Eeeekkkkk this story was just absolutely WOW. It was like I was watching a Medical show with a horror romance story line. The whole time I was getting the ewww gross and within minutes I'd be getting the warm and fuzzies and then the next page would send me right back to ewwww really that's fricken gross Ashlynn giggling the whole time. While this story has little to NO spice y'all the banter and tension between the FMC Lenora and the MMC August was absolutely on fire and will make you blush. But y'all seriously the story line itself was just written so beautifully, so tortured, so heartbreaking, so sensual and yearningful ( idk if thats a word but you'll know what I mean when you read this 🤭🤭 )
I absolutely recommend this story 100,000 times over but y'all check them triggers because if you have a weak stomach you may not want to read this but its SOOOOOOO Gooood y'all seriously
What an amazing story that kept me going omg! Wtf! And what did I just read?! This story was so different and I absolutely devoured this in one sitting and couldn't stop. Ashlynn can write anything and I'll read it!
Molt broke me. Ashlynn broke me. I cried and cried. It was beautiful story, but it cut deep, and of course, I loved it. I wasn't sure what to expect going in, but that wasn't it. I love a book that comes out of left field and throws me something completely different from anything else I've read.
I want more Lenora and August. I wanted Molt to be longer. I want to know each individual story from every *encounter*. I want to know how they first met. I want to experience the moment August first realized he would love Lenora until there was nothing left if him. I want this review to make more sense to you, but I don't want to give too much away either. I just want to convince you to read it, love it and then be mad at Ashlynn, too. 🤭 Look, all I can say is that if you like your dark romance to feature...
🦋 Body Horror 🦋 Identity Loss/Loss of Self into Someone Else 🦋 Memory Loss 🦋 Unreliable Narration 🦋 Detailed Descriptions of Molting 🦋 Specimen Preservation
...and crying like a baby as you read, then you absolutely need to read Molt. It will make you smile, scream, cry and contemplate some deep, bleak stuff when you're done. Obviously this one's pretty dark and you need to check out the trigger warning and content lists. Please. This is horror, yes, but it's so much more. Some of the topics within these pages could be damaging to your mental well-being. Please take care of you first. And if you feel like it's a story you can handle, I hope you love it like I do. I hope it makes you stop and think, like it did me.
Happy reading!!
Story : ✔️✔️✔️✔️✔️ Gore/Body Horror : 🩸🩸🩸🩸 Over All : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Unlike any erotic horror I’ve ever read, and honestly, after finishing this, my psychological health may need to be evaluated. Because this level of obsession, love, and absolutely unhinged devotion? Yeah. This is what I expect my husband to have for me. 😂
Yes, it’s gruesome. Yes, it’ll make your stomach turn. Yes, it’s a TAD creepy. (cough cough specimen jars cough cough) But underneath all of that, it’s also a story that genuinely makes you think about just how far you’d be willing to go for love (and apparently my answer is concerning).
I agree with fellow readers on a lot of things when it comes to this book, but the BIGGEST one?
Ashlynn wrote this so damn well that I need more.
I don’t just want a little more, either. I want Lenora and August from DAY. ONE. Give me the beginning. Give me the obsession developing. Give me all the little moments that eventually led us here. I want their entire story because somehow I finished an erotic horror involving specimen jars and walked away thinking, “but wait… I need more of their love story”. 😭😂
Ashlynn has always been an auto-read/auto-buy author for me, and Molt just continues to prove exactly why.
My first ever book from Ashlynn, and damn, we’re starting with a bang! This book was a rollercoaster I was more than happy to hop on. It was disturbing, haunting, and completely addictive.
I loved Lenora and August, and their banter was hands down amazing. The amount of feelings this story brought out of me was INSANE. I cried. I stared at the wall. I wanted to scream. I was blushing and smiling. The whole ass emotional spectrum.
The pacing also worked beautifully in this one. It’s not a long read, but I devoured it in one sitting because I HAD to know what the hell was happening. And THE TWIST?! It left me open mouthed, gaping like a damn fish. And that ending?! Holy smokes. That ending was absolutely insane!!! I need more, please and thank you!
One thing, though your mental health is important, so if you have triggers, please check the trigger warnings for this one before jumping in because it gets HEAVY.
Thank you, Ashlynn, for trusting me with an ARC! This was the first book I’ve read from her, but it definitely won’t be the last.
Ashlynn does it again. She took body horror, gothic atmosphere, and cursed/fated lovers and somehow made it crawl under my skin and refuse to leave.
This short dual-POV erotic horror novella is pure Ashlynn: that obsessive, devoted, “I’ve loved you across every lifetime” energy mixed with the kind of visceral body horror that makes you flinch and still keep turning the pages. He remembers every version of her. She doesn’t. The forced proximity and forbidden touch hit hard, and the whole “touch her and suffer” protectiveness is deliciously unhinged. It feels complete and intense. The tension is thick, and that mix of emotional and physical intensity is exactly why I keep coming back to her. If you like your dark romance with actual teeth (skin-shedding, transformation, gothic dread—the works), this one delivers.
Ashlynn remains the queen of wrecking me in the best possible way. Instant favorite.
This story is strange, grotesque, intimate, heartbreaking, and intentionally uncomfortable 🖤
Nothing is what it seems. But once the pieces fall together, you realise all the signs were there from the very beginning.
We follow Lenora, who wakes in the middle of the night as something strange starts happening to her body. Strangely enough, her neighbour upstairs, August, already knows. Instead of telling her what’s happening, he feeds her lies and half-truths until she starts noticing the same strange things happening to him.
They spend the night uncovering what the heck is going on, but one thing is clear. August is a complete stranger to her… and yet, deep in her bones, she knows him. You could even say she loves him. Has loved him over lifetimes. But how much can you give someone before they disappear? 🤔

I couldn't put this down! The characters and the storyline are portrayed perfectly! It hooked me from the first sentence. I read it in 2 hours!
The banter, the confusion (in a good way) and the wtf's! Ashlynn managed to keep me wanting more AGAIN! I felt like I was Lenora in parts, August in others and then then ending! Woah I thought I was standing right next to them when the events unfolded! Girl I need another one and a therapist too! And the title. Well all I am going to say is, it definitely fits the story! The emotion in this book is a rollercoaster.
My goodness… I don’t even know what to say after finishing the story… It’s definitely different than anything I’ve read from this author previously, with that being said I DEVOURED it in hours. There’s definitely potential for triggers, so check tw page if you’re not into the horror side of things. I was just completely blown away by this book.… for me this was an example of like the perfect toxic relationship. Losing yourself in someone is so hard and this, took it to the very extreme in the best way you could for a horror romance story. I will be raving about this book for a long time to come…
Now I want to know if that ending has the potential for a book 2 because I would read 1000 more pages in this story if I could. Absolutely phenomenal.
WOW!!! 🤯 This was such a good freaking book. This is so different from other books Ashlynn has wrote. It is such a weird ride when you first start reading it but in such a good way but it’s also a tragically good love story. You definitely don’t think when you start reading it that it will have you crying/tearing up a couple different times. I could not out it down and when it ended I literally wanted/needed more. The ending definitely left your mind running and rethinking about everything you just read. Absolutely another banger from Ashlynn, she truly blows my mind with all the books that she gives us. Please check your trigger warnings before reading.
Ashlynn has done it again! Molt was both grotesque and haunting, yet still utterly captivating at the same time. Lenora and August‘s story pulled me in from page one and didn’t let go. The body horror in this one had me feeling queasy at times, but I couldn’t look away. Rather, I found myself flying through the pages to see how the horrors would evolve and questioning why I was into it. This is a love story at its core, but don’t come looking for spice. And the twist towards the end? I didn’t see it coming and was shook! Overall, I would highly recommend this one if you don’t mind graphic body horror!
This book was absolutely insane!! I had a very hard time putting it down. The way it is written makes it flow so quick that you can't help but keep reading. This story is heartbreaking and shocking. It was really interesting to find out the characters back story in between the events that are happening. Revelations galore and I didnt know what was coming next at any point in this book which made it very exciting to me. There's great imagery in here as well even though it's grotesque, but I didn't mind because I love that stuff. Of course it ends on a cliffhanger from the cliffy queen so I'm excited to see what comes next!!
“I would rather lose you because I loved you than spend another life wondering what it felt like” 🥹😭
This is a love story between August and Lenora. A very sad love story. It’s quick and it’s sweet. This story is not her usual style but it’s written just a beautifully. This man loves her, and I found it interesting from the very beginning . The way she wrote this was amazing. The story is so intriguing it grips you right from the start. Its different from her other books but i still loved every minute of it
Although this book is a love story please check the trigger warnings as it does contain some disturbing topics.
This is one of the strangest books I have read in a long time. But at the same time it’s not a bad book. I just needed to get my head around the weirdness. I will admit that I got all the way to the end and I’m not 100% sure I understand what is going on but I think I have the basics down. August loved Lenora too much and his love for her is still too strong many many decades later.
Part of me hopes that it ended on a cliff=hanger with that dude at the end but part of me hopes that the ending was all that I needed. I suppose it will all depend on how long I continue thinking about it.
Ashlynn has created another beautifully, morbid love story that will have you turning the pages. And questioning what you just read. I devoured August and Lenora's tragic love story. Loved their banter and the twists just kept coming until the very last page. Please check TW before reading. Otherwise deranged darklings get settled in for this quick read that will steal your heart. And make you want more. All the while Ashlynn is giggling quietly waiting to see how we enjoyed all the body parts and her characters. Yup 😊 Enjoy 🤗🖤
Yet again, Ashlynn kills it with this one! It's creepy, traumatic, heart wrenching and a bit gorey at times. It's the perfect little spooky read if you are in the mood to lose your appetite as well as cry your heart out for the MC's. And you will cry, there are decades to cover and so much heart break 😭 Be sure to read the author's note and Content warnings prior to jumping into Molt. If you can handle those, enjoy the ride 🦎
This was a super quick read but it was still so good! For starters there is not a lot of spice so please don’t go into it thinking there is. This book is a little different than what Ashlynn usually gives us in my opinion. It is, however, filled with body horror and banter. Lenora and August were so good together. Ashlynn did an amazing job with their relationship. I couldn’t put this one down from the very beginning. I can’t wait to see what’s next from Ashlynn!!
Molt absolutely destroyed me. I cried and cried. An oddly heartfelt story with so many twists. I could not stop reading. I had to find out what was coming next. Every word just kept pulling me in deeper and deeper. Ashlynn knows what buttons to push and what strings to pull. I wish I had better words for this story. You just have to read it to understand. Just check those triggers. A wonderful devastating story.
Molt is a fast paced, in your face wild ride of swirly-whirly goodness that will leave your knickers twisted and gut properly sucker punched.
The horror of this mind f*ck is beautifully done, properly shattering the heart and soul. It hooks you with curiosity and psychological warfare from the get go and never lets you free.
It will make you question your sanity on more than one instance and the jump scares are priceless. You will definitely want more.
I love story like none I’ve ever read before. One that captures you the entire way. The back in forth between August and Lenora so simple yet a deep look into them and how deep their love goes. A grotesque love story that twists your mind with every turn of the page. One you want to look away but yet can’t at the same time. Unique compared to my other reads but yet another book by Ashlynn I couldn’t stop reading.
I was curious when I picked up this novella from Ashlynn. It was said to be an erotic horror but in my opinion it is definitely just a heart wrenching body horror book. I did spend most of this novella confused on what was happening, which by the end I could definitely tell that was on purpose. It is a short read and if the beginning didn’t hook you the end definitely will. Check out this book today!
Molt is heartbreaking and frustrating, but so captivating and gripping. It’s a shocking tale that shows you what love and grief can make a person agree to. I’m not sure what I just read, but I do know that I couldn’t put it down and had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next. After finishing it, I still need to know what’s going to happen next!
Molt by Ashlynn Welcome to the dark side. Where the characters will wrap you up and spit you out, devour you and consume you. It’s a short story, I read this in one setting but it stayed with me all night. It’s a love story that fits into horror, obsession, possession on repeat. A sacrifice with no ends. Let that sink in! Ready to have sleepless nights?
Oh my my! This is definitely different than what Ashlynn usually writes and I am not complaining about it! This was a gruesomely intriguing and captivating fast paced story! I ate this up! It’s a grotesque love story! I highly recommend!
Whoa!! What did I just read?!?! This was just kept completely absorbed. Romance, horror and twists that rocked my mind. Not just a read but an experience!! This author is constantly keeping my eyes in her books and this is another 5 star read!
Lenora and Augusta dark twisting read will have you, captivated and confuzzled at times too but stick through for a emotional rollor coaster ride! Well written the story telling and characters development holds your attention to the high twisting story
I loved this! It's creepy in the best way & is Lenora & Augusts' story! She notices her neighbor after she moves in & doesn't realize a lot of things. They've known each other for a long time. I did not see that ending & I loved it! Recommend this novella & author.
Ash this book was crazy good I love the mystery of this book it was like you thought you figured it out but it's still some unanswered questions and the what ifs this book was a 10 outta 10 you left me wanting more
A love that spans decades but hurts many people in the process including themselves. This story stats off creepy and only gets darker as you read. By the end of the book my heart was aching for the main characters.
