The capture of the Tattoo Murderer has demanded a heavy price. Doctor Tobias Darwin is dead, Lieutenant Hart is back in Riverside licking his substantial wounds, and he needs to gather his courage and tell Isaac he made a mistake. Isaac will forgive him—he knows that—but he can't promise Isaac an easy life. Being a cop comes with its own risks, after all.

When they finally reach the same wavelength, their idyllic reprieve is cut tragically short. Hart doesn't know yet that Isaac is terminally ill, that he will take off to find the Phoenix to heal him as a last resort. This time, it will be Hart who pays the price.

In the meantime, a new killer roams the streets of Riverside. He kidnaps, tortures, and kills gay men in horrific ways, and he has the newly healed Isaac in his sights. Hart’s time is running out on every level.

After living in Michigan, USA for seven wonderful years, Indra Vaughn returned back to her Belgian roots. There she will continue to consume herbal tea, do yoga wherever the mat fits, and devour books while single parenting a little boy and working as a nurse.

The stories of boys and their unrequited love will no doubt keep finding their way onto the page--and hopefully into readers hands--even if it takes a little more time.

And if she gleefully posts pictures of snow-free streets in winter, you'll have to forgive her. Those Michigan blizzards won't be forgotten in a hurry.

Fragmented hits us right where it hurts the most with some things we’ve been dreading and anticipating finally coming to light. The second book in the Shadow Mountain series is emotionally intense, almost suffocating, as our hearts break over and over again for Hart and Isaac both. And yet, through it all, we never lose hope and we never stop believing that things will miraculously turn out well in the end. It takes a lot of faith to go through such pain and uncertainty with our heads held high, but there is no choice for us, just as there is no choice for Hart.

Fragmented is much more focused on Isaac, but we never stop feeling Hart’s suffocating loneliness. His short time with Isaac brings him some reprieve, but as soon as Isaac becomes unreachable again, the feeling is back, stronger than ever. So much could be said about Vaughn’s ability to bring her character into the spotlight, but reveal them tom us slowly, gradually. She peels them like onions, showing us layer upon layer of genuine feelings.

Vaughn’s writing is once again a thing of beauty, elegant but unassuming. She knows precisely how to captivate her readers and she keeps the focus on her characters throughout. The mystery is once again excellent and the tension builds slowly until it becomes almost too much, with Isaac and Hart at the very center.

The Shadow Mountain series has so much more to give, with its strong, fully fleshed character and its unforgettable atmosphere. As far as I’m concerned, the next book can’t come soon enough. I’m breathlessly waiting for more.

“You light me up. You give me hope. You make me want to be the best person I can be.”

This book put me through the wringer... :)

This long awaited sequel to Fated, Indra Vaughn’s wonderful first book of the Shadow Mountain series, offers a captivating mix of mystery, crime, fantasy/paranormal and romance. I was so excited to get back inside of Hart’s head, to investigate some new murders with him and watch his relationship with cute Isaac unfold.

Hart! This stubborn, caring, brave, wonderful bastard! Yes, I do understand the reasons for the decisions he makes but at some point I would have loved to be able to climb into my kindle and shake him, or strangle him… or tell him to kiss Isaac and never let him go.

Isaac… sweet loving Isaac, loved him to bits. If you’ve read Fated you know that he isn’t okay. I was sad with him, I cried for him (and with Hart but don’t tell him that), I laughed with him and was happy with him. This guy stirred up my motherly instincts like no one else does, he just had to be all right again.

Thank you Indra for some wonderful supporting characters. kick-ass Freddie… she’s such a wonderful friend for Hart; Teddy Young, the cute lawyer; Captain Johnson, Hart’s boss; Mauro and Julian… we get a few more glimpses of the mysterious Phoenix and his healing power. Btw… I want MORE Julian, need to know his own story!!!

I won’t give away more details because Fragmented is a book you have to experience for yourself. But be certain, there are plenty of what-the-fuck moments, twists and turns, emotional moments and nail-biting tension waiting for you. We get suspense, heartbreak, damn hot sex…soooo many emotions, and wonderful, wonderful quotes. I guess I highlighted dozens of text passages. The following is one of my favorites:
Isaac would find the one photograph in the room, and Hart didn’t care. It was a candid, a “selfie,” as Isaac had called it, of the two of them in Riverside Municipal Park a few years ago: Isaac goofing off while Hart stared at Isaac, heart in his eyes.
Hart walked up to him and kissed the meat of his shoulder. “You taste like summer rain,” he hummed, softly dragging his mouth along the muscle as he slowly began to rub Isaac dry.
“You never showed me this picture,” Isaac whispered. He looked over his shoulder and his eyes shone like a sunlit sky. “And now I know why.”

I can’t wait to get the third book into my hands… if you’ve finished reading Fragmented you will know what I’m waiting for. :) It has to do with one beautiful creature:

Overall, Fragmented is touching, captivating, and powerful written, Indra can rock the socks off a blank piece of paper. The rhythm of the words, the flow of the story, her style is just brilliant. I fell as hard for the author as I fell for the characters. I can't recommend the whole series strongly enough.

I am loving this series, but this one just hurt my heart. You have to read Fated before you read this and this review will probably have some spoilers for that book.

Things are looking up for Isaac and Hart. They are together and happy and recovering from the events of the first book. Unfortunately, the good times don't last long. Isaac comes clean about his illness and it's not good. We know that there is a chance for Isaac to be healed by Julian when doctors can't help him, but nobody knows if it will succeed or what the cost will be. Unfortunately it turns out the cost is steep and Hart suffers most for it. While Hart and Isaac spend a lot of time apart in this book, Isaac really is never out of the picture. Hart always has him in the front of his mind and his love for Isaac is beautiful but devastating. Isaac is still a ray of sunshine. Any time he is on the page I couldn't help but smile and in this book it often was followed quickly by tears. In the midst of Isaac and Hart's personal struggles, Hart is investigating the bizarre murders of several gay men.

The chemistry between Hart and Isaac is amazing. Whether it's a scorching sex scene or an intimate conversation, it jumps off the page. Their struggles here prove just how they are destined to be together. We get to know more about Hart's past and meet Isaac's mother and brother. There are twists and surprises (including the reveal of Hart's first name), new paths for both Hart and Isaac and an ending that guarantees Isaac and Hart will have an interesting but difficult time with things to come in the future. I cannot wait for part three!

***I am so happy to see that Indra Vaughn is not only planning Isaac and Hart's third book, but plans to add to the this world by giving stories to both Teddy and Julian & Mauro.

I didn't think it was possible, but I think the second book in the Shadow Mountain series is even better than the first. There's something about Isaac and Hart, their romance, all they've gone through, that really strikes a chord with me. I'm not sure what it is. Indra Vaughn's writing is beautiful. Her characters are well defined. Her sex scenes are really hot, but it's not just the sex, it's the love that shines through the middle of them. These two books, Fated, and Fragmented, are perfectly executed. I hope there's a third book coming along, because I'm not ready to say good-bye to Isaac and Hart yet. Not by a long shot. If you plan on reading this, please read Fated first. You'll be missing so much if you don't.

After Fated, my expectations were high, but this one fell short for me. Isaac's character was still mostly abstract to me. Towards the end I got some kind of vibe from him finally, that little uh... lets call it a glitch, definitely helped me get a grasp on their connection with Hart. Too little, too late though. That doesn't mean I didn't feel for Hart when the shit hit the fan.

As for the murder investigation, it wasn't nearly as exciting as the first one.And I really missed Freddy, Hart's partner. They were such a good pair in book 1 during the investigation. She did pop in a little, but only as a friend to Hart, and I really like that they became friends after what went down, but I missed them working together.

There might be a third book and I probably will read it, cause I'm still curious.

Fragmented is the highly anticipated sequel to Indra Vaughn’s suspense filled thriller Fated, from the Shadow Mountain trilogy. People who enjoyed the first book will love Fragmented as it is generally considered better, which is hard to top as Fated was an excellent read but I have to agree wholeheartedly with the majority of people who have found this to be true. I’m usually disappointed with sequels but not with this one. It was excellent but it was also very different in many ways. There was still the basic workings of the first book running in the background but the overwhelming sadness of the prominent plot in this book was refreshing and also highly emotional. The major storyline that runs this novel is not nice, but that is what makes it so good. It’s so refreshing to read something with a novel approach to it. Because of the paranormal touch it makes it more grounded and credible, without coming off as ridiculous and removes it from the majority of formulae created works within the M/M genre.

This sequel will not disappoint as Indra Vaughn has outdone herself. The writing flows beautifully and the plot is tragic with a twist that reveals more behind the true nature of the mysterious Phoenix. He is humanoid in appearance and people are not supposed to remember him coming to them at their time of death, but it was insinuated in book one that they had to give consent to him to save their life before they died. I loved that but it seems that nothing is free and it comes with a price that no one remembers, even if they’re told of this, but you never find out. It’s different for everyone too and I get the feeling that he takes something different from everyone too, the mark of a healed person is also divulged and I loved that little spin on things.

This story about Hart and Isaac is painfully sad, just as Isaac finally approaches Hart to make amends and they rekindle their relationship, it’s blissful compliancy is shattered beyond repair as Isaac drops a bombshell that he is dying and it’s incurable. Once he has his final check up and it’s confirmed by his Dr. that his diagnosis is correct, Isaac disappears and Hart knows exactly where he has gone, in search of the Phoenix to be cured, but what is his price for it? A shitload of tissues for the reader!

Hart calls ahead to the partner he was assigned to while helping Brightly PD who accompanies him up Shadow Mountain to find Isaac. By the time they arrive the healing had been completed and was 100% successful. Isaac is now cured but it comes at a shocking cost and they both find themselves single again. Hart is so distressed that he throws himself into his work as another serial killer is on the loose. The killer is targeting young gay men, who mysteriously vanish for up to two weeks then turn up dead from dehydration and starvation, not to mention other atrocities inflicted upon them as they slowly die. With three dead men on their hands already, the Riverside PD goes into overdrive to catch this serial killer before the press catches wind of it but his last victim’s autopsy shows a vital clue.

Isaac inadvertently discovers this clue forcing the younger University student to help the police catch this guy and in the process he’s made to work with Hart before vanishing back to University.

This might seem like an extended synopsis, full of spoilers but it’s not. Sure I’ve spoken about large pieces of the story but I have not given anything of major importance away – please feel free to tell me if you think I have, only once you’ve read it though.

This is what really grabbed me about this book. I could write more but that would just leave you waiting for it to happen but this is one book that I can’t quote from. One quote after chapter two would ruin everything and before that it’s still very interesting but nothing quote worthy.

There are so many scenes in this book between Hart and Isaac that are just so very sad and they just keep on coming. If you’re not a fan of sad, tense frustration but you enjoyed the first book I still highly recommend that you push past that and make it a personal challenge. It’s worth every page and kleenex.

It is no secret that I am a raving fangirl for Isaac. I love Hart, too, but Isaac is dreamy like a summer nap under a shade tree and, if I had the manly ability to do it, I'd steal him from Hart in a second. So, obviously, the fact that Isaac plays a much larger role in this book than the first in the series (which I also loved, by the way!) filled me WITH JOY AND HAPPINESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

This series would make great summer (or anytime, really) reads for fans of mystery, thrillers, paranormal, romance, cops, and HOT TWINKS NAMED ISAAC. Please read these books so you can love Isaac with me. I'll wait here and you can tell me how dreamy you think he is, too, okay? *chin hands* :D

Fragmented was a powerful follow up to Fated. The POV is all Hart, just like the first book, so we see a lot more of how the events affect him than we do of Isaac. I cried and was heartbroken for a fair amount of the book, but that journey was so necessary, and I loved how it ended. Like Fated, romance isn't the up-front primary focus here, and in Fragmented, the plot lines made sure of it. There were two main plot lines -- Isaac's illness, and its resolution and the murder/suspense plot that Hart is working. But, the relationship is there and it's always in the forefront of Hart's mind and heart, so even though the events of the book get in the way (and that obstruction is very much part of the story), you'll still be rooting for them.

In some ways, Fragmented was difficult to read, for me. I really loved Isaac and Hart and from their interactions in Fated, I was fully invested in them as a couple. So, I was sad when I learned more about Isaac's illness, and absolutely heart sick when I saw the extent of the price that had to be paid for his cure. I'm tearing up, again, just thinking about it. But I loved where the story eventually took me and I cannot wait for the next book to be released. But worry not, there is no actual cliffhanger here, so if you read Fated and Fragmented now, you're not going to be left screaming at the end. And I could not put this book down. I needed to know that Isaac and Hart would be ok.

One thing I will warn you about, is that Isaac and Hart were not together for a large portion of the book. When Fragmented starts, things between them were finally starting to gel, but then ... *sigh*. Their separation wasn't a typical romance novel separation, though, and I can't really talk about what happened there without giving too much away, but it laid waste to my heart watching it unfold. Considering the circumstances, their time apart made perfect sense and it was completely necessary, but Hart was devastated. And I pretty much was, too.

We learn a whole lot about Hart in Fragmented. We do learn his first name (which I won't share), but we also learn so much about his motivations and just how deep his connection to Isaac goes. Hart would do anything for Isaac, including sacrificing his own happiness.

I cannot wait for book three to come out. I really need to know more about what is happening on The Phoenix front. We get a glimpse, at the end of Fragmented, into what to expect and I really want to know more about what that turn of events will mean for Isaac and Hart.

Beautiful close to Hart and Isaac's story. This time the mystery stuff took a backseat to the romance and that was just fine. It was painfully sweet in places, and may have devolved into cheesy, but the writing saved it. Although I do hate angst, plus I'm in too cynical a mood to give it 5 stars, so 4 it is. But Ms Vaughn is definitely on my radar now.

2.5 stars. An unfortunate case of a book that I could have liked more, and definitely would have liked more, if not for the inclusion of a trope that I really hate. This is the second book in a paranormal romantic suspense series. Ironically, the first book also had an element that I usually hate reading in books, but in that case, it was written in a way where I could get past it easily enough (love triangle). The element in this book definitely isn't anything bad, and I'm sure there are readers for whom it would be a positive. I just hate it, personally. It's a spoiler, so I won't mention it here.

We're following Detective Hart once again, who's just moved back to his house after dealing with the killer from the last book, and he and Isaac are ready to take things further with their relationship. But of course, there's yet another serial killer on the loose, targeting gay men. The mystery aspect was fine. It wasn't obvious or anything, and there were a couple clues that I caught onto after everything had been revealed, but just like the mystery in the first book, it didn't feel very well crafted. As in, the way it was laid out, the way characters were mapped. And there were a few things that made no sense. Spoilers ahead:

I did like the romance, at least in the first third. I remember enjoying it a lot in the first book, because Hart and Isaac have the kind of backstory that I always eat up. Hero worship/puppy love that matures and grows into something meaningful after the passage of years? Love it. So it's unfortunate that the book included that thing I really hate.

I got kinda heated thinking about it again, haha. I don't know if I'm just feeling cranky or what. Probably I could talk myself down to 2 stars, if I think about the things I don't like even more. Which is a shame! I truly did like the first book in the series, so I'm bummed that this didn't work for me. There might be another book, and we got some hints at where the paranormal aspect of the series might be going, a potential new role for Isaac. But I don't know that I care enough to read it.

*** 3,5 still undecided stars ***

So, I liked this one a bit better than the first #1 Fated. That is to say, I gave it 0.5 stars more.

This was a bit more interesting, but it's still... weird. Or something. I don't know. I'm happy I read these books, though. I think Fragmented is better than Fated, mostly because there weren't any other love interest than THE love interest. Having Hart (plot spoiler for #1 Fated)

There was one twist that I didn't see coming, but perhaps I should have, that made the story intriguing. But the last third of the book wasn't so good. The bad guy/mystery was way obvious and resolved too quickly. Resolved is a strong word, actually, it's more like the mystery just... stopped. And the story continued with Hart's personal stuff with Isaac.

All in all.

Where Fated: a Gay Romantic Thriller was a good book, Fragmented is stellar reading. Good murder mystery, good contemporary world building with supernatural elements, and a great love story. Overall, this is such a visceral reading experience.

I'll never forget Hart and Isaac. If you enjoy something different and well written in the genre, give these two books a read.

Well... damn... way to tear my heart up into pieces Indra Vaughn. I forgive you, only because you put it back together afterwards.

Fragmented destroyed me. So much so, that I considered reading the ending to sooth my soul because I couldn't handle the uncertainty and the anguish. I resisted, and grateful I did because you can trust the writer, just keep reading.

It's hard to review this and not give away too much... I'll just say this, there are a lot of hints in the first book, things that seemed irrelevant, minuscule, forgettable... well they weren't.

Things will come to pass. Hope will be shattered. The angst amped up. The anguish palpable.

Are there more than 5 stars? Because I want to give Indra Vaughn all the stars for Fragmented!

Sigh, I love Isaac and Hart so much. All the hearts. All the stars. All of my everything.

Beautiful, utterly beautiful book and ending
Exceptional love story

There was one line from a song that kept playing in my head while reading this masterpiece:

THE HEART WANTS WHAT IT WANTS BABY! This couldn't be more fitting for Issac and this book.

I've been waiting for this book for centuries it seems. Yes I know I'm not known for my patience, and I also know it's only really been a few months, but to me this wait felt never-ending. Was this book worth waiting for? Absolutely!!! This book has earned the 5 stars for brilliant, thoughtful writing.

Fated was more focused on the paranormal aspect than the relationship between Isaac and Hart, and after getting teased with a possible relationship between those two amazing characters, we were left with the feeling that fate has other plans in store for them. Fragmented picks up where Fated left off, and there's more development and progress in the tentative relationship between Hart and Isaac. We get some AWE-worthy moments, and some hot, steaming sexy ones, and I can't express how much I enjoyed Isaac and Hart together! Of course there were moments my inner perv was doing cartwheels, because the sex between Hart and Isaac definitely turns from sweet and emotional to filthy and hot at the drop of a dime; I love it when we get the chemistry and emotional connection between characters without bypassing the filthy sex to make it all complete.

Although Fragmented is more focused on Isaac and Hart's personal relationship, there's plenty of mystery to keep you entertained. There are murders, and mysteries that Hart works on, and I thoroughly enjoyed that part of his life as well. There's also plenty of heartbreak, because the price Isaac pays for his healing is a cruel one indeed. I was fuming there for a while, especially when a new character is introduced; a hot young lawyer who Hart meets while investigating a series of murders, and there's so much attraction there, that it made me fear a new love interest when things between Isaac and Hart were put on hold. There is no cheating, so rest assured Hart and Isaac don't do anything they're not supposed to. Ummm, well...let me rephrase that. They're not doing anything they're not supposed to with anybody else, because there's this steamy scene in a movie theater that even Isaac admits Hart should be arresting himself for. It's hot people, really hot!

This was an amazing book, and I can see where this story is going. There are enough hints to figure out what/who Isaac has become, and I'm left once again squirming to read the next part. So now I officially start my next few centuries of waiting for book #3.

Fragmented not only soars, it crackles with action, inspires a healthy dose of gut wrenching fear and, speaks of the most selfless act of love given on behalf of another. All this and a hint of a potential third in this series and you have a wonderfully written story that tugs at your heart strings and leaves you with such hope for a brighter future for all.

After declaring his love for Isaac, Hart returns to work, still nursing the scars from his last encounter with a serial killer. His accomplice now in jail, Hart should be able to put the encounter with a paranormal creature on the mountain and al the ensuing bloodshed to rest. Isaac is safe. Hart is alive and their future looks bright. They are in love, surely now they can get on with the happy ever after part?

Unfortunately fate is a cruel mistress and murder waits for no one. Once more cases pile up and the threat of another serial killer, this time targeting gay men, rears its head. Hart is drawn into the case reluctantly and thanks his lucky stars that Isaac has forgiven all and is by his side once more. But there is something a bit off about Isaac, he is constantly fatigued and his headaches are increasing in severity. When he finally reveals his earth-shattering secret to Hart, there is little time for either of them to do anything to stop the relentless downward spiral they are trapped within. With only one solution at hand, Isaac sets off to do the unthinkable and the time he may gain will not come near to the incredible loss he will incur.

Now Hart must decide. Leave Isaac be—walk away and guarantee he is healthy and safe? Or try to reawaken that which is lost, reclaim that which has been stolen and hopefully find that happy ever after again.

Indra Vaughn does the miraculous—she creates a sequel to the original novel, Fated, that is better, faster paced, angstier and, at times, heart breaking. I love Hart and Isaac so much—they are so well mated and their chemistry bursts off the page and draws you in immediately. These two characters are never weak but they are amazingly vulnerable and that alone makes them fascinating. This novel grips you by the throat and hurtles you into a maelstrom from which there is no easy escape. With your heart beating like an angry drum, you watch a love that was so hard fought, dissolve and there is nothing either man can do about it. Helpless—this was the catchword for this novel and right about the time you begin to despair, this author reaches in and pulls you and her men back from the brink.

Excellent follow up to Fated, and a perfect second act before what is sure to be an amazing conclusion to this trilogy.

This was just as good as Fated—maybe better. I didn't know going into this that the series is a trilogy—that's what you get for randomly stumbling on books and reading them without reading blurbs or reviews or anything else. But this book makes it obvious that this is a tightly plotted series. The events of the first book are very important, and the third book will clearly keep the story going—and I'm so excited; she's hinted at such fun things. What that means for anyone reading this is that this book is not a standalone. You have to read the first book first.

So many tears during this book. Sooooo many. It was a tough ride in some places, but absolutely worth it in the end. You just gotta hang on tight and trust it'll work out.

This is another book for which I'm glad I didn't read the blurb before I read the book. I think too much is revealed—it's so much more satisfying to have things come to light during the course of the story itself.

One of the wonderful things about Indra Vaughn's writing (there are many) is the way she follows up on the hints and clues she drops along the way. No pointless red herrings here.

Assuming book three isn't atrocious, I think this will end up being one of my favorite trilogies of all time.

Gimme book three!!

"an agonizing mix of love lost and found."

Oh my God! This is such, "an agonizing mix of love lost and found," type of love story doused in an intriguing mystery!!! This is the type of story I crave when I go on the search for an MM romance.

I'll have to admit to figuring out who the serial killer was and I was disappointed who it ended up being but I actually want the killer's backstory now. You get a taste of it and it left me completely intrigued.

I ended up hating Roth! I hold a grudge and even with the back pedaled apology, my opinion was set.

I was a bit confused about the cabin near the end, and the butterfly but I'm thinking there will be a book 3. And if there is, then I get it what all that meant.

What a perfect mix of crime, mystery, romance, and a connection to two beautifully created characters that had believing in true love.

I really hope, wish, pray, it's MacLeod Andrews or Chris Patton who narrates this beautifully told tale of love shrouded in mystery.
Honestly, either narrator can give an outstanding performance that can bring these characters to life and actually place you into this world that the author has created for you. And this story deserves the best narrator.

Where Fated was an enjoyable read, Fragmented convinces me I want to read more of Indra Vaughn’s books. I love a book that integrates romance, paranormal, and suspense genres into one well-written story. I wasn’t exactly crazy about Isaac in the first book, but fall in love with his character in the second one, as his life with Hart has never been easy. Just when things begin to work out, nature does something terrible to create havoc and heart ache.

Interesting premise, holds my attention, and suspenseful to the end. Will Hart and Isaac overcome the terrible situation facing them? The book will provide the answer and will put a smile on our faces, the die-hard romantics.

So I fell in love with Isaac in Fated, the First Shadow Mountain book and eagerly waited for the next book to arrive. And Ms. Vaughn did not disappoint. I think I liked this one better than the first. The mystery was well thought out and became a perfect backdrop to the love affair of Hart and Isaac.
Oh these two will steal your heart. By the end i loved both MCs. The writing is excellent and the sexy scenes are HOT. Pay careful attention to the movie theatre-you may forever wonder what is really going on in the back!!
Well done, Ms. Vaughn. Now about that ending....

Oh Boy

I really enjoyed the mystery, characters and romance in these first two books. That being said, I don’t enjoy cliffhangers. It would not have put me off reading them, but I may have waited until the third book was out.

This had more romance than the first book, but it just about broke my heart. Poor Hart. There is a HFN ending, but I'm anxious about Isaac's future.

A superb read!! I absolutely loved book #1, Fated, and this one was even better. I can think of nothing negative to comment on. It was virtually perfect. The MCs were strong, yet vulnerable and sweet. The storyline was very interesting and though predictable at times, it also twisted in unexpected directions. The writing was stellar--it fit my taste perfectly. Not once did I lament that the dialog came across as more of an m/f than an m/m read. The secondary characters were also strong, and the editing and proofreading--often a disappointment to me--was right on par with the rest of the book.

My only complaint is that there is of yet, no book three. Although it's been almost 3 years since this book was published, the ending leaves room for hope. Until then, I will make a concerted effort to read whatever else Indra Vaughn has published, and thankfully, there are quite a number!!

This wasn't perfect, but I really enjoyed it and couldn't put it down. I felt like Hart's life had gelled more in this book, and his relationship with Isaac was complicated (and not at the same time). I actually liked and felt like it was well done. In fact, when Hart says (paraphrased) at the end that , I completely agreed and felt like Vaughn had done a great job illustrating that.

The mystery was interesting too, though I wanted a little more there (NOT graphic details but more about why and how all of it came together). All in all, I enjoyed this thoroughly and will definitely be looking for another Vaughn book in the future.
