Lila Felix is full of antics and stories. She refused to go to Kindergarten after the teacher made her take a nap on the first day of school. She staged her first protest in middle school. She almost flunked out of her first semester at Pepperdine University because she was enthralled with their library and frequently was locked in. Now her husband and three children have to put up with her rebel nature in Louisiana where her days are filled with cypress trees, crawfish, and of course her books and writing. She writes about the ordinary people who fall extraordinarily in wild, true love.

This is the problem and the glory of Lucent women. You can’t hold them down. Any man in love with a Lucent female is doomed and blessed to eternally chase her lightning. You can’t anchor them. You can’t guarantee they will be in your bed the next morning or anytime at all.

But when I had Colby—I had her heart and soul.

**

When you have the ability to flash to a different country in the blink of an eye, the possibilities are endless. The world is yours for the taking. But what if you are trying to keep that 'world' at arm’s reach for his own safety? What happens when your world reveals a secret so mind blowing you don't know whether to rejoice or curl up and cry?

Colby has always been the wild card in her world of Lucents. Never one to play by the rules. But when Theo comes back into her life and reveals a few things about himself, she begins to realize her true feelings for him. Together they head out seeking answers about who he is and what this means for their future. Together they will get through this. Or will they?

**
“Me and you. It’s always been me and you. No matter how stubborn I am, no matter how hard I fight you. Even when I push you as far away as I can and when it’s not far enough, I cross the planet to get away from you. No matter what, it will always be me and you.”

He brought his face as close to mine as he could. Chocolate chip cookies laced his breath and what girl in her right mind doesn’t want to be kissed by a boy who tastes like chocolate. His gray eyes danced around my face before landing on my lips. It wasn’t his eyes I wanted on my mouth. His eyes and mouth rose simultaneously in a smile, “Took you long enough.”

**

I loved the unique storyline of this book. I have read of time travelers and whatnot, but Lucents are not time travelers. They stay in the present but can flash anywhere they put their mind to. Literally. Like lightning. In the blink of an eye they are able to go from point A to point B. As long as they have been there before or seen a picture they can visualize. Simple as that. But it is only the female Lucents. Male Lucents are a rare thing. And of course Theo would be one.

And of course they would have enemies. This whole journey is a fight for their lives and to stay out of the hands of the Resin. But what if the enemies are closer than they think? Yep, this book had me wondering over and over "who could they trust?" Everyone is suspect at this point. But I loved that about the story. I loved the mystery that is produced. I loved playing detective, seeking out the bad guys.

**
“Why must you break me?” He breathed into my face. His hair danced along my forehead.

“I’m not.” I defied him.

“Yes, you do. Every time I’m in a room with you and I can’t touch you—you break me. Every time you pretend that we are only friends—you break me. Does it make you happy to break me, Querida?”

“No.”

**

And then we have the romance. The first half is romance free. Sort of. Colby is denying her feelings for Theo during most of this time. But we see it. She cannot pull one over on us. We know there are feelings for him. It is only a matter of time before he falters and gives in. Theo is a sweetheart. I loved he was a good guy and played by the rules of his people. For the most part. But he is adorable and sexy and absolutely swoony.

All that is left to say is that LIGHTNING KISSED is a fabulous read and will leave you gasping for the next book! Oh yes, this ending is sure to please and have you eagerly anticipating what is to come. 5 Amazing Stars!

Other fav line...
“That should be us. We should be in the streets, enjoying life together. Sometimes this ability doesn’t seem like a gift at all. Sometimes it seems like false freedom.” I whispered more to the dark than to Colby. I could feel her take a deep breath with her back against my chest.

“One day it will be. That’s all I want.”

“Tell me what you want, Querida. Tell me all of it.” Her hair moved as the motion of my whisper floated across it.

“Just go to sleep, Theo.” Her voice drifted with the last words.

UPDATED REVIEW:
When I first read LIGHTNING KISSED it was known as LIGHTNING IN MY WAKE. Now that Felix got it picked up by a great new publisher it has been cleaned up and polished, given a fabulous new name, and got one heck of a gorgeous new cover. But the story is the same wonderful tale as before.

So if you haven't read it the first time around, you're in luck! You get to experience all this greatness for the first time. The journey that Colby and Theo partake on is exciting and life changing for the both of them and their people. They try to figure out what is happening to them and between them. Nothing will be the same in the end. But the end is only the beginning....

Huge thank you to Xpresso Blog Tours for giving me an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review!

Order this book now! Lila Felix has made me fall in love with this book, and I am so desperate to get my hands on the second novel in this series. I can't even tell you how much I enjoyed this book because my love is all over the place. This novel is unique and like something I have never read previously. This book grabbed my interest immediately, and didn't let go until I was finished reading. So basically, this book was

description

This novel follows Colby and Theo, two Lucents who can "flash" anywhere they want, anytime. Colby likes to refer to herself as a "flasher," which had me laughing very hard the first time I read it (okay...it still cracks me up), and being the rebel that she is, tends to push the buttons of those in charge. There's a lot of terminology in this novel as it is a completely new and unique world, but I was never once confused. Everything felt natural and Lila Felix revealed everything at a natural pace, never once overwhelming the reader. The plot was expertly written, and so creative. I don't know how Ms. Felix came up with it, but I am happy she did because I'm now obsessed with this world! The story (although fictional) seemed very well researched. There are many exciting travel locations and I truly felt as if I was there every single time. Plus, now I want to go to all of the places that Colby and Theo flashed to!

This novel is told in alternating POVs, Colby and Theo. Colby was an amazing female lead. I loved the sassy, spunky attitude that she had. She is fiercely independent, but love Theo with all that she is--even though she tries to distance herself from him. Colby also is hilarious, and had me cracking up many times while reading. Underneath that tough exterior though, she has a big heart that is full of love. I loved reading her chapters because these were the times when we saw her true vulnerabilities come through. However, she grows immensely over the course of the novel, and I am interested to see where her character goes from here. Theo was AMAZING! I loved every single thing about this guy, and he's definitely a new book boyfriend. Just trust me on this, when you meet him, you'll fall in love instantly. He's exactly what every girl should have in their life.

description

Together though Colby and Theo are the epitome of sparks flying. Their chemistry is spot on and they have a natural flow to their relationship. They're best friends and trust each other implicitly. Only Colby can balance out/quiet Theo's ever-growing power, and these scenes made for some very heartfelt moments. While their scenes are sexy, it's an understated sexy. This was refreshing to read and these scenes never overshadowed the plot.

With a brilliant and unique plot, Lila Felix has crafted a story that is sure to be a huge hit once it is released in early January! There is a huge twist at the end that I wasn't expecting, which makes me even more eager to read the sequel to this amazing novel! Check this book out if you are looking for something new and exciting. You won't be disappointed!

Happy reading :)

I enjoyed reading Lighting Kissed. In fact the way in which they "flash" reminded me a lot of the movie Jumper.

The plot was fast moving and plenty of action to boot. My favorite thing about Lightning Kissed was all of the exotic places! Not to mention the shopping, I mean being able to flash into a store in seconds, amazing! Lila's writing pulled me in and made me feel as if I was flashing right along with Colby and Theo!

The one downfall for me was not being able to connect with the characters. As of late I've been thoroughly enjoying alternate POV, however I feel in this case the POV moved around too much. I think I would have connected more if the first half was written in either Colby or Theo's POV and the last half the other's POV.

Even though I didn't connect as much as I would have liked to the characters, I thought Theo and Colby balance each other out wonderfully. Where Theo is structured, Colby is wild and untamed.

Oh my gosh, that ending! If I were to give out an award to best cliff hanger I think it'd be to this book! I will definitely be picking up book two to see what happens!

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The idea of the story is pretty cool, and I did enjoy finding out about the Lucents. It's an interesting concept.

But that's really where my enjoyment ended. It was hard to motivate myself to keep reading. It would be okay for a bit, and every now and again I would become immersed for a chapter or so... but then it would get too wordy or stop making sense.

I kinda liked Theo. That's the closest I got to connecting with a character. And I tried, a lot. It took me a month to finish this book, because I was struggling through it.

There will be other books in this series, but I won't be continuing it.

Colby Evans is a Lucent, a time traveller who travels the globe like lightning in the sky. Being a Lucent is something that's passed from mother to daughter. When Colby discovers Theo is a Lucent, too, things get complicated. They fall in love and their enemies keep growing. Colby'll do everything to protect Theo and vice versa. But is their love fleeting or the read deal?

I really wanted to like this one. The premise sounds thrilling and right up my alley. However, the pacing is v-e-r-y slow and at times, the plot doesn't go anywhere. I found myself skimming parts. Disappointing as I hate skimming.

This one had a really strong start with great writing. I would have liked for more action but that's a personal preference. Not sure how I feel about Colby. I could see what the author was trying to do in developing her character but it was still slightly hard to swallow. Still, was a great first novel in a series.

No. I did not just read a book that left me hanging. I mean, I liked it and all, but I did not expect it to end the way it did. Also, I was not aware (or fully forgot really) that this was book 3 in a series. But upon further "research" it's like the 2nd? Idk. I'm confused. But it's a series I would follow because I enjoyed the story, it was a light read, and I love the idea of traveling Jumper style. I think it's been a while since I read a YA paranormal that's clean.

----------REVIEW FROM MY BLOG-------------
http://nicklelove.com/book-review-lig...

I have not read a paranormal book in a long time and it’s refreshing to be sucked into a fictional world like this one, ESPECIALLY since it’s a clean book. It doesn’t have sex in the story.

Lightning Kissed has a “Jumper” feel to it. Lucents can travel to any place as long as they have an exact idea where to go. Like in the movie, pictures help visualize where they will end up. Wouldn’t it be cool to have a power like that? You can go anywhere you want without having to take a plane or wait hours to get there. I for one would enjoy seeing and spending time in a different place every day. Its like the ultimate backpacker/traveler’s dream!

Disclaimer: I was not aware or I simply forgot that this was book 3 in the series, despite that I still got to enjoy reading this book and I didn’t feel like I am missing something from the story because everything was explained in a manner that allows you to enjoy the book without having to read the previous books in the series.

So back to the story. The Lucent gene is passed on to the female offspring only. In very rare occasions, a male offspring will inherit the gene. Theo did. I guess this is where things get complicated? There are all these rules, as always, but our heroine does not respond well to authority. I bet you already have an idea where this is going. In a way, Colby does not exactly know what to do with Theo and his new found gifts.

The story was written well. It’s written in alternating views of Colby and Theo. It is imaginative and entertaining. Even though it ended the way it did, it gives my imagination more room for speculations about what’s going to happen next. I would recommend this because it’s an enjoyable read with lovable characters.

AWESOME!!!!!
Full review....
Lila Felix has blown me away...With Lightning Kissed, she has created a unique, intriguing world that draws the reader in to the complex and dynamic storyline featuring some fascinating characters.
We begin by meeting Colby Evans. She calls herself a flasher and when I first read it, I died laughing. Of course it isn't the type of flasher that you are thinking about right now, but she has the ability to flash from one place to another like lightning. What an awesome power to have!! I would soooo die to have it...My commutes would be so much better as well as being about to travel anywhere in the world any time I please?? OH YES!!!
But, this isn't all that is so great about her...She is one spunky woman...I absolutely love her strength, her huge heart, her sass, her humor, and her vulnerability. She is a force to be reckoned with and I adored reading about her...
But it was the compelling relationship with Theo that kept me glued to the pages. When you meet him, be ready ladies...this guy is remarkable. He captured my heart immediately and that was just after reading his email to Colby. OMG!! I knew right away he was going to a heart-stopper...And boy was her ever...
And these two together?? Be still my beating heart...The sparks flew off the pages and the chemistry was explosive...Two souls couldn't have been more perfect for each other yet they were so different. They complimented each other and provided the ideal relationship of compromise that so many people need.
*sighs*
So, while I was awing over these two, the plot thickened and the events unfolded to prepare me for a tale of brilliance. Stimulated by the action of what Theo and Colby are enduring; I was biting my nails at the suspenseful scenes laid before me. Hard decisions were placed in the hands of these two and my heart ached at what I saw coming...
AND THEN...oh yes...it happened...an interesting twist to the ending that has now left me eagerly awaiting the release of book 2...*cries hysterically*
Go get this book...seriously...absolute LOVE for this book...

I don't do paranormal. I just don't. But somehow I guess my tastes are changing or beloved authors like Lila Felix continue to manage to change my mind. Either way, I have to tell you that Lightning Kissed is fantastic!!!

The complicated life a Lucent: Colby gets to 'flash' to wherever she wants to go in the world, whenever she wants, yet needs to steer clear of a group of stuck-up snobs who threaten to make her life miserable. She's denied her love of Theo to prevent herself from getting hurt when he will ultimately leave her because all the important men in her life do. But when Theo reenters her life and needs her more than ever after secrets to his true identity are revealed, that is when the adventure begins.

Wow. There was a boatload of terminology I wasn't familiar with but the author guided me through it all and never once did I feel like an outsider to this genre. The story-line is yet again combined with a beautiful love that is both sweet and true, sort of the M.O. for Lila Felix. She doesn't do erotic or wildly sexy and you don't miss it. Her storytelling is always well researched and the sincere love between Colby and Theo and actually for all of her couples in her prior books is like no other. You get that sense of true belonging and for Colby and Theo, their hearts were always connected and I feel as if no matter what happens, they always will be. Truly a lifetime love.

The secondary characters in Collin, Ari and now Torrent made this book complete. They compliment the fire and fiestiness in Colby and the loyalty and calm in Theo. Watching their interactions kept me on my toes throughout and I look forward to more! The story ends just as we're getting to the meat of this story and I'm left here anxiously awaiting book 2. It is a wonderful read that I highly recommend. I mean if you can get me to switch genres and like it? Winner right there.

A solid 5 stars!!

Felt like reading excerpts of a story.

This is hard to explain, but I've seen it too many times to not address it.
This book is lacking depth. The author uses past tense to explain background information, including character development.
It felt like watching a movie that is based on a book I've never read.
It's like reading a diary that keeps talking about the past while talking about the present.
Why couldn't the writer just write their story instead of tell us their story? It doesn't make since to me to write a book without writing the story.
The world is explained just enough to get through the scenes but not enough for you to understand it or dive into it. The characters themselves are great, but once again the description was mostly in past tense by another character instead of the author. Maybe this is a style of writing and I just hate it or it's just bad writing.

I tend to stay away from anything "otherworldly" nowadays, I went through that phase 3 years ago. I was given the opportunity to read this story and I'm glad that I did, it was different to anything I've read before.

Colby can zip around the world in a flash - a lightning flash that is. She is a fiercely loyal character and looks out for her friends and family. Theo is her person in every way. He too will protect her as he too can flash wherever he needs to go.

This is a tale of their journey together. A great tale at that.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The story has a lot of potential, but the execution wasn't for me. I didn't really click with the characters, so I wasn't that invested in what was happening to them. It was written much like the ability of the characters. It jumps very quickly from one thing to the next, for my tastes. Perhaps the story and characters could have been fleshed out a little more.

I received an eARC via Clean Teen Publishing Elite Reviewers which I am a member of. I made no guarantee of a favorable review and the opinions expressed here are unbiased and my own.

This is a fast paced read that combines paranormal, science fiction and just the right amount of romance to make it a very enjoyable read. The plot is full of intrigue and the characters are likeable.

Truly an electrifying start to this series and I cannot wait to read the next book.

Disjointed. Obvious parallels to current popular pulp series. Writing is amateurish, with "big words" used to attempt to sound worldly... which fails when they're used in improper context.
The only saving grace to the story is the likability of the protagonist, dredging an extra star up for my rating. But I won't be reading the next book in the series.

It’s probably no secret that I adore Clean Teen Publishing (and their more mature sister, Crimson Tree Publishing) and that I am a member of their street team. So when I saw this tour opportunity arise with Xpresso Books, I jumped at the chance to participate. Of course I wanted to read Lightning Kissed anyway, considering I have the e-book in its first incarnation as a self-published novel from Lila before she joined forces with CTP. I thought Lightning Kissed was a solid series opener that, while not perfect, definitely has me hooked and waiting for the second book to drop. Overall, I’d give this book 3.5 stars (which will be rounded up to 4 stars on Goodreads, Amazon, and other sites that don’t allow half stars).

I think the thing I liked most about this book was the dual POV, with chapters switching between Colby and Theo. They are so very different, and it was nice to get a peek inside both of their heads, rather than just seeing the story from one POV or the other. I will admit that, while I identified to some degree with Colby and her “unemotional” personality, she had a way of grating on me and frustrating me, so I was really happy that Lila included almost as many chapters from Theo’s point of view. I actually quite like dual (or multiple) POV books, but for those of you who aren’t usually fans, I will say this: the chapters are clearly labeled so you know whose head you’re in; the two characters have clearly distinct voices, as well, so you’d be right 99% of the time even without those labels; and this story lends itself well to being privy to the internal thoughts and perspective of each of the characters. So, please, don’t let the dual POV scare you off!

I also really liked the idea of “flashing,” of being able to channel the electricity in lightning (or something like that; it’s not exactly scientifically explained) and popping off in a second to any place in the world you’d like to be. Some of the places they went to and described sounded pretty amazing, and I’d actually love to know if Lila has been to these places or just researched them! She did a good job of describing them, at least according to someone who’s never been to such amazing places as Iceland, Tibet, and Portugal herself :) (um, yeah, I’m talking about me).

As I mentioned above, though, I had some trouble really connecting with Colby. Although I identified with her to some extent, I found her to be quite spoiled, impetuous, and a little TOO standoffish, even with a boy who’s been the love of her life since Kindergarten. I recognized myself in her inability to express in words how much she loves Theo, and in the walls she’s built around her heart after the death of her father. Not everyone - including women! - can easily speak or show their emotions. For that matter, not everyone has really strong emotions one way or the other to be expressed! So I do understand that about Colby and I even empathize with her - to a certain degree. At some point, though, I just wanted to shake her and tell her she needed to GROW UP and realize the world does not revolve around her, and that she’s really darn lucky that Theo is even still speaking to her, much less wanting to be with her! She takes a lot for granted, and when he finally busts forth about it, she flashes off in a huff. At the same time, I definitely didn’t think she was all bad, and I DID appreciate how we see some emotional growth from her. She does mature some as the end of the book comes around, and I think we will continue to see her personal growth in the next book in the series.

On the positive side with characters, I couldn’t get enough of Theo!! I liked being inside his head, and I was swooning over him quite a bit throughout this book! He is a perfect gentleman, yet still sexy; he puts Colby’s needs ahead of his own (to his detriment, sometimes); he cares deeply about Colby and his family and is not at all afraid to show it; and he’s a true romantic with a heart of gold. Colby was crazy to ever give him up in the first place! I think you’ll love Theo’s character, too. Oh, AND he speaks in gorgeous, sexy Portuguese to Colby! yuuummmm....

A few final thoughts (constructive criticism/feedback for the author):

I admit I was confused at the beginning of the book, as you’re thrown right into the story without much explanation of the history of the Lucent and the politics of their situation. It was leaked kind of slowly throughout the book, but I still don’t feel like I have a complete handle on what’s going on with the Synod and Escuro and Resin and Eidolon and all those other terms and groups of people. I hope more will be explained in the next book.

Also, there were these commandments/laws/rules set forth at the beginning of each chapter that I assume are promulgated by the Synod...but it’s never really explained to us whether or not that’s true (or what, exactly, they are). Also, I kept trying to make a connection between the rule at the beginning of a chapter and the story within that chapter - even down to the final chapter of the book! - but as far as I can tell there’s really no connection. It’s not a huge deal, but I just wasn’t really sure why they were included at the top of each chapter if they didn’t directly relate to what we were about to read, if that makes sense.

Finally, the ONE character flaw I saw with Theo is his tendency to talk about Colby every now and then as “my female.” I just...well, I’ll be honest, I just HATED it. I’ve read it before in PNRs, especially in shifter books (I suppose because it is kind of an animalistic way of thinking?), and the only book I’ve read that used this kind of language where I didn’t really mind it was one with an alien race. In that case, I was more okay with it because that race didn’t divide themselves into “men” and “women,” which is a gender construct; it was based solely on one’s sex, ie, male or female. And to be honest, I still didn’t really LIKE reading it in that book, either. But here, in Lightning Kissed, it just felt so out of character for Theo - the big-hearted romantic - that it just left a bad taste in my mouth. For what that’s worth :)

Overall, Lightning Kissed is a solid start to this series, and I will definitely be continuing on with the next book in the series, Lightning Sealed, which releases on February 1! Thanks to CTP and Xpresso Reads for the advance copy and for letting me participate in this tour!

Good read! Defiantly worth giving a try. Told in dual POV. Good character development and a new storyline than your typical supernatural story. Thanks a very likeable character and you can immediately tell he is the rock of the family.

I have to ask, how can you end a book with, "To Be Continued? " It may have been a good idea for a story and an interesting plot, but why even publish a book if it's not finished?

'Lightning Kissed' was an exciting start to this new series by Lila Felix. The whole story was really fascinating. Just the ability to travel to another country in the blink of an eye alone is incredible. To consider the pros and cons of this ability is a book in itself. But then adding in the romance and the corrupt governing body, and you have an even better read. Now, this story was a bit info-dumpy in the beginning, so it took me a few chapters to get into it. But once the story started progressing, I really enjoyed all the angles Felix took to explore this story.

I particularly liked the character development with Theo and Colby. We know that they are not a couple in the beginning of the novel, but that they were in the past, and the whys of the break up are revealed. But for Theo and Colby, destiny has its own plans for them, and their love is as endless as space and time. So what we get is a wonderful exploration of who Theo and Colby are as individuals as well as how they are as a couple. Seeing Colby grow in her character was one of the highlights of this story. Her going from completely self-absorbed to humble was thoughtfully executed. Theo, as well, grows in tremendous ways. He's still the thoughtful, humble guy he's always been, but the weight of responsibility also brings out his confidence and leadership. I really loved these two.

Of course, a great story like this needs romance, and we get that in spades. But what was particularly special was that this wasn't a new relationship. This was a bond forged over years, and nothing - even themselves - could break it. Theo and Colby are really sweet together. But they are also fierce together. They've learned the importance of having the other in their life, and you can see how that changes and matures them for the better. They are also passionate, but respectfully so, and that makes them even sweeter to read about. There were many moments I was truly worried for them, and that's because they really dig into your heart. If this series doesn't give them a happy ending, I will be heart-broken.

And then there's the suspense and drama. This is no simple romance. Theo is learning who he is, and that knowledge holds great and pressing responsibility. There are enemies that want to use him, destroy him, or be him. His position is no picnic, and Colby is right there by his side. As the story progressed, my nerves increased. There's no knowing who or what is lurking around the corner. But it's an exciting ride. I was worried because I was told there was a cliffhanger at the end. And there is, but it is not nearly as bad as I expected. I won't tell you what I expected, but I was envisioning all the ways we hate authors leaving us in suspense. This ending just makes you excited for the next book, because once again, I don't know what to expect, but it looks like it will be exciting.

Side note: This is a "Clean Teen" publication, so the language surprised me. It wasn't excessive, and there were no f-bombs, but I still wasn't expecting it considering the "Clean Teen" label. This just shows you that a "clean" read is still subjective. And if you are concerned, there is kissing and some making out, but no sex or heavy petting. If you are curious about Clean Teen Publishing's standards, you can find them here: http://www.cleanteenpublishing.com.

I really enjoyed 'Lightning Kissed.' With the fascinating Lucent world, the exciting and nerve-wracking drama, the heartfelt and endearing characters, and the sweet and timeless romance, this story was a winner. I can't wait to se what is in store for Theo, Colby, and the gang next.

I look forward to the next chapter in colby and Theo’s lives. Especially with that ending. Wow. Didn’t expect that in a million years.

The book has twists not expected and I want to know who the mole is. Who of their closest turned against them. When the book starts these two are two ships passing in the night. Colby is self absorbed and left theo two years ago to protect herself more than what she says that is to protect him. she goes through life trying to keep people at a distance show she doesn’t lose anyone. So she works and works.

theo is off learning about himself and his powers trying to figure out who he is and hoping this will show Colby that they can be together. He hones his traveling skills and in the process finds out he has more than just traveling skills. So many more so now he is trying to see if he is the one. This is how he found Collin. Collin the guardian who loses everything to help him and also asks Collin to allow him to come with him and help him further. Collin is a quiet man. A kind loyal man. Just misunderstood because he has been alone for so long. His relationship with Colby was fun. they were like brother/sister jabbing at each other.

when theo and Colby see each other again and at a vacation their parents set up they can’t help but come together. Not that Colby didn’t fight for she did. She fought with all she had. Theo had changed though. He didn’t take as much from Colby. He lets her know what she is and doesn’t give in to all she wants. She is his love but he isn’t going to accept her ways completely. He still is kind, caring, attentive and sweet. He is romantic but also serious and beautiful inside and out. A swoony man who has alot on his shoulders. He is the One. One that is dangerous to the Synod but also one they wish to use. He wants Colby in his life but wants to do what is right as well.

He is torn at the end and it is so sad to see. The journey to finding answers to what theo is and about Eivan and his life. Also about his mate Sevella and all they went through. To find out what Theo’s purpose is. What they find is betrayal, danger and more mystery. They find their love for each other and concede to it. They find sadness but also purpose and they find a frenemy who is now an ally.

the book is alluring and fascinating. The characters are strong and independent. Each has a unique personality but also give us a different aspect into the story. the story is told from the POV of Theo and Colby. I love Theo’s more than Colby’s because his shows us who he truly is. He is more than just lovesick and smart. He is fierce, kind, gentle, sweet and swoony. quite the romantic. But we also see his journey and what he has been through in the time he has been away from Colby.

A wonderfully written entertaining book about finding out you are more than one thinks powerwise and finding your way back to the one you are meant to be with. A story of danger and intrigue of finding your purpose and accepting it.

I received this book for free from Xpresso Book Tours in exchange for an honest review. This will not affect my decision in any way.

Cover: The cover just draws you in. You have some lightning, a hot guy, what could be better? I love how the colors work together and how the cover is eye-catching. I would definitely pick it up off of a shelf. I want it on my shelf. The only aspect that I’m not a big fan of is the fonts.

Characters: The characters have such spunk and are all personalities. The women are are strong-headed and rebellious. The men are hot. Everyone seems to have it together…

Colby. Wow. She’s such a strong lead. She has her own thoughts and no manners whatsoever. I loved her. She was funny to watch and see how she responds to certain situations. She just made the book so much better because you could never be certain how she would respond.

Theo knows how to put up with Colby. He understands Colby and knows how to deal with her. He’s sweet and a gentleman. He’s an all-around great guy. I feel sympathy for him and the choices he has to make.

Plot: Lightning people? That rings a bell. Lightning Kissed reminds me a lot of the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout though the lightning peeps were about the only similarities. When I started reading, I was excited since I was such a fan of the Lux series and I thought Lightning Kissed would be somewhat similar. Felix could not have taken this book in a more different direction. It may be the same type of power, but the plot was totally different.

I was shocked at how much history this book had. Felix really created a new fictional world with this novel. She had everything figured out about how the Lucent had gotten their powers, to the rules she had to follow, to how they dealt with the government. It was very thought out and well-written.

Ending: OMG! I loved/hated the plot twist. I’m glad that there’s another alternative because I love Colby and Theo together, but I don’t think this way is any better. I have a bad feeling about it, and I want to read more. The plot twist was amazing.

Overall: Lightning Kissed was a thrilling page-turner that had me cheesing of the adorableness of Colby and Theo. I ship them so hard! I need more of their awesome adventure, and I really hope everything turns out for them. Felix is a great author! I love her imagination and creativity. I need to read more books by her, and I recommend you give Lightning Kissed a try.
