brothers.

very good!!

i have enjoyed tremendously the journey of Braylee and Alexandro.
Brayley, a no nonsense badass lawyer, who owns her own law firm, one of the best in the country,
has a vulnerability about her that no one is privy to... She is beautiful, smart, wealthy, sexy as hell, speaking fluently several languages...among other things.
Meet her and she will tell you all about it, and her intriguing life with Mr Manchetti.

Her family is a mess! I don’t know how she did it.

This is really good! Braylee is a strong character and I love the way that Ms. Vasser shows her vulnerability especially with her family. I was so angry with her family and how they used Braylee at every turn. Alex is a perfect mate for her and now I am going to read the sequels to the Storm series!

Amazing!

Alex and Braylee are explosive together! They're both alphas but know how to be vulnerable for and with each other. The chemistry is on point and their "courtship" was nicely done.

The dysfunction in Braylee's family is so familiar, unfortunately. The mother daughter relationship is so volatile at times but her mom is just plain mean and Cray Cray! I'm pleased with the progress her dad is making but I don't hold out much hope for her mom.

The symbolism in the story is like a mini therapy session; I won't give it away but you'll see them clearly throughout this book.

The secondary characters were an integral part of the book and I can't wait to find out more about them. I feel Jeanine has more to do with the situation than what's been shown.

I knew going in it was book 1 of 2 but I did not know how quickly I would become engrossed in this book so waiting until December is going to kill me!

Kudos to the author on this one....HOLE IN ONE, TOUCHDOWN, AND NOTHING BUT NET!!!

Let me preface this by saying I love LaShawn Vasser make no mistake about it. But for some reason this was hard for me to read. I am trying to figure out the connection between Braylee and Alex romantically. IMO when I read the title I thought it mean't Braylee and Alex personalty clashing on every level while they fought their attraction thus the storm. I still haven't figure out who Alex is and maybe that's LaShawn intention for the next book. Braylee's family hot mess on so many levels and mommy dearest needs Jesus. The suspense part was more interesting than the actual romance between the main characters. I will read part 2 to see how it ends for Braylee and Alex.

Dayum, Dayum, Dayum!!!

A Storm came and went, but an even massive one is churning for "A Storm is Coming 2"! Great writing as usual LaShawn. Character chemistry was on point as with everything I've read from you. I love how you're not afraid to tackle very real social and family issues in your writing, which is the reason that you're one of my favorite authors. Alex and Braylee's story is a must read for anyone who loves reading explosive and intriguing love stories. I'm not sure if I can survive waiting until Christmas to read the second installation in this series. Dayum, Dayum, Dayum, lol.

Who TF is Gina? I know everyone who's read this book is wondering the same thing. Along with with: When is the next book due out? Braylee is one bad ass chick but Alex has got her number. But right when you think everything has been resolved enough to end the story, a new Chinese connection come thru and we are all blown away!
Again....who is Gina and why wasn't she mentioned until the end of the book? Once Alex found out who is behind the sabotage, he whispered her name like she was either a bad memory or the baddest b*tch he's ever encountered. This book surprised me in the best way. Can't wait for seconds.

Take Cover

Mrs. LaShawn Vasser deserves 5 stars for introducing us to Braylee Hinsdale. Bradley is one bad Bella in the corporate world. However, she I may be over compensating, her family life is dysfunctional. Not to mention her love life is void.

Now meet Alexandro Manchetti, an alpha male with business crisis and family tragedy. Put the two together as the term storm is an understatement.
I loved the content of this story, we had company hostile takeover attempts, single fatherhood, a family divided due to neglect and abuse.

if you like any of the above, this book is for you.

A Storm Is Coming

This is the first book I've read by LaShawn Vasser, but it will not be my last. It was the perfect blend of romance, intrigue and suspense. Even though I thought it started out a little slow it was able to hold my attention. I needed to know how things were going to turn out for Braylee and Alex and what would happen to his company. I would love for this book to be a movie.

And a storm it was!

I don't know how Mrs. Lashawn Vasser does it, but she manages to get better and better. Braylee and Alex were a couple who needed each other, but not without the storms. Who can you trust? Apparently, no one is off limits in this storm! Well-written and well done! Can't wait to see what happens in part 2!

A storm of emotions

The first page to the last page held my interest. We have a mystery and a falling in love story. Of course the mystery is not completely solved so I have to wait for part 2. The female lead was strong but flawed emotionally, and the author did show change during the middle of the book

A n Exciting Interracial Romance

A Storm is Coming is very good and exciting interracial romance novel that earned five stars. It is a suspenseful thriller that kept you guessing " who done it?" I enjoyed reading this book and found it also to be sensual as the couple began to fall in love. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys reading romantic mysteries.

What a storm

What a storm that this book brought! Braylee was a storm all by herself, and I loved it. It took a strong man like Alex to handle, admire, and love this strong woman. On to book two. I can't wait to see what storm will come through. I recommend reading this book.

Very Good

This book is very entertaining. Very few grammatical errors, however, some misused words. If you enjoy romance with an actual story, this is the book for you. I as m looking for more of the same from this author.
