Anyone who has been studying the Word of God for so many years will glean from the wisdom from above that in this book. William Henry Griffith Thomas was a spiritual giant in his day and a great witness to the church and faithful teacher and preacher. I'd encourage anyone to know the authors life before even reading a book on that person. Griffith determined after his conversion to study from 1030pm-230am each night to serious study. If we had that hunger and thirst for God like Griffith we would be changed more into the image and likensss of Christ. I see the fruit of Griffith's labors and am blessed by it in this book. The introduction is by Warren Wierbe and you if you love Warren Wierbe like I do you will also love W.H. Griffith Thomas' book on the Pentateuch. There are lots practical insights and helpful outlines in this book. It's a good overview and worth going through once a year. He has also written other books on the Holy Spirit, Christian Living, outlines studies in Matthew and Luke as well as the life and writings of Apostle John and Peter that I would also recommend.

Okay, this is not the sort of book that you can read with your mind elsewhere. It's definitely a book for serious study that requires a lot of the person reading it. With that said, Griffith Thomas can pack more profound insight into a single sentence than almost anyone else I can think of. His biblical scholarship comes from a position that is biblically faithful and pastoral as well as scholarly.

Bottom line: If you're looking for an easy devotional-style read, this isn't it. If you're up to more of a commentary-style and ready for something that's going to require you to roll up your sleeves and take your time, but will yield amazing fruit, then this is definitely something you should check out.

This was the assigned text for my Pentateuch class. I was looking forward to reading it however I was really disappointed. The book isn't really a book as much as it is a whole bunch of bullet points. The book doesn't really go into depth about anything and doesn't real clear up any issues or anything. If I didn't have to read it, I wouldn't have finished it.
