Sasha Silver and friends are back in this first e-novella from bestselling author Jessica Burkhart.
Forget "fun in the sun!" Canterwood girls are all about hard work--and the competition is about to get . . . HEATED.
HEATED occurs between Canterwood Crest print books #5 (BEST ENEMIES) and #6 (LITTLE WHITE LIES). It's an e-novella (a *short* version of part of a larger story/book) and there will be three more installments that follow HEATED that tell the story of Sasha, Heather, and Jasmine at YENT camp in Florida.
**Remember, readers, this is a SHORTER version of a normal Canterwood Crest novel and covers one-fourth of the story. The rest will come soon!*
Jessica Burkhart is the author of the best-selling Canterwood Crest series which has sold over 1.6 million copies in multiple languages. She has also written the Unicorn Magic series, the YA novel Wild Hearts, and edited a YA anthology--Life Inside My Mind.
Evocative of the early days of Canterwood. I missed Sasha and Charm and the days when Canterwood was really about horses. Eager for more! But don't get me wrong. I still have complaints. I always have complaints. And Jasmine annoys me just as much as she did the first time around and her petty insults and routines are just plain boring. I also think Sasha is an idiot for even listening to her and her utterly bad sniping. But then again, I've always thought Sasha was a bit of a soft turd and an idiot, but I still love her. My other complaints include the direct attempt to differentiate between Hunters and Jumpers within the book by a person who seems not to actually understand the difference, or simply got caught up writing the book and got some of her facts wrong. Jumpers IS NOT ABOUT GOING FAST. I REPEAT. JUMPERS IS NOT ABOUT GOING FAST. THIS HAS BEEN A PSA. Jumpers is about being smart and effective. It's about regulation of pace, stride, and strict discipline. It's picking the best, most direct lines and seeing how many strides you can shave off without knocking a pole. You can gallop all you want in the jumper ring, but it won't do you any good if you can't pick a good line, hon. Also, Hunters, I would like to point out, has absolutely nothing to do with the rider's finesse. Hunters is judged solely on the horse. This is not to say that the rider has nothing to do with the horse's performance, as a rider greatly influences every bit of a horse's round, but the kid going on about how he likes paying attention to his position and equitation is just shooting into the dark. Like, literally, Hunter judges don't give a crap if you ride like crap, as long as the horse is doing well and jumping in good style. If you can't tell, I'm exaggerating to make my point, but anyways... Hunters is about the horse, not you. That's the bottom line. And all Hunters is looking for is a nice, obedient horse with great manners, lovely movement, and a round, safe, even jump. Again it's about strides and distances and how the rider can affect the horse's performance by picking good lines and distances. Jessica Burkhart never even mentions lines throughout almost the entire series I think, and that calls for a serious facepalm. But no worries, love you JB.
I though this book was pretty good. It leaves you hungry for the next one. I was very disappointed that it was only 39 pages, considering how long we've been waiting for it. All in all, it was a good read, just too short. However, I do understand it was supposed to be short.
Loved this book! I would love to see the series continued on with either Lauren or Sasha! And I literally can't wait for Sanctuary! I love off-track thoroughbreds so it's going like book of the year for me.
