THERE IS ONLY SECRET WARS...

description

This popped up in my Marvel Unlimited account the other day, and I thought it might be cool to check out the prequel to Secret Wars # 1, which also happens to be the Free Comic Book Day offering.
shrugs
Eh. Not bad.
It's a super short story, revolving around Valeria Richards explaining what's happening to the FF kids.

description

It shows the spaceship that they're building, like some sort of Arc, to transport the Best and Brightest off this rock, and (I'm assuming) out of the way of the collision between multiverses?

description

The second part is something that anime fans might enjoy, but that (sadly) meant next to nothing to me.
A group called Titans are running around attacking downtown and the Avengers.

description

That's it. I didn't get it, but I'm assuming it would be really cool to see this sort of mash-up, if I had any idea who/what they were.

description

Whatever. It was a freebie, so all things considered, it wasn't bad at all.

Valeria breaks down the events leading up to the Secret Wars with the Future Foundation.
description

This is one quick summation of everything that has led up to the point of the final incursion between the Marvel Universe and The Ultimate Universe. It's great for someone who wants to read Secret Wars, but hasn't been following the many lead up series.

What do you do when the ship starts sinking? Head to a life raft! And that’s what Valeria Richards, Reed and Sue’s pre-teen mega-genius daughter, builds, along with the rest of the Future Foundation. Why? The Marvel Universe - including the Ultimates Universe - is coming to an end in Secret Wars!

Secret Wars isn’t so much a standalone event comic as it is the final chapter in Jonathan Hickman’s years-long saga that began in the pages of his Fantastic Four run. He’s built up to it in his Marvel NOW! Avengers and New Avengers titles and, finally, this is the end (my only friend the… HULK SMASH PUNY DOORS MUSIC!).

This Free Comic Book Day issue, Secret Wars #0, is basically Valeria recapping some of what’s happened in Avengers and New Avengers, namely the Illuminati trying to save worlds and then resorting to blowing up worlds and… well, now doom. Thanks, eggheads!

I’ve only read the first two volumes of both Hickman’s Avengers titles but even I could tell Valeria’s monologue only scrapes the surface of this very complicated story. Hickman’s Avengers books have been nothing if not DENSE so even though she tries, bless her, Valeria really didn’t stand a chance of covering all the plot points in 9 pages!

The other story in this issue is Attack on Avengers, the crossover between the Avengers and Hajime Isayama’s bestselling manga series, Attack on Titan. I say “story” but it’s really just a few scenes of the Avengers punching the Titans - and that’s it! Can’t say I’m a fan of Attack on Titan, I read that first book and thought it was complete garbage, but it’s a fun crossover and ends the comic on a light note.

I wouldn’t say Secret Wars #0 is a great primer for the event but then no single issue was ever going to cover the kind of ground Hickman’s been cultivating for the last few years! As a free comic though, it’s fine for what it is.

If you missed this issue on Free Comic Book Day a month ago, it’s available for free download over at Comixology here: https://www.comixology.com/FCBD-2015-...

I literally went out and picked up Secret Wars #1 right after I read this Free Comic Book Day #0 comic -- the kick off to some mysterious, epic event where multiple Marvel universes collide.

This comic book has two stories. One has a younger generation of the Avengers and the other is Titans coming to attack the Avengers.

The first story has the daughter of Mister Fantastic telling the other members of her group that the world will be ending. Valeria, the daughter, tells them that they are building a ship to transport the new starters of the human race. The two world's will collide killing everyone.

The other story has the Avengers fighting against Titans. They manage to figure out a way to kill the Titans and kill most of them. SHIELD then reports that the largest Titan has come. The Guardians of the Galaxy come to help the Avengers.

Enjoyed seeing the Avengers again. Scary that the world is ending. Hope it will stopped. The Titans looked creepy. Glad they were able to stop most of them.

Love the art. The Attack on Titan crossover is fun, if only to see how the Marvel-verse takes on the titans. Overall, it's decent but doesn't have much story.

Letto nell'edizione italiana pubblicata da Panini Comics nello spillato "secret empire - Panini free comic book day 2017". Si tratta dello spin off tra Avengers e Attack on titan. Un esperimento da 8 pagine.

FCBD: Secret Wars #0 includes 2 stories, Secret Wars #0 where we find Valeria Richards, her brother Franklin prepare to leave the Earth ...
Also included is Avengers: Attack on Avengers where the Avengers fight off the Titans (from the manga Attack on Titans), both stories are interesting, but what stands out for me is the art and coloring, vibrant looking while the action in the Avengers story is fast paced.

"So. The world's going to end, and we're going to run? THAT'S the brilliant plan? And also, I can count-- there's only seating in that thing for maybe sixty. The earth's gonna die... and our big move is to save a few dozen people?"
...
"It's not like that, Alex... you don't understand. They TRIED."

I went on a download spree with all the FBCD comics on Kindle awhile back and Secret Wars #0 was among the first issues I got.

For a brief issue, it was a good sampler of Secret Wars but my only complaint with this issue was how it switched over into the crossover event. A bit of a swerve, felt a little disjointed but otherwise a good little issue.

There were two stories in this short story. One was detailing the younger Avengers, even though I am familiar with the Fantastic Four, I didn't know about the younger members who were the kids of Mister Fantastic, so that was fun to read, from what I read it didn't give too much away of their abilities other than higher intelligence but I'm guessing they had similar abilities to Mister Fantastic or Sue Storm.

The second story had alot more characters I was more familiar with, though the older Avengers members were dealing with the Titans with S.H.I.E.L.D's aid. I don't know much about the Titans, but that's okay, I still find it interesting and it was a good introduction for other readers to get a taste, and if they wanna read more, go and get the comic and read more!

Again, the artwork is awesome!

20 page tease, fcdb entries are supposed to do that i suppose

Two great concepts, an extinction level event will is happening in four days, all is lost for humanity, the only hope is an ark made by....... Reed Richard's daughter and son!

The second tease is what would happen if the Avengers had to deal with the creatures from the popular manga series Attack on Titan! Now I have to see if they went anywhere with these arcs....

Valeria Richards is the daughter of Mister Fantastic. She’s quite bitchy.

Valeria is trying to take charge of the situation. She wants to get everyone together and organized around the ship.

Franklin Richards reminds us of some history. Turns out, universes are colliding. When they first found out, the group of great men splintered and The Cabal took place.

The second story features the Avengers and the Titans—Spider-Man and the Incredible Hulk.

Very scattered, unfortunately.

This to me was the start of a final arc spanning years. What a journey Hickman created here. Something I honestly enjoyed so much, secret wars is the culmination of it all and does it so well.
You can read this is isolation however I would personally read all of Hickmans build up for the true experience, honestly some of the best writing in modern comics and with astonishing art.

This to me is up there with the watchmen, the sculptor, saga. And perhaps personally for me trumps them all.

Empat hari lagi dunia kiamat. Tidak ada lagi peluang untuk menang. Satu-satunya solusi yang tersisa adalah jangan kalah. Valeria Richards, anak perempuan Mr. Fantastic, bersama teman-temannya membangun bahtera Nuh yang hanya muat untuk kira-kira 60 orang. Titan dari manga Jepang menyerang New York dan memakani orang-orang. Avengers berusaha mengalahkan mereka.

I've always liked the slightly bratty knowitall kids from FF, so this short intro to the new 'event's amused and interested me.

Oh, and I liked the unconnected extra Avengers vs Titans comic at the end.

Covid catch up

This was an entry that caught my eye. The art work is flamboyant. Very creative. Not much storyline to comment on. Was worth the time involved to read and admire.

Okay

Not really great, but then I'm not a huge fan of mixing genres like this. I guess its just not to my taste but others may enjoy it.
