Scott Tate has a problem. When his twin brother Sawyer calls and asks to crash at Scott’s place for a few days, Scott has no idea that the feelings he has for his brother would surface so quickly. But a forbidden desire this strong cannot be controlled.
Now, after spending most of his life pushing Sawyer away for fear of showing his true feelings, Scott is faced with the toughest decision of his life—either admit to his twin that he’s in love with him… or ask Sawyer to leave for good.
When the world tells you that the love you feel is wrong… can two men find the courage to make it right?
Read the blurb closely before reading this. It's not for everyone and it will definitely be outside of a lot of comfort zones.
With that being said, I found it to be a pretty good story. Have I read better twincest stories? Sure I have, but it was still fairly entertaining. There was a bit of unnecessary drama at the end, but other than that, it wasn't bad.
2.5 stars This was an alright short, although I think a short story like this either needs to have a strong emotional punch or a strong erotic punch. Unfortunately this fell short on both counts.
Scott was torn up about keeping his love for his brother a secret since he was a teenager, but after only 2 days of Sawyer staying with Scott, Scott reveals his secret with not much fan-fare and not much distress. It should have been wrenched out of him, it should have been painful. But it was fairly easy.
So you wanna do a light story, fine, but then it should have been steaming. I think the voyeuristic jerk-off scene was actually hotter than the sex scene. My problem with the sex scene was that there was almost no dialogue. Again, I wanna hear heartbreaking "I've wanted this for so long" and "always wanted you" and "it's been so hard" and "I jerk off thinking about you". So I wouldn't say it was tell and not show, since we got the sex scene, but I wanted more connection instead of just a play-by-play.
Lastly, I'm not sure what the point of that hail-Mary drama was at the end, but I felt it was underdeveloped. I think both this story and this author have a lot of potential, but she needs to delve a little deeper into people's emotional turmoil and connections. Especially with twin-cest, there are a lot of social taboos there so either someone's torn up and conflicted about it, or they don't care and it's a hedonistic fuck fest. Either way, I'm happy. :)
Received from the publisher in exchange for an honest review, reviewed for Hearts On Fire
Short, sweet, and a little naughty. Sometimes I just need something different to cleanse my reading palate. This short taboo story was just the right length with the right amount of naughty to do just that. Taboo or twincest is not normally a go-to read for me, but I don’t steer clear either. I like to think I am open-minded enough to see the world through the eyes of all sides and hopefully come away with a healthy respect for what is quite possibly the norm for many folks.
Scott and Sawyer are identical twins who live on opposite coasts because Scott realized at a young age that he had an unhealthy crush on his brother. Moving away was the only option for him…until Sawyer decides to move. Watching these two tip toe around each other, knowing they both felt the attraction, and being the third voyeur in this triad was quite sexy. The story is very short, so it is really not a sexfest, more of a build up to how these two came to be a couple that ended with a nice steamy scene.
So, yeah, my palate is refreshed. I am not traumatized and doubt you will be either. So, if you want something different, maybe next time you might consider something a little taboo, too. I would recommend Liberty Lace as she has a way of making taboo seem natural.
Scott has a secret. He's in love with his step brother, Brad. When Brad comes to visit Scott will the truth reveal itself? And does Brad feel the same?
This is a quick little story of two step brothers and their realization of what could be between them. I enjoyed it.
I received an Advanced Readers Copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
Scott Tate has loved his twin brother Sawyer in what he considers “the wrong way” for most of his life. He moved to the other side of the country to escape the attraction, leaving the unaware Sawyer to live his happily ever after with his new wife. But now Sawyer has turned up at Scott’s apartment, mid divorce, needing somewhere to crash for a while. How can Scott possibly turn his twin away, even if Sawyer is totally lacking in personal boundaries?
This is my second Liberty Lace story, and even though I didn’t love it like crazy, the way I did the first book, I still definitely enjoyed this little romance. Once again the author sticks to the sweeter side of taboo tales while managing to include some raunchiness. Which is the perfect combination as far as I’m concerned. While I like them sweet, you can’t deny that the whole point of this type of story is the “naughtiness” of the sex, right?
I think The Hush-Hush Crush (which is a great title btw) was just a little too short for the story it was telling. I felt I needed to know more about why Sawyer married his wife in the first place, why both Scott and Sawyer finally decided to do something about their feelings and what was going to happen in their lives next. How is everybody going to react, because they’re not exactly keeping it a secret and I’m pretty sure incest is illegal, isn’t it? But hey, I’m the first to admit that I tend to over analyze things.
If you’re looking for a sweet yet sexy story to pass an hour or so, then this is definitely a worthwhile read.
When we first meet Scott it’s easy to see that he has been trying to do the right thing for so long. He moved to NY from California to create distance with his twin brother. He is now a doctor and he looks after many of the residents in his apartment building. He is kind of freaking out that Sawyer is coming to stay with him as it gets harder to keep his feelings under control when they are together. We get to know Scott a bit more than Sawyer and his yearning for his brother is clear, but Sawyer was kept more at a distance.
There is only time for a brief history into when their attraction started. The story moves quickly and there is a voyeuristic scene that amps up the heat. For a short story, there were quite a number of side characters within Scott’s apartment building. There was a lot of drama surrounding these characters and I would have preferred the time to have been spent on the men establishing their relationship.
The story was well written and Lace manages to make the taboo seem familiar and realistic. But there was an emotional punch that was missing for me overall as Scott has wanted his brother his entire life, but the scene of them coming together was lacking in intensity for me.
I like my fireman stories hot – just like the flames they battle as part of the job. This story had a little bit of heat and a few sparks, but definitely not that all-consuming blaze I was hoping for especially with the taboo nature of the relationship between Scott and Sawyer.
In general, the angst level was underdone considering that Scott spent his entire life up until now pushing his twin brother Sawyer away for fear of revealing his true feelings. The secondary characters were sweet and helped paint a picture of Scott’s personality. The ending was a bit predictable and not altogether necessary.
All in, I liked this book. It had just enough to keep my interest, but not quite enough to deliver on the meatier subject matter of twincest. I like that this author is willing to dive into forbidden territory and I won’t be hesitant to continue following!
Twin brothers Scott and Sawyer were close when they were younger. But as Scott grew up and realized his feelings for his brother were far deeper than the acceptable norm of a bond between twins, he started to distance himself. When Sawyer comes to visit and camps out on Scott’s couch, the two are forced to deal with secrets they’ve kept buried for years.
This is a short, steamy read that is sure to cause a spike in your blood pressure. The content is “taboo” so if you have an issue with twincest, you might want to skip this naughty little read. I quite liked it. There was a bit of drama, secrets being revealed, uncertainty with how those secrets will be perceived and even a quick pulse pounding moment of danger.
If you are a fan of Mercy Celeste or Max Voss then you’ll definitely want to read this one. A delicious little snack I’ll keep on my kindle to re-visit every now and again.
I think this was potentially good, but could really have done with 'a couple' more words. It read more like 'Rush, Rush, Crush' to me. There could have been so much delicious tension, but it felt like the twins started jerking off as soon as twin 2 arrived, and equally as quick the whole 'conflict' was solved. I also would have liked to read more about all those neighbours, after they've been introduced already.
Oh well, I guess it's mostly my fault for not looking at the page number though, since that would have given me a hint. Props to the author for writing about topics usually deemed immoral though.
Teaser I swear that Lace is the queen at taking something deemed as taboo and making you yearn for it deep in your gut, all the way down in your loins.
With their revelation, Liberty Lace takes the finale of The Hush-Hush Crush on a journey that has your heart racing and your head spinning. You realize that, in the words of Sawyer, “people expect us to live life by a set of rules that sometimes just don’t work.”
I think this is my least favorite 'cesty story to date. Felt like the characters were teenagers not grown adult men & the writing seemed immature and unpolished as well. Also, OMFG that ending. *eyeroll* Was it really necessary to set the building on fire to prove one of the twins was a fireman?
