Dennis Hopeless' adaptation of a classic X-Men story line and Jarron's crisp and dynamic line art made for a good combination.

In a post-Inferno world, Colossus patrols the borders of a Limbo-infested Manhattan to ensure the demonic infestation everyday, except for one day he gets to attempt a rescue of his sister, Illyana who sits in her citadel in the middle of Limbo. This reader saw a lot of familiar of X-Men in different roles. Truly, this world has gone crazy.

This comic was allot of fun and seems like it is going to work really well as a mini-series that really hasn't had to be tied too strongly into Secret Wars so far.

In it, we have the story of how Colossus made a deal with Cyclops that every day he will patrol the streets fighting crime, every day, but one. On that day, the current X-Men team will form and head into Inferno, seeking Colossus's lost sister.

We see the results of the previous year's attempt, which finally resulted in reaching his sister, but also seeing her morphing to a demon Darkchild who attacks Colossus and a Jabberwocky style demon-dragon that paralyzes Cyclops.

Fast forward to this year's anniversary and we get to see a few of the groupings of x-men by skill type as Colossus makes his way through the facility towards the gathering point. However, once he gets there he is rebuffed by Cyclops who is no longer willing to risk members on a fruitless mission.

However, a few members who are loyal to Colossus and decide to go in anyway. After some early skirmish success, things go down hill quickly as they are overrun and start taking serious damage.

Things go from bad to worse when some new big baddies show up, Goblin Queen and Goblin Prince.

I really found myself enjoying this story and the interesting way it worked with the art. The art was a little more rounded and animated looking than normal, which was funny when mostly dealing with a Hell world with dragons and demons.

I wouldn't have normally thought to go in that direction, but it really worked out well. I wouldn't be shocked if this ends up being one of my favorite stories told during this event.

I apparently really enjoy the darker settings of Secret Wars Battleworld, and this one gets dark. I am anxiously awaiting to find out more of this story.
