As Jess and Mason continue their battle against the princes of Hell on alternate Earth, they must first deal with the aftermath of their failures. After neglecting to prevent the fourth seal from being opened, a new threat is unleashed on the world that only Jess and the other vessels can neutralize. Each of them was brought to this alternate reality for a purpose, and only through facing adversity can they truly find their strengths. After discovering Ravan’s real identity, Jess begins to wonder what role she is destined to play in Lucian’s diabolical plans. Why has he allowed Ravan to live so long on this Earth? What is her true purpose for being? Jess soon realizes that the answers to those questions, and so many more, might lie with Lucifer. However, finding where Lucian is keeping his favorite pet prize won’t be an easy task and rescuing him might prove to be impossible. Meanwhile, the resistance continues to search for clues to uncover the objective of Project T-7. It’s obvious that the princes are searching for something, but what is it? How will its discovery help them intensify the doomsday scenario they’ve already set into motion? Jess and the others know that whatever the princes are trying to locate needs to be found by them first. Will they be able to find out what Project T-7 is all about in time to save alternate Earth? The odds are definitely not in their favor, but with the knowledge that God is on their side, all hope is not lost. Jess knows that she and her friends will have to tackle new challenges at every turn, but she also knows that together they’re strong enough to handle whatever might come their way. Once upon a time, a little girl was born on a cold winter morning in the heart of Seoul, Korea. She was brought to America by her parents and raised in the Deep South where the words ma'am and y'all became an integrated part of her lexicon. She wrote her first novel at the age of eight and continued writing on and off during her teenage years. In college she studied biology and chemistry and finally combined the two by earning a master's degree in biochemistry. After that she moved to Yankee land where she lived for four years working in a laboratory at Cornell University. Homesickness and snow aversion forced her back South where she lives in the land which spawned Elvis Presley, Oprah Winfrey, John Grisham and B.B. King. After finding her Prince Charming, she gave birth to a wondrous gift named Caylin and they all lived happily ever after.
The second book to the Harvester of Light trilogy will be available for purchase no later than December 2012.
This book had more going on than the first book and I enjoyed reading it but I would’ve loved more page time with the Vessel’s considering they came to alternate earth with Jess, Mason, Malcolm, Tristan, Jered and Lucifer but I suppose Jess was trying to protect them all so it wasn’t until Leah suggested that maybe her fire could k*ll the swarm of birds that are attacking people due to the fourth seal being opened and Jess basically told her no as she feels protective of all the Vessels but extra protective of Leah and Chandler than the others. Zach told Jess that she shouldn’t discount Leah’s suggestion just because she wants to keep them all safe but they came to alternate earth to help and Jess needs to let them. Jess finally realised that she can let the others help like her and Leah using their combined fire from Leah’s staff and Jess’s sword to k*ll the swarm of birds, Chandler and Zach plan go on small missions with Isaiah and Baruch that they’ll be careful but well protected with Isaiah and Baruch, Rafe wants to go to rural communities to heal those that need it and Nina will be there to other her protection if he needs it and JoJo and Gabe know their limitations so they’re staying back at headquarters to make the Watchers of alternate earth special leather outfits like all the Vessels have and Gabe is happy to help cut out the pieces of leather so JoJo can do her thing while sowing them together to make the outfits, as that’s how her gift works. There were a lot of different people introduced during this book with the different Watchers and their kids it was quite hard to keep them all straight. All I can say is I really don’t like Peyton as she says that she loves her daughter Dillon but then she only agrees to help Jess, Mason, Brand and Nina rescue Ava and Lucifer if Brand agrees to rip out Dillon’s wings so she can’t just fly away. She’s completely spineless as that’s not love and at least her father Will gives Dillon a choice even if he’s a completely horrible person. Wow, I was totally not expecting the way this book ended and it makes me that much more excited reading the final book to see what happens. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.
The plot thickens and Jess, Mason, Leah, Chandler, Jo-Jo, and the gang still try to fight the Lucian, Ravan and the bad princes on the Alternate world with the good alternative Watchers like Brand, Slade, Nina and a few more, but are they strong enough against Lucian? And will Lucifer help them ? I love this series, I think it's such a great addition to the series, I definitely would recommend and I can't put the book down, onto the last book!!!
The ending has left me speechles and anxious to read the next one so my review will be short 😉 Finally things start to go their way only to get the rug pulled from underneath them. Plus an unexpected surprise, new love and deaths. Quite a few bombshells in this book especially at the end. Must read!!
You just want to shake him and make him get it. He cares for jessica, he's a good guy deep down, and he is stubborn to the core. Leah finding her birth mother literally made me cry, and rage finding his love...what a huge surprise there. Talk about opposites attracting. Jess losing her memory...what!? The twists and turns are great in this book.
Not my favorite in the series to read. The storyline seemed to drag on and on. The love scenes were dull and too frequent. I only endured because I wanted to read about Malcolm and Anna and don't want to miss anything significant.
4.0. West has built a great world with relatable characters, and her stories are fast-paced and full of action and romance.
Plot: After the fourth seal is opened, and she realizes that Ravan is actually Lilith, Jess becomes more and more confused about the reason God wanted her and the other vessels to come to Alternate Earth. She knows that Lucifer might be able to help her, but Lucian has imprisoned him, and even if he were free, nothing with him is ever easy.
Characters: Jess, Mason, and the vessels are all as awesome as ever, and I love the concept of Lucifer as a kind of antihero. It was still a little hard to get used to the differences in the original characters and their Alternate Earth doppelgangers, but I definitely grew to care about them.
Writing: For the most part, Uprising was well edited. There’s not much language, but there is a little bit of violence. Also, while Cataclysm was still pretty appropriate for young adults, Uprising contains a few more sexual situations. Those scenes aren’t overly explicit, but if the book were a movie, I’d rate it a PG13 or maybe even an R.
The Bottom Line: One of the best things about the Watcher books is that there’s always some kind of challenge or obstacle that must be overcome. The more you read, the more you start to think like Jess … that everything will be okay as long as you have faith in God. Then the unthinkable happens, and that sense of security goes out the window (in the form of a cliffhanger no less). I’m definitely looking forward to reading Judgment to see how everything plays out.
Uprising Alternate Earth Series Book 2 By Author S.J. West 4 August 2015
Words can not describe my anger, grief and pain right now. As I read through this, book 2. I'm racked with the emotions stated above. I have been on this journey through 11 books from this Author and her multiple series, making this book 12. Even though I'm overwhelmed with joy that this isn't the last book in this latest collection of series. I'm angry that I was unaware that her next installment I'll have to wait to continue on my literary journey.
I came late to the party of this author, just starting to read her Watcher Trilogy, Chronicles, Caylin's Story, Aiden's Story and now The Alternate Earth Series starting last week of June 2015 - now 4 August 2015. Right away I was transported into a world of Angles, Demons, God, Lucifer, Vessels and human characters that I have come to love, love to hate, cheer for and grieve after. I ravaged each word, page and book so desperately that I had to be reminded to eat and even sleep.
I'm so extremely upset that I now have to wait on baited breath for the next installment. I usually reread each series in this authors work when I've finished before moving to the next, but being left falling off a cliff has absolutely devastated me to my very core. I'm in a daze of numbness..... I will most likely reread these latest 2 books in her series hoping to keep me sane until the next book is released. I pray that it's release is as scheduled late summer early fall 2015.
An absolutely incredible ride of everything you can imagine and much, much more!!!! A definite 5 Star Read!!! ~WaAr~

Uprising is book 2 in The Alternate Earth trilogy and it continues the excitement and adventure of the first book. Just a reminder that the Alternate Earth series should be read after reading the Watchers chronicles, or else many plot points and characters won't make sense! Once again, Jess, Mason and the game are trying to save the world on Alternate Earth but thats no easy task. The book is written from Jess' point of view. The Alternate Earth series in general is such an original book series! Taking all the characters we love and then meeting different versions of them on Alternate Earth. Not only are there different versions of the characters but they all have their secrets as well. As always the princes of Hell and Lucifer appear to be up to no good , but all is not that it seems.
Jess is one of my all time favourite S.J.West characters and she proves yet again how tenacious and awesome she is. I love the challenging dynamic of her friendship with Lucifer and how it shows how complex these characters are. Even when she is fighting to save the world from Armageddon, she is still thinking of her children and her life on Earth. This book was an emotional rollercoaster and I went from laughing to crying multiple times, sometimes on the same page.
The cliffhanger at the end of the book made me realize I couldn't wait until the final book in the series was coming out, although I guess I had to!!
What I truly love about this author is the ability to weave a well thought out and complicated storyline. This is certainly not a stand-alone book and should not be thought of as such. To truly understand and enjoy this book the reader should start at the beginning and by beginning I mean start with the Watcher Trilogy. That is where the journey begins. I have thoroughly enjoyed every book in this storyline and the characters and their journey to get where they are at this point.
That being said, this book is no exception. The ending for me was so twisted and unexpected that I now wish I had waited for the next book to have been released before I picked this one up to read. All I could think as I read the last sentence was, SNAP! I love this author and this series, I cannot wait for the next installment to be released. Thank you SJ West, please don't make us wait too long for the next book in this series.
Once I began to read Uprising, I realised that I needed to go back and reread Book #1, Catalyst. I was lost from the beginning of Uprising and it would have helped to have a prologue containing a very brief summary of Catalyst because of the numerous new characters in this series. I found that I had forgotten who the new characters were and what their place was in the scheme of things.
Other than that fact, I found the book engaging and the concepts always interesting. There were parts that made me laugh, some that made me cry, and an ending that had me saying OMG! Did that really just happen?
I thought that, before the next release, I would read through Catalyst and Uprising again. I felt that Uprising garnered 4 of 5 stars because of its concept and well-written story.
Uprising is the second book to the alternate Earth series and is a definite must read. This book starts right where the first one ends. Jess, Mason and their friends continue to find a way to stop Lucian and Ravan plans to destroy the lives of the people on alt Earth. While doing so they continue to face unseen challenges that are at time life threatening This book has it all from action humor sadness down to the awesome cliffhanger SJ West has out done herself on this one I can't wait for the next one
Uprising is true Genius the emotion S.J. West brought to her characters in this book is breathtaking, Her characters were able to take you to a whole new level of emotions they came to life like no other author can do.I did not expect the ending to make me gasp from being taken by surprise. This book will truly bring you to a very different place than the others. Great JOb !!!! the next book Judgement is going to be EPIC!!!!!!! This book brought the big Fat tears omg/!
The seals are being opened and causing destruction. They have to find the trumpets before Lucian can blow them to prevent the apocalypse. Jess has to go through some trials to get them. Ravens true identity is revealed and it now seems like they might not be able to stop the events and just witness it. Wow wow wow! Well after reading that ending a need to read the next one right now!!! Just when I though this story couldn't get any better bang! I'm so glad to have seen more of Lucifer in the story! I love reading about Mason and Jess! I hope everything turns out ok with everyone!!! I seriously can't want to read the next one!
I love SJ West's writing! The characters are so well developed, and the continuity between all of the series she's written involving them is flawless, yet she manages to keep you hooked and wanting more with every book! I'm gonna feel like I lost a dear friend when the end of the story for these characters comes!
EXCELLENT !! I love hearing from Jess and Mason :) The whole series in series is spectacular I love all of the characters! Can't wait for Judgement I am anxiously waiting to find out where Jess is !? The ending was mind blowing !
The battle for heaven and earth continue in this book... S.J. West does it a gain, twists and turns especially at the end that I didn't see coming. Love the characters and how they all interest with the story.
