I got this little baby graphic novel (prequel) in my Mad Max Blu-ray Edition. There are two stories it. I thought they were pretty good. Gave me some background info to the movie and I enjoyed the Illustrations.
The first story is the past history of Mad Max how he became a hero to the people and over and over he fell on hard times. It was interesting.
The second story is of the making of Imoten Joe, how he became a legend and how he got the Citadel. This story was a lot more interesting to read.
I absolutely love Mad Max: Fury Road and so to see these little prequels was such a fun addition to the movie. Highly recommend.
This begins with a nice recap of Max's story so far, and offers an explanation of why the Interceptor is seen at the beginning of the movie. However, the coming back of Thunderdome just for the sake of... Lack of originality, I think? And a wound so harsh and so easily managed and recovered, were the absolute letdown of this first entry.
This is the prequel comic where we get the MOST amount of lore in the timeline of FURY ROAD, which is finding out Max fought in the Thunderdome in Gastown. Great art, wonderful recap of the life Max has led prior to appearing in FURY ROAD and a genuine story I'm excited to see resolved in PART TWO.
HIGHEST recommendation for anyone who loves FURY ROAD and even for those who felt like Max didn't get enough screentime in FURY ROAD. This is Max's story and they really use this format to their advantage.

Thunderdome Plus throws readers straight into the dust and chaos of the Wasteland. Max Rockatansky’s struggle for survival and redemption is raw, relentless, and unforgettable. With high-octane battles, gritty storytelling, and the legendary quest for the Boss 351, this book is a must-read for fans of action, dystopia, and Mad Max’s world.
The illustrations were amazing! I was a little lost on the plot at first (this is my first dive into the series) but I quickly caught on. A lot of action, a lot of good fighting scenes & gorish violence. 👌🏽 Looking forward to reading into this one more.
Good art, nice recap and references to previous Max movies. More like a Beyond Thunderdome 2.0, but that’s fine. Has that grim and gritty Max type ambiance about it. 💀
I don't know anything about the other mad max comics so for me coming into this with this volume it was really rather frustrating that so much of it was spent on back story. Basically recapping the story from Mel Gibsons movies to they newest one. Since so much of it was spent explain the basics of who and what max is I had a hard time being attached here. You have what less than 50 pages to get your reader involved in this comic and buying the next volume. There was nothing to hook my interest till the last five pages or so, and I almost just slipped the comic back in the sleeve and just put it away. Not really the best way to hook someone. So now I'm interested in the comic but not enough to go out of my way to buy the second one. I'm only faintly curious on where this story will go. I enjoyed the artwork at least.
While this is an interesting story, I have to admit I didn't like the, "he lived because of far too many coincidences." *SPOILER* he's offered a spot later in the services at Thunderdome, however he could not have won if there wasn't interference, interference, and then more interference. And then *BIGGER SPOILER* he would not have survived his attack if not for the woman who was one of those interference before. I do not mind a character who is not the most powerful, but give me some reason to have faith that he'll survive this story and not just a suspension of disbelief or having to rely on it being fiction as to why he'll survive. And if he doesn't, then he should have just died here.
The best of this series yet. The Nux/Immortan comic was just a bit brief, each guy probably deserved their own comic. The Furiosa one was just, well, disappointing. Any good will that the movie had for empowering the female characters dissipated with a comic pretty much entirely about the wives being raped while Furiosa sat back and watched.
This one, though? It answered a LOT of the questions that everyone had about the timeline. Was Hardy's Max the original Max? Did the first three movies matter? The answer is "yes," which is tremendous. Looking forward to the second installment.
I liked it, best of the Mad Max comics. Kind of a recap of old Mad Max movies with a new adventure thrown in with all the necessary ingredients - story, great action sequences and tragedy. The characterization is more like Mel Gibson's Max, just not sure what to make of it as i understand Tom Hardy's Max is all together a different one. Ties up the old movies with the new one.
This series is allergic to continuity but this volume gives a little more clarity. We see a recap of things Mel Gibson's Max did, but with Tom Hardy's Max in its place. We see a slice of what happened between Mad Max and Fury Road. And we get a look into Max's head.
Son 3 precuelas: un recuento rápido de oda la saga de Mad Max y las historias de origen de Nux y de Immortan Joe. La mejor es la de Immortan, pero me hubieran gustado más páginas y alguna mención a Furiosa.
There was too much lead in, which bogged it down. Then the action was meh and rather contrived. Then he should have died again, but didn't, which finally sets up wherever this is going.
