The Prospect of Wings

Rate this book
The 80 poems that make up this collection were all written in a transitional period, between confusion and conviction, between resentment and betterment, between childhood and adulthood. These poems map a process of change and growth that is both wholly individual and accessible by all.

Heartfelt, powerful, poignant, and at times raw, this is poetry at its most honest.

That was quite a ride, artistically and emotionally. The poems are sometimes sweet, sometimes elegant, sometimes visceral. The author has a strong sense of rhythm, reminiscent of spoken performances, which really adds something to his work. It feels intimate, at times, almost like a long conversation over a cup of whatever the poet drinks. While it's not quite professionally edited - there are some typos, and it seems that punctuation may run on rules of expression rather than strict grammar - it is an enjoyable volume by a talented young man, and it is a pleasure to have in my hands.

Rarely formal, often raw, this collection offers lots of food for thought and some outstanding poetic moments. 'The Young' Is one of the best: "And our pockets are empty/Except for our hands..."
