As the Underground is under siege by the Vaun siblings, Autumn and Luke Oaken juggle newfound problems that come with royal elves turning eighteen. The age-old question, “Who will be the next heir?” forces a divide between the twins. On top of the most important decision of their lives, they must join the rest of the Warriors as they fight to keep Arbor Falls safe.

But after a deadly attack within their walls, the twins and the rest of the Quinns are sent on a quest to recruit fighters from the other inhabitants of the Underground. Along the way they encounter suspicious merpeople, nerdy vampires, secretive warlocks, and mutinous centaurs. But the magical creatures have been segregated for a reason, though it is not what Autumn originally thought, and the true reason has the potential to destroy countless lives.

In the midst of the chaos, Autumn and Avery struggle to keep their relationship secret, while Luke’s growing feelings for someone he’s always viewed as a friend further complicates the situation. The countless secrets Autumn swears to keep begin to pile up and weigh her down. With this many secrets, one of them is bound to slip…and when it does, Autumn's world as she knows it will come crashing down.

Book Two is even better than Book One.

I found the storyline and character development in ASH to be a far more satisfying read than OAKEN.

Not that OAKEN was bad! Read my first review and you'll see.

Luke is not nearly as frustrating and shallow in ASH. You see some soul and maturity.

Autumn has also earned herself a backbone by the end. People pleasing was a real problem for her.

Tiny glimpses into Avery's head are welcome too.

All in all it had the feel of a grand quest and the ensemble cast was interesting and engaging.

Can't wait for ALDER! :)

Excellent Continuation of The Underground Series

This book is a well thought out, well plotted continuation of The Underground Series. It is a quick read for an adult and an exceptional adventure for adolescents. I encourage young adults to read the series!!! Lots of interesting twists and turns in the plot.

Wow. I can't believe the author blew me away as much as the first book! I instantly was exhilarated when I found the book on the shelf, but also apprehensive. What if the second book didn't meet my expectations? I was wrong. Instantly from the first page I was catapulted into this magical world and not just from the elves perspective, but by other creatures. There were sure some crazy twists and turns in the series that I feel like I have absolutely no idea what's going to happen next, but I liked it that way. I cannot wait for the next book and am bittersweet about coming to the end, but I know the author absolutely won't disappoint!

WOW!! EVERYBODY READ THIS!!!
...Seriously, everyone that likes Fantasy and Elves will love this series. The first one Oaken was already great, but this one was just awesome!!!
I loved every second of it.
What I loved so much were the characters. They are not defined by their status of 'Elf'. They felt like real people with real hopes and problems. I especially began to like Luke, whom I kind of disregarded in the first one.
PICK IT UP!!
