Cassandra’s human life as a midwife ended almost four centuries ago after being accused of witchcraft. Rescued and turned by the enthralling Master Vampire, Killian, they quickly discover they are blooded Mates. In the throes her erotic awakening with Killian, Cassandra also discovers an undeniable bond with their human Protector, the brooding and ardent Alastair, with whom Killian has a deep and turbulent history. Drawn together in a passionate trio, they live an exciting life full of wealth, decadence and dark passion. Together they navigate the often-violent realm of vampire politics, as well as a never-ending threat from an enemy that has hunted vampire kind for centuries. When tragedy strikes and Killian disappears, a desperate search is launched, but he is never found. Until now. When Killian resurfaces as a vigilante and is marked for elimination, Cassandra is thrown into a race against time to save him. She seeks the help of Forrest, a human ally, as well as her estranged Mate, a vampire whose immense power may be their only hope of reaching Killian. Only unified, can the shattered pieces of their hearts finally be one again. But can the past ever be truly brought back to life? Filled with erotic passion, mystery, found family and blood drenched battles, Bound to a Vampire is dark romance that delves into the personal histories of vampires and the dramatic events that have shaped them in the flawed, complicated creatures they have become. Creatures who not only mate for life, but love for an eternity.
Please note, Bound to a Vampire contains mature and sexually explicit content that is not suitable for all readers. What follows is a list of content warnings. MM and MMF sexual scenes; BDSM elements including Master/sub dynamics, bondage, dub con, impact play and exhibitionism; battle scenes with blood and gore; one graphic rape scene; blood feeding from both humans and animals, as well as blood sharing between vampires.
Graduating with a degree in journalism, I move to New York and worked in publishing for several years. After that, I return to my native Los Angeles and worked in the film industry. Eventually, I started writing screenplays full-time, mostly in the Fantasy Romance genre After the birth of my children, I took some time off to be a mom. But the ideas never stopped coming to me and I continued to work on outlines. On my daughter's first day of preschool, I set up shop in the coffee shop next door and started writing a book. I've never looked back. Half way through my first book, Bound to a Vampire, I knew this would be a long series, Each new character I created was more intriguing than the next and I fell in love with all of them. I also fell in love with Dark Fantasy Romance and erotic MMF character dynamics. I had found my voice. The first book, Bound to a Vampire was self published in early 2015 and the second book in the series,, King in Chains, was published in September 2017. I am hard at work at book three, The Shapeshifters Heart and book four, still awaiting for the perfect title.
Life has never been simple for Cassandra. As a human, she had healing power in her hands and was hunted as a witch. As a vampire, she's hunted for being a rare Master and mated to the most powerful of them. Her Sire had disappeared without a trace, and now after centuries, he's suddenly back. Cassandra must try to heal the wounds of her past before she can deal with the dangers of the present.
My little synopsis there does this well-written book no justice. It is now one of my favorite vampire tales ever! Be forewarned, it's not a short read. It's thick and deep, with many layers, set on capturing your heart. Through Cassandra's present narrative and reliving her past memories, we are taken from her brief life as a human in the mid-1600's to her long life as a vampire. The reader gets a thorough look at all aspects of life as a vampire in this world, and oh, what a life it is! I was fully immersed in the lives of Cassandra and her mates, Killian and Alastair. Not only are they her mates, but they are one another's as well, allowing them to form a powerful Triune. No matter her mates' huge powers, it is Cassandra's strength of heart which keeps it all together. Such amazing characterization. Plus the large cast of characters is also magnificent. Tristian and Eloise being two of my favorites, and my fingers are crossed they'll get their own story some day. The settings and details are delectable, and the tension on all levels is pulled taut at just the right times. Then there are the several incredibly sizzling scenes. There are no closed doors in this story. The doors are wide open whether they be in the bedroom, outside, or in the dungeon. I had to fan myself with my e-reader at times!
I could go on and on about this book, but you need to experience it yourself. I already have the second book on my e-reader ready to go. I can't wait!
Cassandra hunts her vampire maker and Nature Mate, Killian, hoping to find him before her allies who are now her enemies kill him first.

On the path to find and save Killian, Cassandra dives into the past with Forrest to find the answers herself to answer Forrest’s questions of how they got here.
Grey Francis brings history and love to life in the first of the “Into the Dark Woods” series Bound To A Vampire (2015). Francis starts when Annwyn is a small child just discovering her healing abilities to when she is turned by Killian as a young woman and becomes Cassandra. We explore, as Annwyn and Cassandra, the love between Alastair and Killian and BDSM. Then the inclusion of Cassandra into this couple where love blooms and BDSM is initiated and explored on different levels between the three of them. Francis takes us through the changing roles of the relationships and the changing and deepening levels of love. The book is longer than usual for a paranormal romance, but I think to fully explain the dynamics of a polyamorous relationship and how one gets from where Annwyn starts from in the 1600s to the present, you need to go through the process of change in history and in relationships and that takes time. I was not bored in the slightest as I was reading as Francis keeps you hooked either with the drama or the sex. I had originally been intrigued with Grey Francis through the social media postings on Instagram and once I really started paying attention I realized that these books fit right into the LGBTQ+ community as they promote pansexuality. I should have highlighted the line, but sadly I did not, but Killian tells Cassandra when she questions him about homosexuality that vampires do not think of sex or love that way – it is just about the person. Next book please!
This book was so much more than I thought it would be. And that was a very good thing! The cover makes you think it’s just going to be steamy scene after steamy scene and while there is lot of that, there is an actually plot with a story that pulls you in right away. I fell in love with these characters. They jumped off the pages and learning their history, seeing their struggles but also the love they had for each other was beyond enjoyable. Grey Francis is a new to me author but I am very impressed with her writing and the world she created. Yes there were many cliché vampire plot lines but I loved every minute of it. And let me tell you this book is long but when it ended I wished for more. 4 Stars!
This book would have been a DNF, if I did not choose it for the group summer challenge.
Saying that, the book does have a pretty good plot and interesting, well-developed characters. Only all of it is buried in tons of historical “atmosphere”. There are endless descriptions of gowns, buildings, banquets and parties, parades of minor characters - each with a name and a little story. None of it adds anything useful to the plot. The ratio of dialogue to descriptions is vanishingly small, and when we are treated to the characters speaking, things like this come out: “But we can start anew. We can fill our lives with endless amounts of love for however long we may have on this Earth. And you can know that your heart is finally in a safe place.” He smiles down at me, his eyes filled with warmth. “I have no doubt that it is, lovely Cassandra.” Honestly, I can’t read this without cringing, especially in any quantity. This dialogue happens on day two of the MCs meeting, by the way.
Quite a few missing prepositions, wrong or extra words, and other editing errors feel especially jarring in flowery sentences. The slow cadences of the narrative in first person present tense made me want to scream, stomp my feet, and throw things. Even worse, the sex scenes, of which there are many, are written in the same sleep-inducing rhythm. And, unlike the descriptions of the gowns, they are lacklustre and flat. No foreplay, no beauty, many of them read like a shopping list: he did that, I did this, and, voila, an explosive orgasm. Instant erections, giant cocks, inhuman recovery speeds and constant bloodsucking spoiled even ménage, bondage and impact play that could have been interesting otherwise. The possibilities that the healing effects of vampire blood and a supposedly masochistic sex addict MC created were sadly wasted. What BDSM there is, it is perfunctory and unloved by the author, who seems to have little understanding of the dynamics involved, and merely uses lots of buzz-words and stereotypes.
There were places in this book that made me laugh. Unfortunately, not where the author intended, I am afraid. For example: A few days after her turning into a vampire, an uneducated 17th century peasant girl is tied to a bed by her Sire and Master, an aristocrat. What do you think she would be worried about when she sees him bringing out a flogger? Her first thought would be, of course, “We have not discussed pain yet.”
The modern day part of the plot reads a little better than the historical, thanks to the absence of “period” words and expressions. As I said, if you are not put off by the writing style, the story can be quite entertaining. But as a whole package, it just does not work for me.
Unless you love a mix of historical romance, vampires, and slightly kinky, exaggerated-out-of-all-proportion sex, you might be better off spending your short human life on reading something else.
A book of sensuous grace where old world meets the new in a spell binding journey. Born in 1640 when witches were feared, Annwyn, the main character of the story, was full of fear, even as she helped those she could. Her special gift of healing labeled her a sorceress and they came for her violently and without mercy. She is tossed from her human existence when the terror of the night becomes her hero, rescuing her from the brutality that makes up human, changing not only her physical make-up but changing her name from Annwyn to Cassandra.
Bound to a Vampire invokes strong emotions from the reader as they are pulled along a path of vivid descriptions. Appearing both as backdrop in color and smells and scents, where even the smallest detail such a flower is brought to life; to the full sexual experience of the first time being the a man not totally man who processes an inner knowledge of what the two of you can be together. The reader feels what Cassie feels, understands her emotions and her wants while she not only *discover* the world of vampirism, but *thrives* in it, building a life for herself when she goes off on her own.
Grey Francis has developed a story full of strong characters with even stronger, domineering personalities. Her simple use of language makes the world no longer simple but a vibrant picture which entertains as well as it mystifies. Though not a fan of first person novels, I was able to enjoy the full range of feelings brought about by witnessing the tale through Cassandra’s eyes.
I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did. Actually, I fell absolutely in love with it! The connection between the three characters is something I have always wanted in a book. It is filled to the brim with sexual encounters and you fall deeply for each an every one of them. Not only is it great erotica, beautifully written, but the story itself is a work of art.
Very good writing. Author does have talent and can set up a story. However; I feel like I’ve read this story before. Many aspects and details have been written in other vampire genre books. It’s not a new concept so it feels a bit like fan fiction with different names and a different plot.
First I will say, I love vampire stories. I'm always intrigued by how each author will create their vampires. Yes, there are similarities between them all, but some take it a step further.
For me, this book fell short on a lot of things. It was the same oversexed vampire who was bored with their lives because they were old. I get that, I do. You've been around 500+ years, it's not like you haven't seen it all, experienced it all, tasted it all, etc.
I was confused with this book because some of the vamps had animal spirits in them. Making them Masters. Cassandra happened to be a Natural Mate to the vamp who bit her, Killian - convenient. And then also a mate to his pet, Al. She was obviously also a Master. I really needed a chart for who was what and what was who and how things really worked out. Why would vamps have spirit animals? I’ve never read anything like this before.
On top of that, the book was very wordy in places and then when there should have been more description it fell short. No need to tell me every shade of dress she had in her closet and she didn't wear half of them because it doesn’t affect the plot. There were also missing words and grammar mistakes that took away from the story.
At one point Cass and Kill are in the tub - “On his knees, he is hard in my hand and I take his thick length ravenously into my mouth.” So is she laying in the tub? Is she going to drown? Or is he that much taller than her that she can just lean down, pop it in and go? Logistics need to be described.
The book also jumps from present to past without letting you know. So you are reading along and boom you are in the past, reliving her life with Killian and Al. Then we are in the present for the next chapter with Cass and Forest. There needs to be an obvious time separation - a chapter break, a different font, something...
Honestly, I couldn’t finish the book because it was too much. If you cut it down by at least 25%, I’d be willing to look at it again.
Everything about this book was fantastic. I adored the characters, the settings were vivid, and the story grabbed me from the very beginning. While reading I was happy, sad, and a wide range of emotions while reading about the main character’s journey from her mortal life where she had to live cautiously to her incredible ride as an alluring, powerful vampire.
This book has romance, eroticism, BDSM, and of course hot male and female vampires. Alastair is easily the sexiest vampire I have ever read about; Cassandra is powerful and divine, and Killian is just dominant perfection. I highly recommend this book to any and everyone who enjoys their vampire stories with a little sexy kink to them as well as a romance that manages to survive the centuries. This book is honestly one of the best books that I have read in 2018 and I look forward to reading Grey’s future works.
An amazing and Captivating Read Bound to a Vampire and Ms. Grey Francis are new favorites of mine. Definitely in my top 5! I was pleasantly surprised reading this work. Twists and turns where you least expect them and plenty of steamy scenes. I got so attached to the characters I felt emotional along with them. I laughed, cried, and felt fear right along with them. The descriptions of the characters is well written, just enough detail to paint the picture for you without being over the top. Cassandra, Killian, and Alistair will steal your heart, and you wont mind. I couldnt wait to finish the story and find out the conclusion of that tale. At the same time, I never wanted it to end and put the book down for a few hours to make it last longer. Can hardly wait to delve into King in Chains and lose myself into the dark woods all over again.
Unpopular opinion. I don't know if I read a different book than the other people, but it was just so slow and... I don't want to say boring, but boring! I mean, it was a bloody threesome and I still found myself skimming most of the book! Oh well, on to the next.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I read about 300 books a year for more than a decade. This just shot to the top spot on my list. I loved everything about it. And I have read them all. In essence I struggle to find a good paranormal series these days I haven't read. Well done.
Loved this book. It was dripping with intensity on every page. The twist and turns added to the suprises around every corner. Follow this author deeper into the dark woods.

Grey Francis is that good!!!!! “Bound to a Vampire” is the extraordinary journey of Cassandra Montclaire that takes place in modern times, however switches from present day to centuries back in time as she tells us her amazing story of how she became one of the most powerful female Vampires of present day. The characters in “Bound to a Vampire” are so well written it actually, literally, makes you feel you are living the part of Cassandra, as she experiences the fascinating, tragic, amazingly loving and highly sensual and erotic Vampire love story. I received this paperback for a honest review. This Author is new to me but with this one book has become a favorite.
I'd like to break the characters down for you first.
Cassie is a very old vampire Queen who has seen and experience more than anyone could possibly dare to dream. In her human world she was a midwife but comdemned as a witch before Killian found her. As a vampire she is a healer and a mondern day MD who is in search of Killian.
Killian is her Sire and her mate. He loves her as he has no other. He teaches her the way and excepts obedience in return.
Alastair is by far my favorite. He is the human protector for Killian and has been his love for quite sometime. He loves his discipline and seeks Killian's love and affection quite frequently.
As Cassie tells her story of the three of them, it doesn't take long for you to understand the love and the bond that has formed between the three of them. They are a Triune. A great power that can only be explained by reading this wonderful book.
When Forrest, he is Cassie's human alliance, is told of this story, it makes him understand her so much clearer.
When Killian leaves the trio, Cassie and Alastair are heartbroken and suffer without him. Two centuries have passed and now Killian has resurfaced only to be hunted. She and Alastair have remained in touch but they are not has close has they once were.
With a very sensual mix of BDSM, this read is simply scrumptious.
BOUND TO A VAMPIRE by author Grey Francis is a February 2015 release.

Find out what happens when Killian returns. Where was he? Why did he leave?
BOUND TO A VAMPIRE is a multi-layered richly textured vampire tale. Author Grey Francis was a new to me author but I’m impressed by her story-telling. Bound To A Vampire is a sensual mix of BDSM with whips and handcuffs. It’s a fast paced and a thrill to read.
Recommended for all readers of vampire romance and who also prefer their reading hot and spicy!
I loved this telling of a Vampire story. It reminded me of the old fashioned Vampires and their love stories both the good and bad. Killian, Cassandra and Alastair . Wow! What they had been through, where they were headed. Looking forward to the next book in this series. If you like a good Vampire story filled with love and fighting for life’s meaning. This book is for you. I don’t think you will be disappointed. I definitely recommend.
Reread waiting for Lassiter’s release. Story is still very good. Nice plot, lovely characters but far too much typos and approx french terms. Dear American writers, if you are not fluent do not trust Google translate !
This new author blew me away! An ad for her book came up on my facebook page and it looked interesting enough that I bought it. Had I known it would be so amazing I would have read it right away instead of letting it languish in my library for over a month. This author paints a vivid picture with her words. I was immersed in the world of vampires she created and couldn't put this book down. Her characters so detailed and rich I forgot that I don't actually know them, and the way she writes her settings is amazing. I have already bought the next book and can't wait to crack it open.
