Young children are fascinated with weather and the seasons. Here's a book that teaches them about different types of weather and shows them how to dress for each different day.
Hello, World! is a series designed to introduce first nonfiction concepts to babies and toddlers. Told in clear and easy terms and featuring bright, cheerful illustrations, Hello, World! makes learning fun for young children. Each sturdy page offers helpful prompts for engaging with your child (“Look out the window. What is the weather like today?”) plus simple scientific facts ("Mornings are cooler than afternoons because the sun doesn’t shine overnight.") It’s a perfect way to bring science and nature into the busy world of a toddler, where learning never stops.
Look for all the books in the Hello, World! • Solar System • Weather • Backyard Bugs • Birds • Dinosaurs • My Body • How Do Apples Grow? • Ocean Life • Moon Landing • Pets • Arctic Animals • Construction Site • Rainforest Animals • Planet Earth • Reptiles • Cars and Trucks • Music • Baby Animals • On the Farm • Garden Time • Planes and Other Flying Machines • Rocks and Minerals • Snow • Let's Go Camping • School Day
Really good intro to basic weather conditions. Good visuals but the amount of colors was a bit distracting as was the way the words were scattered across the page
Hello, World! Weather by Jill McDonald is an example of a science fiction that targets an age group of 3 to 6 years old. The Hello, World! Weather provides fact information’s about the solar system and how the solar provides weather on the earth. For example, the sun makes the earth hot. I gave five stars for this book for the illustration is engaging and appropriate for the children. In addition, Hello, World! Weather is also available in eBook. The book is good material for visual learner and students that need technical assistance. The book provides a simple explanation and words for children to be able to understand and comprehend it. I can use this book as the introduction of my Science lesson plan standardized by state curriculum. I can use this book to provide more information’s about the earth, weather, and solar system. I can print out the pages from the eBook and I can use it as their booklet about solar system and weather. I can also use the eBook for my students that need technology when it comes in learning. In addition, I can use the information on this book to accommodate my own explanation and lesson plan.
A charming introduction to weather, plenty of animals for young ones to spot along the way and a great idea to pair appropriate clothing which each distinction of weather.
Confused at what to wear when its windy out? Have no fear, this book will teach you all about the proper attire for any weather situation. With big yet simplistic illustrations that look almost child like and labeled clothing this board book can also help young children as they become more independent dressers.
I give this book a solid 4. I like how this book can become interactive with the labeled pictures and also educational with a how-to dress for the weather lesson. This book is a quick read with larger words so beginning readers can read along. I would introduce this book to a pre-k and kindergarten classroom as we explore the weather. I could challenge them each day to justify their outfit choices with the current weather conditions developing their reasoning skills as well as awareness of the outside world.
Rowan and I have, I think, enjoyed every volume of the Hello, World! series we've done. This one might, however, be the weakest--at least for me. So it's a soft four stars. Probably because it feels like a little less fun and a touch harder to understand. But that may be because the concept of weather is a little more difficult to teach than some of the animal-specific titles we've liked. In any case, this is still very good, offering lots of different objects to identify. Plenty of images and words for kids to learn. Rowan never has a bad time with it. And he loves seeing the dog throughout the seasons.
This book shows kids what the best outfit to wear for each type of weather is. It goes through the different seasons and even shows kids a fun activity that can go along with it! I think this is a great book since it has a very upbeat tone and lots of great colors. I would recommend this book to early age readers who are showing an interest in the weather or outdoors. There is not any diversity in this book which would have been great to see.
Super cute and fun read for toddlers and pre-schoolers. Gives me lots of Blue's Clues vibes with the art style. I think this would make a wonderful and fun read to your little ones and you could pair it with a weather activity to have them match different outfits to the appropriate weather condition for further understanding.
I think I will try to add this into my weather themed storytime even though the book is a little on the small side.
The Hello World! Weather book talked about different types of weather (sunny, cool, windy, snowy, and raining) and what you should wear in each type of weather. It has really cute, bright illustrations and simple sentences perfect to read aloud to toddlers. You could do activities with weather and articles of clothing.
I really like this series of nonfiction board books. The text is perfect for preschoolers, or you can just do the big text for younger. Some of the clothing choices seemed off, but I think she was just trying to not repeat clothes. And it's more about what you wear with different types of weather, than what and when it is.
I love the topic and the content, but the presentation wasn't as tight as all of the other "Hello, World!" books. The reader must notice and remember that content for each weather condition (hot, windy, cool, snowy, rainy) is spread over four pages, including one page-turn. You will learn about what causes certain types of whether and what clothes to wear.
I feel this book could have been a lot better. Taking a whole page to show off the clothes that one would wear in that weather felt a bit cheap. It would have been fun to see more weather or talk about it for more than one far off shot of the house. So this book isn't as popular as the others.
This picture book is great for teaching about rainy, sunny, snowy, and windy conditions and the appropriate attire for each. I let Fletcher guess the weather on each page and tell me what clothing he thought the children should put on.
A simple book about different types of weather and what you might wear in them. I like that it includes sunny but cool. That one tricks me all the time.
Very informative and interactive with lots of questions, descriptions. Answering questions like: What kinds of clothes should we wear? why does the weather do that?
Super cute book that has children interact with what the weather is like outside! Also contains info like sunburn/uv rays and why sunscreen is important.. etc.
