Not What I Expected But This Preview Is Great

IF YOU ONLY KNEW is the story of two sisters confronting difficulties in love and marriage. Jenny Tate, a wedding dress designer, struggles with her life after the marriage to the doctor that everyone loves falls apart. He has moved on and found a wonderful new wife and has a new baby. They are still friends but Jenny wonders what life has for her when she meets Leo Killian, a piano teacher.

Jenny's sister Rachel is struggling with her own marriage. Rachel was finally happy with her life as a stay at home mom with three wonderful triplet daughters when she begins to suspect that her husband is cheating on her. She doesn't want to believe it because it would tear her world apart.

This is a preview book but definitely gives a reader a sense of the tone and issues in the book. This book is a departure from the typical Higgins book. This is more women's fiction than pure romance so readers who are uncertain about whether this book is something they want to read should try this sample.

I love it. I mean, it's Kristan Higgins; how could I not? It's some of her best writing to date, and that's saying something. I loved Jenny Tate and Andreas and Evander and Loki and...that's what you do with Kristan's people (and dogs). You take them into your heart and they stay there. Even Rachel and Adam and a few others I couldn't quite love found places where I will remember them and frown a little because...well, because.

In all honesty, this is my least favorite of all of her books, which still makes it excellent.

The one with the two sisters and one is the wedding dress designer and one is being cheated on. Sheesh. Sad sometimes. I always wondered why people stay friends with exes - for approval? To avoid pity? Still not sure.
