A Fantasy Romance of the Black Court

A false princess, the court trickster, and a magic spell, woven together with a frog prince twist.

Cassie MacElvy believes she’s a fae princess, but her life of pretty gowns and constant parties is an illusion. Trapped in a twisted spell, Cassie uses her psychic Gift to help the Black Queen hunt down the rebel Prince Kian and his human wife, never knowing she’s hunting her own sister. But when a handsome black-eyed fae kisses her, the fairy tale begins to crumble, and she tumbles down into a confused rabbit hole of memories and magic.

Bosco is the court’s fool and a womanizer, but secretly he’s a spy, looking for a missing human psychic. All he has to do is find her and hand her over to his mysterious employer, and he’ll finally have enough power to complete a quest he started nearly a hundred years ago. When he runs into a beautiful fae princess who shouldn’t exist, he knows something is very wrong in the Queen’s court. But lovely Cassie might be the only person who can help him achieve his quest, and Bosco decides he will root out all of Cassie’s secrets, even if it means losing her trust.

I was so happy when I saw that Jessica was writing Cassie's story , she is the last of the MacElvy sisters. This is Cassie and Bosco's story. Bosco is sent on a mission to find the human woman that is the BLACK QUEEN'S mirror. Who is being held and used to find out what the Prince is up to and to see where and when he is going to attack. As he enters the castle he meets Cassie a beautiful yet fragile princess, who is also Fae. He is intrigued but also a little leery about this beautiful creature . He decides to use her to gain access to the party . That is where things get more complicated and a lot more interesting . They both realize that they need each other and will help each other out even if it means loosing each other in the process.

Jessica weaves such a fantasy that will take you away and sweep you up into the story. Her characters as complex and you can't help but fall in love with them. Cassie is the physic of the MacElvy clan. She is a very strong woman that is also fragile side to her. She is sweet and vulnerable but she also has this side that is hidden. The kick ass, take no prisoner side which comes out when she is with Bosco. You can't help but not fall in love with her as you read this book . At first you want to wrap her up and keep her safe but as the story progresses you will be cheering for her as she kicks some ass .

Now Bosco you can't help but fall in love with him . He is the Queen's fool but there is so much more to him. He is a tortured soul that wants to get enough power to save his sister . He is a womanizer and you kind of want to slap him at the beginning . He is such a cad . But when he meets Cassie, you can slowly see him change. He is torn between duty to his sister and the love that he is feeling for Cassie. You see him change into a man with honor and who is in love . The supporting cast is back also Haddon is as evil as ever and the Black Queen is well lets just say she is off her rocker in this book.

Jessica takes us on a great adventure with twists and turns. Underhill is full of fae good and bad . There are trolls and other magical creatures. There are heroes and heroines, mystery and adventure. There is also some nice hot romance right in the middle of all the adventure . I mean there is always time for romance . The way that Jessica writes you expect a unicorn to walk through the pages . You will laugh and cry and laugh some more. You will shake your kindle and call Bosco a few bad names . You will want to hang Haddon from the rafters by his toe nails . But over all you will enjoy this and the other books in the series . There are a mixture of fantasy and romance that will have you being whisked off to Underhill and falling in love, A great addition to your summer reading list

I loved fairy tales growing up and the wonderful thing with Jessica Aspen's series Tales of the Black Court is that I can still read them without feeling guilty. As well as twisting the traditional tales Jessica Aspen manages to throw in some steamy scenes that flow seamlessly into the story and I'm never going to be able to read the old stories without thinking of this series that should be called Grimm's fairy tales for grownups, so grab your comfy chair and sit down because once you start you won't be able to put it down until you've finished. The characters are real and you feel with them, Cassie's sass and spunk that even magic couldn't hide and Bosco's emotions that he thought he'd lost are magically bought to life, only problem is now I can't wait for the next instalment.

Fast, Fun, Adventurous Read

This book was the easiest to read through in sitting. Seeing layers of a court jester and the true depth of a man, made it an easy book to get sucked into.

Who Doesn't Love The. Bad . Boy?

This pairing I never saw coming. The story was a fast ride with believable characters that were thoroughly enjoyable. The ups, downs, and artfully woven twisted fairy tales is loads of fun. This author writes really, really well!

The princess and the "frog"

I am becoming a huge fan of Jessica Aspen. Her twists on the traditional Fairy Tales are so entertaining to read. This one is no different. It was so filled with suspense and intrigue I couldn't put it down.

Broken? Maybe...

Cassie is broken, but for how long? Bosco is being paid to find out as much about her as he can to keep her alive and to find the Queen's mirror. But, this payment will be made in power. He is also being paid in gold, by the Black Queen's right hand man, to keep her quiet and believing that she is a princess, until the time is right for him. There is a lot going on in this book. And it is crazy good. Five stars from me. You will love it.

This is book 3 to the Fae Magic series and I loved this story. Cassie is captured by the Black Queen who put a spell on Cassie and now she believes that she is a princess. Bosco has been sent to help Cassie escape from the Black Queen but he has his own secrets and his own reasons to help her but it takes one kiss for everything to change. This is a wonderful fairytale romance and below the blurb there is a small taste of what happens when they first kiss, fantastic story and I highly recommend this book it’s well worth the read.

An adventurous fantasy romance where the truth is hidden. Third book in an amazing fairytale series. Cassie doesn’t remember her past, but does she really want to. But when handsome and slightly nude stranger appears a kiss will make her start wondering what is real. This story is filled with adventure and magic. Add in the hot male who could take any female’s breath away and you never want the story to end.

I received a free advanced reading copy from the author in return for an honest review. I was not compensated monetarily for my review.

Spellbinding and wonderfully imaginative fanasy romance!

I really enjoyed this book, and I think that it is better than the Dark Huntsman (Book 1 in the series). This book can be termed a fantasy book because the fantasy elements are very strong and integral to the book, but it is also a paranormal/fantasy romance because there is a romance between the 2 main characters with steamy scenes. There are faeries/elves, witches, lots of magic, illusions, and a lot of the book takes place in Underhill. The two main characters were likeable and complex enough to keep me very interested. I loved the spying aspect of this book: Bosco is undercover in the Faerie Black Court spying on the evil queen. The author is very good at writing both action sequences and steamy scenes. Bosco has some complicated and conflicting motivations that added nice depth to the book. I also like how this series has different books showing some of the same events from different perspectives.

I think it would be totally fine if this was the first book in the series that you read. I would give this book 4.5 stars if I could because of a few brief awkward parts, but I will round it up to 5 stars.

So many good books so little time.

I didn't read the previous books so a couple of the characters were unfamiliar to me but it didn't take away from the story.
Bosco is employed by someone to get a human psychic who can see images of the future. She is being held captive by the Black Queen. Bosco is doing this in order to gain power to be able to save his sister from the Winter Queen.
Cassie believes that she is a princess and heir to the throne because of a spell put on her by the Black Queen and her advisor.
What happens when the truth about who they really are comes out? There is betrayal, faithfulness, love, hate and a myriad of other things happening in the Fae court.
I would love to go back and read the previous books but I am torn because I want to know what happened to Bosco's sister, which is the next book.
I recommend anyone who loves fae and fairy tales to read this book but I would definitely start at the beginning.

Loved it

Bosco and Cassie’s tales are intense! I would have never knew Bosco had such depth, and what the black queen and Haddon do to Cassie is intense but needed to fit her perfect for Bosco in the long run.
