This is a deliciously dark, suspenseful, spicy crime/thriller romance. I literally devoured this in one day because I had to know who was behind the disappearances AND because the chemistry/tension between Bishop and Rachel had me panting for more.
Jameson Bishop is an older, hardened FBI agent on a case involving missing couples and an animal like predator in the Appalachians. Rachel Williams is his younger coworker, who takes it on herself self to tag along when he plans to go alone after they lose an agent assigned to the case. She’s not his first choice, but not for the reasons you might think. You can feel the tension, frustration, and longing from their first interaction.
I’m still in shock at how this story ends, most definitely not what I saw coming. It was such a perfect balance of romance and plot. The suspense keeps you guessing and the last 20% will have you flipping pages so fast to see what happens next.
The spice is HAWT. There’s so much tension between Rachel and Bishop. Both want the other desperately, but for their owns reasons are holding themselves back. When they do let go and act on their desires it is raw, filthy, and a bit feral in the best ways possible. I was blushing a lot during the spicy scenes, talk about compatibility, these two were meant for each other; both have dark cravings that only the other can satisfy.

So so good!
This was really good! It was much spicier than I was expecting and I was pleasantly surprised. Love the crime/thriller trope. Love the age gap. Love the internal monologs the MCs had. Now I'm going back to the 1st book!

Twist ending! I was blown away by the ending and how it was revealed- no spoilers!
I just stared at the page, because what?!
Who did it vibe, the legends, the buildup and then boom.
Loved it.
The characters were so interesting and reading from both perspectives made it a more immersive experience. I love the internal dialogue and real sense of connection between the characters.
The romance between them is all at once sweet and steaming hot.
Their compatibility is strong even though they fight against it- the forbidden angle really works with the storyline and adds a whole different kind of tension, and I love that every fight feels like foreplay. You will love this book.

I could not put this book down. I had to know what was going to happen next. Chapter by chapter it just twisted and turned, and I did not see the ending coming.
The spice did not disappoint! I wasn't expecting how fast the tension and buildup was going to boil over. Their chemistry was wild.
