This is the third and last book in Swindell’s Castle Library series. If you have not yet read the first two books, Christmas in the Castle Library and Love in the Castle Library, I highly recommend you do. That will introduce you to the wonderful little imagined country of Lethersby, its past and current royal family, and the mysteries that have already been solved.

Book 3 starts up right after the end of Book 2. The two main characters were supporting characters in books 1 and 2, so I enjoyed getting to know Melanie and Eddie better. Swindell does a great job with plot twists (I hit a big one right when I should have gone to bed, and ended up reading until I finished the book!)

There are good insights in finding one’s identity, what it means to truly surrender to Christ, and how grow in one’s relationship with Jesus. I really enjoyed the book and wish there were more (second generation stories??!!).

Swindell has crafted a Christian romance saturated with truth, goodness, and beauty. Her academic researcher protagonists don’t shy away from tough issues of pride and humility, the need to prove their worth, and trusting God’s will for their lives. I adored how Melanie’s quest for beauty and perfection leads her to seek Jesus at her lowest. Readers will relate to Eddie’s desire to do great things for God’s kingdom and his realization that service is the greatest thing he can do for the Lord. As well, readers will enjoy re-immersing themselves in the sumptuous royal setting of Lethersby and revisiting characters from previous books. Finally, the literary and historical references peppering the book, from Shakespeare to Benjamin Franklin, add the perfect touch.

What an incredible story! The characters are wonderful; my affection for them grew with each chapter. This is such an enjoyable tale about the mystery of Queen Alma and the quest to uncover her past secrets. God is woven throughout the story and plays a vital role in the developing romance. I must say, it was so beautifully crafted that it brought me to tears. From start to finish, this story touched every part of me. I read all night until early morning. I couldn't put it down! I definitely plan to read more books by this author.
