From bestselling mystery author Kelly Rey comes the second laugh-out-loud installment in her Jamie Winters Mysteries …

It's clearly a setup, but Jamie's only clue to the real killer's identity is a black SUV parked near the scene of the crime. Desperate and running out of time, Jamie enlists the help of her landlord's eccentric teenaged niece, Maizy, as her unlikely sidekick to help wade through the pool of disgruntled clients, a family with divided loyalties, a creepy ex-boss, and incriminating news reports to find the real killer...before Jamie's future includes a jail cell!

"Move over Stephanie Plum—there's a new girl in town! Jamie Winters is smart, sassy, and laugh-out-loud hilarious. Mix one fun mystery, some fantastic romantic chemistry, and witty quips throughout for a sure-fire winner! Who knew a lawyer's office could be so funny?" ~ Gemma Halliday, New York Times bestselling author
From her first discovery of Nancy Drew, Kelly has had a lifelong love for mystery and tales of things that go bump in the night, especially those with a twist of humor. Through many years of working in the court reporting and closed captioning fields, writing has remained a constant. If she’s not in front of a keyboard, she can be found reading, working out or avoiding housework. She’s a member of Sisters in Crime and lives in the Northeast with her husband and a menagerie of very spoiled pets.
Dorcas Beeber is a Psychic medium with a brash and obnoxious personality. Nevertheless, Beeber ignites Jamie’s psychic bone during a visit to the ambulance chasing law firm. So Jamie makes her first visit and finds Beeber’s body. Dead.
Jamie Winters is a smart, feisty protagonist and she is too easily misled.
Book two sees the introduction of Maizy, as Jamie’s sidekick instead of Curt, the ‘kind of’ beau. It’s unusual for a second book but refreshing.
You will have to suspend belief for this comedy romp because the teenager (Maizy) is dragging the adult (Jamie) by the nose. But with Jamie’s colourful supporting cast, perhaps it’s for the best.
It’s entertaining if plodding in places. And warning this book could put you off playing monopoly.

After reading and enjoying Motion for Murder, I was ready to see what Jamie got involved in next. Thirty-three year old Jamie, works for a law firm in New Jersey. One of the partners, Douglas Heath, "had joined the bar association in the great beyond six months earlier." When Jamie discovers one of the firm's clients-Psychic Dorcas Beeber dead, she wants to solve the murder and avoid being a person of interest. She enlists the help of her landlord Curt's teenage niece-Maizy. As in the first book, Jamie's sister Sherri is still looking for a mate, there is a hint of a romance for Jamie, and the crazies at the law firm carry on as usual. There are many possible murder suspects which keep you wondering until the end. This series has good writing and lots of humor. It's fun to read.
This was funny. Rolling on the floor, laughing out loud funny. And very good. Poor Jamie can't catch a break. She finds the body of a fortune teller, and is swept up in the mess of trying to determine which of the wacky people in the dead mystic's life was responsible for knocking her off. Meanwhile, someone is running a smear campaign, trying to pin the murder on Jamie, and her only help in getting out of the mess is her landlord's 17 year old niece, who has a penchant for cutting school and telling blatant lies in an effort to get information. The lies and the wacky things these two do to wolve the crime are really over the top funny, and the pages turn by themselves as I know I was laughing too hard to do so myself! Read it, and if you don't like it, you probably have no sense of humor.
Great Series! This is a great series; this is the second book in the Jamie Winters Mysteries series by Kelly Rey. Jamie and her boyfriend’s teenage niece Maizy find Dorcas the Psychic murdered by a blow to the head with her crystal ball. When Jamie and Maizy notice a black SUV at the crime scene Maizy starts to look into who was driving the SUV. They determine that if they work together they can find the real killer before they kill someone else. This book has it all great characters, humor, and mystery. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
I thought the premise of this story was ludicrous. The fact that an adult would allow a teenager to lead her around, into dangerous situations, suggest strategies, handle most of the leg work is ridiculous. Jamie allowed this teenager to drive a car without a license, rent a car, ditch school, gather privileged information... just to name a few of the things she permitted and Jamie followed her (Maizy) around as if Maizy was the adult. I didn't find anything cute about their partnership; and the fact that I use the word partnership between a teenager and a supposed adult tells you something about the relationship. Maybe this is a book for kids who want to believe they are super smart and actually in this case Maizy ran rings around Jamie. I didn't like this book!
Fun cozy. Our youthful heroine, who probably knows better, is egged on by her teenaged companion in crime, um...mystery solving. Amusing tale which I almost didn't read because of the psychic. That just added to the humor of the book and not the reality. Did not bother me after all, so glad I didn't let it stop me from enjoying this book. I was provided an ebook by the publisher for my honest review.
This is a wonderfully, funny book and I didn't want to put it down for a moment. Jamie and her 17-year-old "sidekick", Maizy, are at it again and even more funny than usual. I would love having these ladies as my friends!
I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a quick, fun read full of quirky characters that will have you laughing at the antics they get into. There's also a little romance, so something for everyone. A delightful, read for those who enjoy cozy mysteries.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a great mix of mystery and laughter. The situations that Jamie kept finding herself in were laugh out loud funny. The plot had many twists and turns that kept me guessing - and reading - the entire time...I loved it!
Jamie and Maizy are wrapped up in a murder again. Wonderful blend of humor and mystery with a touch of romance thrown in. Cannot wait for the next book. I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Funny yet frustrating. There were plenty of laughs and mystery. And I will admit I was so engrossed into the lives of Jamie and the others, that I did over look the murderer for a bit. Anywhoo overall, I had fun and am excited to read the next installment.
This was a wonderful cozy mystery. It had lots of action in a story that kept you reading. I truly enjoyed the characters sometimes I wanted to roll on the floor because of their crazy antics.
