It was just supposed to be one night. Just a good puck to forget all about the stress of her upcoming hockey game…

Charlie Lajoie is no stranger to hard work. One of the best players in the PWHL for the Toronto Succubi and the daughter of one of the best hockey players in the world, there’s a lot of pressure for her to succeed on Team Canada in the Milan Winter Games.

When Olive Miller is unceremoniously dumped by her girlfriend before their big Italy vacation, she decides to go on it alone to finally get the long-awaited break from work she so desperately needs.

A night of rest and relaxation is what both women need, and who better to turn to than a fellow Torontonian in Italy? What starts as one night to release some stress quickly turns into more as Charlie can’t help but fall for Olive. But can their whirlwind fling go from a good puck to lasting an entire season?

From cozy sapphic author Rochelle Wolf comes a new hockey romance full of high heat and low stakes.

A Good Puck is part of the Love On The Podium shared queer romance series.

Thank you to the author for providing me with an early copy of the audiobook via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review!

This is exactly what it says it is: a sapphic spicy hockey romance. you have to suspend disbelief to get enjoyment out of it.

It’s a short fun time! I hybrid read the ebook with the audio, which was nice.

the narrators did a fine job, but I wish it felt less like two narrators reading a story and more of being a fly on the wall and in the minds of the characters.

when I want a queer spicy sport romance, I will keep the author in mind to provide me with a read.

Thank you again!

very steamy and cute. for a book this short the author did a good job at not rushing their relationship, making them have deep conversations while still have fun. i loved the non-binary representation and all the sex positivity.

Thank you Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op | Aurora Inkwell Media for the audiobook arc in exchange of an honest review.

Listen if you like:
- Ice Hockey
- One night-stand turns into more
- Hot spicy audio
This is the 2nd audiobook I listened to through NetGalley. This one is narrated with 2 different female voices, although it is hard to distinguish them from one another, sometimes it seems like the one lady is just doing a different voice for the other character, a bit more butch for Charlie. Softer for Olive, when the Olive narrator is reading her perspective.
Olive was just dumped before she was supposed to go on a trip to Milan, Italy. Her suitcase is already packed, so she still decides to go by herself. Charlie is in Milan for the Winter Olympics. She is a professional hockeyplayer for Team Canada. On her first night Olive visits a bar and the bartender points out there is another Canadian in the bar. They get to talk and they start flirting. It immediately turns into a hot steamy sexscene. Told from both perspectives. But Olive doesn’t want to run into a new relationship right away and Charlie needs to focus on the sports. So it was supposed to be a one night only, or was it? Charlie is undecided after having the best sex of her life and finding a note in her jeans from Olive with her fullname and her phonenumber.
They can’t seem to stay away from eachother that long now.
So we get to listen to some more spicy scenes, shower, bedroom. There’s not much else happening here. Besides from the hockeygame scenes in between (boring…).
The story touches briefly a gender topic. Olive not sure how she should refer to Charlie during their lovemaking. Is she saying Good girl, or good boy? And after that Charlie’s pronouns quickly change to they/them… ok? No explanation there? She said she wasn’t sure how she’d like to be called… Thought it was a bit odd because the rest of the topic is not worked out.
Anyway, 3 starts because the audio of the bedroomscenes were well worked out and certainly not boring.

This sapphic hockey romance is really nice to read. The characters are Charli, a Canadian hockey player and Olive, also Canadian on vacation in Italy where the Olympics take place.
At first Olive doesn't know Charli is a professional hockey player in the women's team.

It goes quite fast, they f*ck in the first chapters but it's not a one night stand like they thought. They can't get enough of each other and I really like the chemistry between them. The scenes were really hot!!

Charli is masc and questioning their gender, Olive is cool with that and patient.

It was a nice read even though I found it too short and wanted more. I really liked the epilogue that takes place a few months after they came back to Canada.

Take a look around. Do you see a strong plot? News. Flash. You’re not gonna.

I had a great time reading this book, but baby, it’s mainly hunching lol. If that’s what you’re looking for, you’re in for a fun ride (no pun intended). The story follows to queer women/people on a trip in Italy, both their for individual reasons, they meet at a bar and have what is supposed to be a one night stand. They end up having multiple encounters and building a relationship of sorts.

I feel like aspects of their lives were touched on, but ultimately, this felt more like an erotica and less of a romance. I would love to learn more about how each character got through their problems with more than a fleeting paragraph or page. But again, I had a great time!

A Good Puck was a fun, cozy listen that knew exactly what it wanted to be. It’s short, doesn’t take itself too seriously, and was an easy book to settle into and enjoy.

Robin Amanda and Ann Dahlia both did a great job with the narration. I especially enjoyed having two narrators—it added to the experience and worked really well for this kind of story.

This was also my first introduction to the Love on the Podium shared queer romance universe, and I’m definitely interested in checking out the other stories now. This one didn’t need to be particularly deep or emotionally devastating to work for me. Sometimes a short, sweet, queer sports romance that makes you smile for a few hours is doing its job perfectly well.

I really loved these two and this book!
Olive and Charlie weren’t really looking for each other but they got a pleasant surprise finding each other while Charlie is in the Olympics and Olive is on a vacation that was meant to be with an ex who broke it off before the trip.
I appreciate Olive’s confidence helping Charlie come out of their shell. These two are too sweet and have such great chemistry I wish they were real people.
I love how they were able to be a safe landing place for each other. The exploration was hot and the spice was definitely top tier.
The audiobook was very enjoyable and the dual narration was done well.
I definitely recommend it!

4.5 ⭐️ overall Wonderful reread through audio! Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an advance listening copy for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Robin Amanda and Ann Dahlia performed Olive and Charlie perfectly. I loved how they brought the characters to new life! The tone and pacing was on point.

For a novella, so much took place with feelings and desires and it was lovingly done. While the epilogue was wonderful, I would love to see more as Charlie really leans into their identity.

I recommend both forms of reading or maybe even companion reading!

An entertaining, spicy dual POV Sapphic hockey romance by a fav indie Canadian author that is now available on audio. I enjoyed this one a lot even though I wished it was a bit longer. FF hockey love stories are some of my fav and this one is perfect for fans of authors like Rachel Reid and Emily Silver's Toronto Rosebud series. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review!

This was short, sweet + very spicy! I enjoyed the Italian setting and am always here for Canadian representation. The chemistry between the two leads leapt off the page (or out of my headphones).
The narrators did a great job, and I'll definitely keep an eye out for future releases by Rochelle.

The only reason I’m giving this a 4 star is that it was to short for me to get super invested. However this was amazing. Suuuuper hot. Loved the characters and always a plus when there’s no third act break up!! Truly recommend 😍

Insta love + cringe is not a good combination 🫤

The spice was good and the characters were interesting but other than that it could’ve been an email
