This was a cute short story with sweet romance and an adorable cat shifter. It was nice to see a superhero story with retired heroes who find a peaceful place to still make a difference and young super ables who need to lie low. As an archery coach, I appreciated Carli's skill with a bow and arrow, which was perfectly described. This story makes me want to go on a retreat at Wanderer's Lake, especially if Carli is cooking.

Carli does a lot of soul searching in a foreign country, experiments with new recipes, has a huge crush on a strong, handsome man with super powers, and befriends a small, shy cat.
It's all about acceptance - accepting who you are, accepting others as they are - and maybe being willing to take a chance.
Plus, it's super cozy, and I think the setting plays a lot into that. (Who can resist a quaint English retreat with a beautiful lake?)

The bonus short story at the end also packed a punch.
