Outgrown BEAST QUEST? Enter the world of the Dragon Knights!
Twelve years ago, on the Islands of Alariss, General Vayn gained power in a military coup after the emperor and empress had "a tragic accident". The Dragon Knights, an elite force loyal to the emperor, with the ability to transform into dragons, were defeated by Vayn's dark magic during a fierce battle. Vayn used his powers to bind the Dragon Knights in their human forms and banished them to the outer islands. Now the realm is in ruins and Vayn's Black Guard rampage through it, taking whatever they want. When Vayn's nephew, Quinn, discovers that he's the Crown Prince, the true heir, rescued and brought up by his former palace nursemaid, he swears to stand up to his uncle and claim what is rightfully his. Ignus the Flame Dragon has been trapped in human form as a blacksmith in the Floating Mountains. With the help of Thea, a feisty girl with magic skills and an uncertain past, Quinn must break the spell and return Ignus to his true Dragon Knight destiny.
The first in an exciting new dragon-fantasy series for 9-12 year olds.
Another great book! Right at the start there was already an action and every chapter feels such a cliffhanger! It was so hard to put it down and every chapter has something exciting situation. It also felt like I was really in the story because of how I felt every emotion the protagonist is feeling and I can vividly picture the scenes. The book also reminds me of "The Maze Runner," and I dunno why. It was still just such a great read though and I'm dying to have the book 2 and 3, yet sadly it ain't sold here in the Philippines :< Just found this treasure in a thrift book store that once belonged to a library, and I'M JUST SO GLAD TO HAVE I!!!
Whenever a book in its blurb compares or contrasts itself to another series and claims to be better than or something similar it tends to breed suspicion immediately. Anyway despite the Beast Quest contrasts this is a fair tale of adventure and really with dragons there is always an extra level of entertainment, it is the first of a series, so it will be interesting to see how that goes.
Obviously this is for a teenage audience, probably early teens, but I enjoyed it. What's not to love, beautiful dragons, evil baddies and a quest by lovable under equiped heroes to set things to rights. It's all there..
From the minute I picked up the book and started reading it, I was hooked. I believe this would be an awesome addition to any year 4 classroom. Lots of adventure, dragons, magic, bad guys and heroes.... Loved it.
