A debut issue in the classic Marvel manner, I've read this type of story before, ordinary teenager finding a mystical motorcycle (Donald Blake finding Mjolnir) in his desperation to find help for his seriously wounded sister (Peter and Uncle Ben).
The art for this series was so good from the start. The art team, especially Texeira's inking, gave it that distinctive look that would the signature for this iteration of this character.
There was an original Ghost Rider, two of them, but this version is my favorite.
I love this version of Ghost Rider! The spikes, chains, and black leather make him look awesomely punk rock! The pencils are great but the inks, while gritty, can be a little too sketchy. The story and dialogue are good, but it could be dialed up for better effect.
As one who still remembers that Ghost Rider was a western hero [excellent stories btw] and reading the original motorcycle Ghost Rider I was frustrated reading of this new Rider who has all the character of a wilting Weeping Willow tree. It's a nope from me.
Art was awesome throughout, especially the first showing of the New Ghost Rider, EPIC!!!
Overall solid dialogue, Danny is a bit of a pussy but I know he'll grow. I'm excited to see how involved Kingpin is in this story. I'm excited to dive deeper in the Ghost Rider world.
