Calypso, Queen of the Seas, is mad. Spitting mad. Ghosts of the dead are fouling her waters. She wants this problem fixed, and she wants it fixed now. Rushing off in search of Hades, Lord of the Underworld, to demand answers, she’s soon shocked to discover him bound and standing trial before a jury of his peers—for nothing less than murder. Calypso normally despises the beastly gods, all of them, but there’s something about seeing Hades bound as he is that gives her an evilly clever idea. Tired of being a virgin queen, she wishes to shed that boring image once and for all, and no one seems quite as fit for the task as the gorgeous and brooding Hades. Of course, there is the minor problem of murder to deal with, but Calypso is bound and determined to have her way. And when a dark queen gets an idea, nothing and no one can stand in her way…
Well ..... if I could have given this book no stars I would have.
I downloaded this book purely on impulse, as I thought the cover was absolutely beautiful. This was definitely a lesson to 'not judge a book by it's cover'. It was also available for free with my Kindle Unlimited trial ... so at least I didn't waste any money on it.
I pretty much have nothing positive to say about it so will keep this brief. The writing is dreadful, with an appalling use of slang and other ridiculous made up words. I almost launched my kindle across the room at the repeated use of the word 'hawt' ... The storyline just made me cringe with how bad it was. The only positive is it was at least quite a short book, and I was determined to finish so I could at least write a genuine review, and I hate leaving books unfinished.
Surprisingly I won't be reading any of the sequels, and doubt I will read anything else by this author in a hurry.
This book is definitely 5 stars. When I read the first 15 pages, I was a little bit disappointed, because I had expected something different. I thought that Calypso was incredibly stupid and I got mad.
Calypso: "I waved a hand, shushing him instantly. - I'm here to see Hades. He does still live here, right?"
Me: NO, he obviously got bored of the Underworld and instead took off for Hawaii...
It was like...Alexa Riley met the Greek mythology. I love the Greek mythology SO SO MUCH!
And even though I`ve read almost all of Alexa Riley`s stories and I appreciate her dirty imagination and the variety, I almost never give them 5 stars. Yes, and got all the stars from me, but they were all fluffy, cute and ADORABLE! Whereas was just discusting.
So, with Alexa Riley I either LOVE IT or HATE IT. There is no inbetween!
But then I said to myself, Hey, you don`t judge a book until it has a chance to reveal itself. And so, I kept reading. And it kept getting more and more AMAZING!
When I was in 5th grade, we learnt the Greek mythology for the first time. And our theacher (who is just amazing) told us that people often imagined the gods like humans who experienced all the fights, intrigues, feelings and disappointments. But it was accepted that it is wrong to think that, because OH, THEY ARE GODS, GREATER THAN HUMANS, THAT RUINS THEIR AUTHORITY, THEY DON`T DO WORRIED AND SO ON...
Well, HERE they do:
WORRIED
CURSING
YELLING
FUCKING
GOING AROUND NAKED
BEING CHILDISH, SELF-CENTERED A-HOLES
TORTURE
INTRIGUE
BEING GAY (I DON`T THINK I`LL EVER EAT CARROTS AGAIN)
AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST: ORGY (I`M LOOKING AT YOU, ZEUS)
Basically:
It`s like a Greek gods edition of the reality show Big Brother. (I despise that show, but the gods are so lovely when they act like that...)
SOOOO THAT WAS MY FANGIRL MODE, I`LL SWITCH IT OFF FOR JUST A LITTLE
The main heroine is Calypso, also known as Thalassa. She is a Primordial, one of the four elements of the universe. Goddess of the Sea (a.k.a. older and mightier than the Gods of the Pantheon.) She doesn`t have a human body, but she can create one for herself is she wants. She IS water, her children are the water creatures, she sees and hears and feels everything that is happening in her oceans. And because there is water in everything (human body included), she is basically LIFE itself. And she is a virgin Queen Mother for eternity, while all the creatures around her are enjoying themselves very opnely and she sees it all. Which kind of sucks, you know?
One day, she finds her waters to be flooding with ghosts of dead bodies and she goes rigid. Visiting the Pantheon for the first time in a million years, (because she despises those a-holes) she is quite surprised to find that Hades, dearest Lord of the Underworld is all bound and accused for killing his beloved Persephone. Well, not exactly beloved...
"Golden dew" was how Linx referred to Persephone, Goddess of Spring, and Hades`...something. The tales were never quite clear on those two.
Turns out she`s been missing for a while and they can`t find her body anywhere and Demeter is jumping to conclusions. Anyways, Calypso immediately likes Hades` appearance and I totally understand her, YOU MUST BE BLIND NOT LIKE THAT:
"What I spied was more than I`d expected. Not only was Zeus here, but there was a crowd of gods. A pantheon of them, in fact. And at the very center was a giant of a man shackled in iron and yet holding his head high as he glared holy fury at the lot of them." ... "-When had Hades gotten to be so hawt?" ... "I looked back at Hades and realized that somehow I`d taken two steps closer to his side. I sniffed as his scent seemed to draw around me-patchouli and wood smoke. It was oddly...interesting." ... "-What are they doing to Hades? When I said his name, I looked back at him and again experienced a wonderfully delicious sensation of heat whipping like lava through my veins. He had a face that would make a master sculptor weep. Classically handsome, with dark, swarhty features. Deep, impenetrable eyes." ... "-Whew, Aphrodite lifted her hand off me and shook her fingers. -You`re positively brimming with raw lust. So you want to have Count Dracula`s babies, do you?" ... "He tasted of power, divine, magnificent, colossal power. Every inch of my body felt electrified by his deadly touch." ... "I do hear you, you know." His voice was a deep, almost seductive purr, and it made me frown. ... "You should know that while Hades appears coarse and even at times cruel, he is lonely. More lonely than any of us. Treat him kindly." ... "He was brilliant, his body corded and tight with ropey muscle. His shapely chest rose and fell while his stomach contracted with his breath, causing his abdominals to flex and strain. I frowned to note he was covered in slash marks from the bottom of his chin to just above the dark thatch of curls between his legs. But I soon forgot about the scars at the sight of his lovely cock. Long and veiny, the color of his flesh reminded me of wet sand." ... "He was as he usually was, lying on the bed, nibling on a tray of chesses and nuts and reading a book. He had a very dark, sexy nerd appeal to him when he did that. It drove me wild."
I imagine him to be a little bit like Ezra Miller, but with more muscle. Anyways, he has black eyes and black hair, he`s wearing a black suit with a black tie and is reading a book with black cover!
YEAH, I KNOW, HE LOVES COLORS!
Anyways, THE ROMANCE in this book is the most amazing thing! Hades is a true gentleman (which some writers today just don`t know how to pull off) and Calypso is caring and funny and she fights and protects what she cares for. I can`t say it with words, it is a tale of Life and Death finding and cherishing each other. And it`s very well written. I can`t even, just read those adorable quotes and you`ll understand...
Hades thinking of Calypso: I couldn`t hide my grin. I`d always thought of the seas as being deep but placid - impenetrable and at times terrifying, but also awe inspiring. I`d mistakenly attributed those traits to Calypso as well, and I could not have been more wrong. Oh, she was awe inspiring, but there was nothing placid about this woman. She had the tongue of a shrew and a body built to inspire odes. ... Then what? I don`t know. Gods, she rolled her eyes, my words so often confound me. You make me feel like a woman, Hades, I supppose is what I`m trying to say. ... I love it when you fill me, Hades. I swear I can see stars when you`re inside me. ... I miss you, Thalassa, each day, each night. My realm feels empty without you in it. ... Woman, you will be the death of me. (I wonder where you`ll go, Hades, hahaha) ... I love you, Death Boy, I whispered. And I you, Thalassa, forever, for always, eternally. Oh, swoon, you say the sweetest things.
There are two more characters, Themis and Aphrodite, they were adorable.
Themis:I came to Themis`s cave home not even an hour later. Loud music emanated from the very walls of the cave itself. For a cave, the place was far from dank and honestly quite cozy. The rock was a splendid color of dusky rose, gems of all sorts veined all through it... Themis was dressed in blue jean shorts and a colorful crop top and was currently dancing her booty off, shaking her groove thang from one spot to the next.
Aphrodite:Okay then. Aphrodite shrugged. It`s been swell. You kids have fun, stay safe, and don`t ever change for the world. Oh, I just adore you guys! You`re like my new super team.
In short,
READ THIS BOOK!!!!!
It`s funny, it`s adorable, it`s sexy, it`s well written and it doesn`t leave you `till the last page! IT`S WORTH IT!
I loved everything about this book! I picked it up because I needed a book told from a villain's perspective. Hades is definitely a "villain" and Calypso is described as mad. But I quickly fell in love with Caly and "Death Boy". Calypso is also so naive when it comes to love...and talking in general. I loved listening to the hilarious things that came out of her mouth! This book was entertaining with every turn of the page! I am eager to continue the series and meet more Dark Queens :)
This was a disaster from beginning to end. The portrayal of the characters is poorly done and has nothing to do with Greek mythology, in my opinion. The worst thing is that I felt like the plot was decorating the sex scenes, which were clearly the purpose of this whole thing (and weren't too good actually). There's close to no character development. Like, one day Calypso, a virgin goddess awakes, sees "hawt Hades" and decides she wants to have him. And we have to believe that the sum of those sex scenes leads to love, somehow. A cringe-worthy relationship, no doubt. And perhaps this is something that bothered me personally, but they felt so anachronical. Talking as if they were teenagers, with silly idioms and slang. And we're never given a clue about what year or era it is. Yet they have an "Oliver Twist" book around.
A greek mythology retelling. With lots of sexy times.
After Hades is accused of murdering Persephone. Calypso, the powerful water elemental, keeps him as her prisoner while the Olympians investigate the disappearance of Persephone. But Calypso has ulterior motives, she wishes to be a virgin Goddess no more and Hades is the first male to catch her attention.
I loved this book, I was severely tempted to give it a 5-star. But being honest with myself, I know it wasn't quite there for me. It was a super fun read though, and the way Calypso mixes up words is lots of fun. This is a smutty book though, so if you don't like that then I wouldn't read this one. But if you like greek mythology, romance, and lots of smut, than your going to love this book.
I think the only thing that I may question is the beginning of the relationship. She binds him to the bed naked. It's not a matter of him not being willing, because he is. But willing or not, if the roles were reversed, there would be serious rapey vibes happening.
Recommended age 18+ Lots of graphic sex and some bondage. Also, there are mentions of rape and false rape accusations for those with triggers.
The book is fun and hilarious. That's the only way I can describe it. The storyline is somewhat easy going, besides the fact of Calypso and every other god having a short temper. There was only small temper tantrums to contend with and maybe a few threats of torture for a millennia. You know, nothing intense. I truly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the rest of the series.
I loved this book so much. 100 points to Calypso and Hades!
The Sea Queen was one of those books that I was supposed to BR last month but never found time to. Luckily, I found some this month. I'm so happy that I dove into this book because it was hilarious. The love between Calypso and Hades was real and I'm so happy that they found happiness.
Now Calypso is the one person you don't want to piss off. She's such a bad ass and super powerful. I loved her. Mostly because of her name because that was the same name as my first dog. Oh, how I miss that beautiful boy. Anyway, she wanted Hades and I wanted to know why.
Boy was the smut good between them. I wish I got more. I laughed so hard when carrots were mentioned. Other than that, I liked getting to know this version of Hades. He was wonderful and sounded hot. I loved how they didn't want to fall in love but in the end, it happened. They were great together.
Other than all of that, I loved seeing all of the other gods. They were hilarious and I can't wait to dive into the next book.
Im a moody reader and the blurb made me think, lets try this.
The story is narrated by Calypso and Hades and both had distinct voices. Calypso was a primordial Goddess, stronger and older than most Gods and Goddesses. She had a modern, sarcastic voice and a hippocampus as her companion. ( I don't know why I kept picturing underwater feminine hippos as I read it )
She was a curious mix of old and new, innocent and wise. She can take any form she wants but is trying to learn the ways of humans after being a recluse for ages. She was known as the virgin goddess and was excited to change this status. Her idea of restraint had me in splits...
Hades and Persephone's relationship has never been my idea of happily ever after. I have a soft spot for Hades and was glad he got a second chance at true love.
Hades was thoughtful, sweet and always dressed in black. He was hurt but not bitter, which was quiet moving. He was a true gentleman, unheard of these days.
Calypso saves Hades from the muder trial and keeps him as her sex slave. Both planned to keep their hearts under lock and key, but we know what happens to well laid plans. I liked how the minor characters were presented, especially Aphrodite, Nimue and Themis.
I really enjoyed this story and will definitely read the next in this series.
The Sea Queen is not an easy one for me to review.
First off, I am absolutely IN LOVE with the cover. It's amazing!
This is the first book I have read by Jovee Winters. I had a really difficult time immersing myself in Kingdom. I love a good book laced with witty banter and silly one-liners but that being said I found it hard to take seriously. Getting through the first half was a struggle for me.
But in the second half when we meet the true, intelligent and ancient Calypso, it was much easier to fall in love with her character. I loved the originality - reading retellings of Persephone and Hades can get old. But Calypso and Hades? Refreshing and new!
AND THAT COVER! Amiright?!
All and all, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quick, fun read. I plan on reading more from Jovee Winters in the future.
*Note: I received a copy of this book in return for my honest review. I’ve read books by this author in the past…but have really felt a stronger appreciation for her after reading this book. Firstly- if you’ve read any books from the previous series situated in this Universe (Kingdom Series, The Dark Princesses) you are in the loop as to what kind of world has been created for this amazing story to take place. IF you’re new and just checking out this book and are on the fence: you won’t be disappointed. Buy the book. Now I am not one to ever offer too much information in my reviews as I dislike spoilers, and you can get a basic idea of what the book is about from the product info section (synopsis). With that being said I don’t wish to ruin anything of this book…I can simply say the symbolism placed to covet the relationship of Life & Death is so well done with the characters. If you want to look for deep meanings in this book, they are there. If you want a great book with good characters, some humour, romance and just a good ol’ “can’t stop till I’m done reading” then this book is guaranteed to be right for you. I could not stop reading until I finished, it was that good. I can say honestly I have read it more than once, just to enjoy all the complex and amazing – well everything – about this story. Love in all its many splendors is simple, everyone good or bad deserves love. And if you can love, you really can’t be all that bad…now can you? Read the book, enjoy the book…and I hope you agree once you have this book is amazing and I look forward to reading more of the series in the future. Should you buy the book and like it...review it. This author deserves it, she’s earned it.
Oh my gosh, Im in love with the "Bubble But" or better known as Hades. :-)
In the mythical world where anything is possible love can be found in the most unlikely of partners. The story of Caly and Hades swept me away on a tide of giggles, hilariously bad idioms, love and passion.
I wasn't sure what to expect, but wow am I glad picked this up.I loved every moment of it! I just cant seem to stop smiling like an idiot.
I had huge hopes for this, and I don't know if it was my mood or the book but I was overall disappointed. Maybe I expected, a darker and deeper story, Calypso is a tale that's not done often and this was just a very light fluff read. I will continue and see what the rest of the series holds. But I have to say the covers for these books are gorgeous.
I have reread and re reviewed this book on 16th May 2018
This book was even better if possible on a second reading, there were references to things in this book that I only understood after I'd reread it and it made it so much more worthwhile.
The main characters are Calypso and Hades. Calypso is an ancient virgin goddess who takes a particular fancy for Hades while he stands trial. She brings him to her underwater palace where she intends to force him to be her sex slave but instead she catches feelings for him and fights his battle to keep him free. Hades thought he loved Persephone until he meets Calypso then he truly finds out what love is.
There are some secondary characters but I think the majority of them are going to have books of their own.
The storyline is an original take on a fairy tale romance with a twist. The pacing is very good and I am already reading book two in the series which I didn't get round to reading the first time.
Calypso, virgin Goddess of the Sea, is inspired by the relationship that her daughter-in-law has with her son. Specifically, she is interested in enjoyable sex (she's birthed all her children without involving sex, because hey, she's a goddess). When she stumbles into a confrontation of the Greek Gods who are accusing Hades of killing Persephone, she sees an opportunity. She convinces them to allow her to incarcerate the hotty Hades under the sea while they investigate his guilt. She plans to make him her sex slave during his visit. I know, I know, ridiculous! They come to an agreement; neither is interested in love, but of course, that is what ends up happening. Aw.
Seriously, this book is so funny. The author weaves in enough plain humor that it makes you unconsciously accept the equally ridiculous/cheesy plot without question. The whole thing is comical, with a little smut mixed in. Normally, I would tear apart a plot like this, but the humor makes it such an enjoyable (gasp!) light read. I'm actually looking forward to the next one in the series. I hope it is just as funny.
The Sea Queen is a mythological retelling of the love story of Calypso and Hades and since I have zero knowledge of Greek mythology, I don’t exactly know their history so everything I liked or disliked is solely about the book.
Hades is accused of killing Persephone and is about to be executed when Calypso offers to keep him as a slave for two weeks because she wants to *do things* to him.
Now, usually I don’t enjoy these kind of plots because theu are way too corny for my liking but I was in the mood for some fun reading and hence the rating of 3 stars.
I liked their *hot* scenes together apart from the first one because she basically didn’t ask for consent and that is a big no no.
I also liked how they didn’t just sacrifice their own life to stay with each other at the end and both stayed in their oen realms. The epilogue was cherry on the cake!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This book was so fun to read to me. I know there are a lot of bad reviews about this book, but I went into it knowing what to expect so I enjoyed it. This was basically an erotica novel told in the perspective of the gods and goddess. We follow Calypso who is the goddess of the water and she is a virgin, but she wants to change that. When Hades is about to be punished for a crime, Calyspo decided to take him and make him her sex slave. So the book is basically full of them having sex. I knew this was basically the premise of the book, that way I expected it.
It was a fast-paced story which includes an insta-attraction between the two characters. I am actually glad for this matter since there are fewer fillers and all. What I liked about this book: >I love the personalities of all character, especially with Calypso. I adore Janita just as much as Calypso. >The narration is easy to follow. (Told in first person perspective.) >The smut read was ok but it was still fun. On the other hand: I think the story revolves too much around Calypso which the title made it clear. It was narrated as if she was too powerful (I guess she really is) but in turn, it makes the other characters far less under her.
Although there were some really interesting premises in this book...I never felt like the story line ever felt fully developed. Yes, there was a beginning and an end. However, all the stuff in the middle was just kinda jumbled with the sex scenes. I know there was a wonderful mystery in there somewhere...but without making some huge deductions on my own, it would have been lost. This is book one in the Dark Queens series...and I'm gonna give book 2 a chance. Let's hope it get's better.
If you like mythology, check out this book. It's funny and it's pretty fast read. I love all the sarcasm which had me cracking up and I couldn't help but love the main characters Hades and Calypso / Thalassa. Who would have thought Lucifer/Hades was capable of such things!!
This book was a quick read for me. In this book, you get to see Calypso and Hades get really close and fall in love with each other. There are some smut scenes in there since Calypso is more than ready to have sex for the first time and no longer be a virgin. When she sees him, she becomes possessive and wants him immediately. This book was also funny at times (Calypso being the main reason here).
So, obviously I have this deep, abiding love for modern twists on the Greek gods, and Jovee Winters did a fabulous job making Calypso and Hades very real, even while infusing both with the type of majesty only a god could possess. Calypso's confused phrases, her open, honest attitude, and the way all of that plays against the fact that she's one of the most powerful things in existence (and she knows it) just made me absolutely adore her.
And Hades... Hades was perfect. Of course.
They really were kind of an odd couple. Really, they were the ODDEST couple: literally opposites, life and death, and their relationship was a joy to read.
So I loved the story. Obviously. But I also thoroughly enjoyed the way Winters depicted the majesty and splendor of the gods in their true forms. Calypso's gowns, Hades' true form, the way Calypso could alter her appearance... it was a delight to read all of it, and Winters has an amazing imagination. I think that what I loved most was how she made these fantastic, powerful beings seem so very human. I cannot wait for the next Dark Queens book.
Another DNF. I had this on audio book and the narrator was actually great, but I just couldn't listen to Calypso talk about sex like she was a 16 year old girl. She's supposed to be immortal, so for her to be so ignorant was annoying. She was just being stupid about all of it. I got about halfway through and I had to turn it off, I was getting second hand embarassment for Calypso.....she was just so dumb.
"I wanted to flog his dolphin with my blowhole." Really?
I actually didn't realize that this was erotica when I bought it, I just thought the idea of Calypso the Sea Queen was awesome, and she was awesome when she wasn't talking about sex so annoyingly. The cover also drew me in, it's beautiful.
She was just awful, sorry. The rest of the story seemed really interesting, but she ruined it. Maybe this is a case of it's better to read the book then listen to it. *shrug*
I have loved mythology since I was a child so of course when I saw mention of Greek gods in the blurb, I knew I had to check it out.
The Sea Queen is about Calypso. If you know your mythology, you would know she's one of the Primordial Ones, older than the Greek gods themselves. She is a virgin goddess, like Athena who normally avoids the other gods at all times. However, Hades' souls have been popping up in her waters and she needs to know why. However, when she reaches to confront him, she finds him tied up and on trial for murder. She decides she wants him and nothing will stop her from getting him.
Firstly I should let you know there is a lot of sex in this book. They are either talking about it or doing it. Lol
The story was actually quite enjoyable though. Calypso and Hades actually made a really nice couple and they were both quite witty. My favorite character, though, would have to be her hippocampus, Linx.
The author described Calypso's world so well I found myself wanting to live there. It sounded like a paradise. Hades was actually sounding quite sexy for a god of death thanks to the author's description.
The Dark Queens series looks like a nice, fun read for anyone who enjoys romance with a touch of fantasy and mythology.
Violence: Mention of animal abuse Sexual Content: A lot!!! This is definitely a book for adults only! Profanity: Multiple uses of sexual euphemisms as well as obscene words Religious Themes: It's based on Greek mythology so a lot of gods and goddesses Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: None
I'm not entirely sure how to review this. I found Calypso to be off putting most of the time, and I found a few of the sex scenes to be super cringey with the dialogue that was used, but despite that, I didn't hate it? I don't know.
I found myself really enjoying Calypso's interactions with Aphrodite and Nimue more than I liked anything else. Although, I was really bothered that she couldn't keep track of what false name she was suing for Hades. It was a different name every time she spoke of him to Nimue, and I know it was supposed to be funny, but I found it comically annoying. I just feel like she should have been better able to keep track of her lies.
3.5. Really enjoyable read with a awkward, naive, not the most eloquent, and absurdly funny FMC. Honestly, despite the story lacking much action and adventure, it was very entertaining. I think the author did a great job making the Greek mythology all her own.
Our FMC, Calypso, elemental goddess of water, finds herself coming to the rescue of Hades, after millennia of wanting nothing to do with the Greek gods and goddesses. I have to admit that it felt like we were jumping into something mid series as there were alot of references to a story between Calypso's son Sircco and Nim her daughter-in-law. In fact the goddess's whole change in demeanor and zest for life has been brought on by her new found daughter-in-law. I did like how the author painted Calypso as a benevolent, domestic, nurturing goddess, just like the Tale Keeper said.
Calypso's not so great grasp of new slang, and customs makes the book really humorous and interesting. You never know what is going to come out of her mouth really. The reinvention of the age old Hades and Persephone story was interesting as well. All in all it was a short entertaining read and I look forward to the next in the series.
This story was a bit silly at times with Calypso's lack of understanding with human sayings and the like. But the absurdity amused me more than anything. I liked Calypso's caring for her daughter in law even as she thinks she's hiding her nature do be perceived as just a friend. I enjoyed the developing relationship she had with Aphrodite and Themis too. She's feisty and a lot of fun actually.
Calypso's relationship with Hades worked for me more than I thought it would. As a fan of the classic Greek myths I wasn't sure how I felt about Hades falling for someone other than Persephone, but I liked how it was handled in this story. Plus Zeus was such a perfect ass in this one I loved that. I enjoyed Calypso giving all the egotistical Greek gods their comeuppance. Hades appreciated the mutable nature that was just part and parcel with Calypso. I liked that he just took her as she was and whatever face she put forward he was happy with all of it.
I like the start to this spin off of the authors Kingdom series under her previous pseudonym. I'll have to add the next in the series to my TBR.
The lame title and bad reviews should've given me a hint Yikes... I try really hard to not read any book that I think will earn less than 3-star rating, and of the 120 books I read in 2017 this was only my 2nd book under 3-stars. The blurb and many positive reviews tricked me into hoping I might like this. I didn't mind the amount of sex but the writing felt juvenile. The way Calypso speaks is infuriating. I found myself getting into the fantasy of the story only to be ripped out every time calypso opened her mouth...phrases like “duechebag” and “bubble butt” made it sound like a lame 14-year-old trying to be cool and talk about sex. I get what the author was trying to do but I wish she hadn't...I would have probably enjoyed the book much more. I finished it just so I could write a review and warn others. I feel bad reviewing a book I haven't even finished. The overall plot was interesting but extremely thin. I read this book for free and it is pretty short, so I don't feel a huge waste, but I cannot recommend it and indeed wish I had listened to all the other bad reviews.
