Do you struggle to get your point across to people? Do you ever feel like you are somehow weak and ineffectual in the way you communicate? Perhaps others just don't take you seriously. There is no easy fix for all of your problems. However, whatever those problems are, if social interaction is involved then a firm grip on the tenets of non-verbal communication can make it better. Your Mom wasn't just blowing hot air when she told you to “Stand up straight”, because “you slouch too much.” Mom there is wisdom in those words, for the way we carried ourselves says a great deal about our character, our self-respect, and who we are. No one knows more about body language than CIA agents, and it just so happens that we've got access to one who is willing to spill all the secrets about how to read non-verbal cues and body language. While he will remain nameless of course, you will get an unfettered look at the mind of someone who not only listens to what people say, but watches intensely what they do to detect for signs of graft, deceit, and danger. In this book entitled Banned Body Language Secrets by author Daniel Smith we will look at how relationships, work, and personal safety can all be vastly improved by diving into the body language “rabbit hole”. You won't imagine how deep it really goes, and utilizing these age old tricks will have you at the center of attention, or flying low under the radar depending on how you choose to use them. So “keep your chin up” and your backbone straight as we delve into the often unnoticed world of how humans really communicate.
Interesting - nothing life shattering, but reminded me of a lot of little things (OK, maybe somethings that I didn't now of) I would class this as a "beginner" book for people studying body language. For someone looking for very detailed information you may want to look for books on NLP. So far, I have only found 2 levels of books on body language: beginner, and advanced. This is more of a beginner book than advanced.
Very flimsy read. Not worth the time. Maybe ok for an amateur.....or as the author would probably put it.....the ones not having both IQ and EQ to a sufficient degree.....
The body language component was a little basic, but covered good information. It seemed that the last 25% of the book (his CIA friend's most dangerous mission) was just filler material that distracted from the overall theme of the book.
worst book i've read. i should have listened to the people who've reviewed it on amazon. i think a robot may have written this based on 1960's knowledge of what people want to hear. it's mostly filler (outdated stereotypes) and there are only about 10 useful tips about actual body language, all of which are common knowledge, so it's completely useless. at least it's short and 2nd grade reading level enough that you can finish it quickly.
It was okay. I've read better books on body language, but it was a very quick read. A nice pallet cleanser. It was an Amazon Prime Lending Library book - so the price was right. Also, the title is rather mis-leading. The book was written by the CIA Agent's friend, to whom he taught these techniques. It is also never clear whether or not the guy is still in the CIA.
i think about this book a lot and just keep wondering if it's all made up like it just doesn't sound like the friend's story is rooted in truth. and most of the "tells" are not a secret? like not bad at all, just idk if i trust the author
Really generic information. Most of this is common knowledge. Additionally, the book could use an editor to help tidy up the way the book reads and clear some clerical errors.
Not sure about the CIA tie-in, but, apart from the typos and sloppy editing, this little book did contain some interesting information. It would really profit from some illustrations though.
There wasn't much information in this book, just lots of words around the actual points being made. And those points were all things I've read in every other book on this subject, but fewer here. Disappointed
