REVIEW COPY PROVIDED BY AUTHOR

Christina Kirby is a new author on my book shelf. “Running Home” is the second installment of her Warm Springs trilogy, but my first exposure to this tiny Southern town and its characters. The book stands alone as a solid read without needing to know the story in the first book.

It’s a delightful story that combines baseball and romance and even though pitchers usually have low batting averages, the reader will want professional pitcher Adam Hamilton to hit a home run. Everything about this guy is hot. He broke Jenny Fillmore’s heart but, as you turn the pages, you realize your heart will break if Jenny doesn’t give Adam a second chance.

Ms. Kirby writes some interesting twists into the plot, which threaten to take the game into extra innings. In the end, the home run goes to her.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, so I was excited to read Running Home, and I wasn't disappointed! I really enjoy Kirby's writing, and her stories are entertaining. I listened to the audio version of this book, and although the narration is a bit robotic, I still enjoyed the experience. In Running Home, there's a second chance romance aspect that I loved! Jenny and Adam were each others first love, they dated for quite awhile, but Adam got an offer to play pro baseball, and the two had obstacles get in the way. Adam gets injured, and returns back to his hometown. Jenny is a realtor, and Adam is looking for a house. Adam still cares deeply for Jenny, and despite Jenny thinking her life is where she wants it, she still cares for Adam. I loved that Adam knew what he wanted, and he wasn't going to let Jenny hide from how they feel for each other. I liked him, he's a good guy. Jenny is feisty, and I understand why she's hesitant with Adam. I do think they whole James thing goes on way too long, and the fact that Jenny doesn't realize it sooner was a bit of disappointed about it. Overall though, I liked her. She's strong, but vulnerable too. There's some heavy make out scenes, and mention of sex, but there's not too much detail. I'm good with either way, and I liked the way Kirby wrote the scenes. There's also dual POV's, which I really liked. I also loved seeing how the characters from the first book are doing. Fun, sweet, and interesting! Good read!

Running Home which is Book #2 in the Warm Springs Trilogy focuses on the story of Jenny. She was the real estate agent and friend of Samantha's who was kidnapped near the end of Book #1. This book picks up several months later , after surviving the ordeal of kidnapping, Jenny is finally moving on with her life and has a great job as the local real estate agent, she is up for the award of Top agent and she has an amazing boyfriend - one who is safe and reliable. That is until she is offered a job at work to show a wealthy new client around a few houses , that wealthy client turns out to be Adam Hamilton - a professional baseball player and her first love , he is the guy who broke her heart when he just up and left to play for the big leagues. After suffering an injury, he has decided to retire from playing and what better place to come back and settle down than their hometown. He also has his eyes set on a second chance with Jenny but of course she is taken. Can he persuade Jenny to dump her boyfriend and give him a second chance ? Can he get Jenny to forgive him for his past mistakes and win her back ? In Running Home , time is of the essence for Adam as if he doesn't hurry up and make his move - she may very well be engaged and married to her current boyfriend ?

Who will Jenny pick ? Will she choose her new boyfriend -Mr Stable and Reliable or will she choose Adam - the guy who has always had her heart and her first and only true love ?

Find out in Book #2 of the Warm Springs Trilogy "Running Home".

This is my first time reading Christina Kirby, but I am now a fan. I received an ARC of RUNNING HOME in exchange for a fair and honest review. To be honest, I've never liked sports mixed with romance, but I really enjoyed this book. I didn't feel like I had to be a baseball wizard in order to understand what was going on. I loved the story of Jenny and Adam. Their shared history and then getting back together as adults was magical. I like how they fell back into their routine, but also learned new things about each other. They had matured, so the relationship had to mature from what it had been before. I cringed over Jenny's boyfriend James. Ugh! Was so glad she dumped him. I'm from a small town and have met men who act just like him. The book itself is well written. It was easy to spend a few hours in Warm Springs with these characters.
