On the day Titus Markava plans to propose, he is horrified to discover that the love of his life is actually a shape-shifting alien man. Before he can recover from the unfortunate news, he is quite literally thrown from Earth onto a completely different world in a completely different solar system. It is a world where a person might conduct himself almost as well as he conducts electricity. It is a world on the brink of an interplanetary conflict. It is a world of dinosoids, insectavores, and even a cyborg or two. It is a world with CNN… just not quite the same CNN we’re used to. Yet even though it is a world where entire planets can be traversed instantly by portals called gates, Titus can’t find even one to take him back home.
Hi, I’m Aaron Rocheleau. I live in West Michigan with my family. I write stories, because exciting adventures are way more fun than call centers and insurance. My stories are fast paced and fun (gotta be able to compete with those newfangled video games, and movies). I like to let your own imagination paint the picture.
When I’m not writing, I’m taking swims in Lake Michigan, playing those newfangled video games, and geocaching, which is like treasure hunting, only safer. My house is perpetually surrounded by free range attack chickens that viciously consume everything in their path. Chickens are nature’s zombies.
Enough about me though, what about you? You’re looking for some fun, right? You should read my books. You’ll like them… but you don’t have to take my word for it.
This book was fast-paced, clever, and enticing. I am attached to all the characters and can't wait to see what happens in book 2! I also appreciated this authors sense of humor. Both in the book and in the videos he made.
First, you should know that I am a mom who likes to read books her teenage son enjoys so that we can talk about the stories because, let's face it, any conversation with a teenage boy can be difficult. My kiddo enjoys sci-fi in the realm of fairies and dragons, mythology, and magic, so we have read a lot of those book series together. This was the first alien series... kind of.... we did read the Lorien series which is alien, I suppose, but still on Earth.
Anyways.
Kaja Star was different, in a good way.
The book opens with an ordinary guy (Titus) getting ready to propose to what he thinks is an ordinary girl (Cherim). As he is preparing the perfect picnic, "she" is preparing the perfect kidnapping to another dimension.
Cherim is more successful in his task than Titus is and before they know it, they are transported to 32Y, the 32nd planet in a different solar system than that of Earth. Titus is greeted by a language he doesn't understand but quickly is rescued by a woman who gives him the power to communicate with others.
Titus has one goal while on his adventure: to go home. On his journey, Titus meets electrically charged friends and enemies turned allies turned friends along the way. They all help him to face the many arena trials that may take him back to Earth, but not in this first book of the series.
Kaja Star: No Place Like Home is an easy read. It will not have you contemplating the meaning of life, but will have you enjoying a good story while keeping you on the edge of your seat as you patiently wait for Aaron Rocheleau to finish writing book 2 to find out how Titus gets out of his current predicament in the depths of yet another planet not in our dimension.

I very much wanted to love this book, but I personally found it hard to figure out what was going on. Truthfully I only made it to page 153 and spent at least 3-4 hours trying to get into the story, but was too confused about the storyline to finish. Hopefully others will enjoy it more than myself.
