Betrayed by love in the worst possible way, Leo spends his days alone. About the author

When Mell Eight was in high school, she discovered dragons. Beautiful, wondrous creatures that took her on epic adventures both to faraway lands and on journeys of the heart. Mell wanted to create dragons of her own, so she put pen to paper. Mell Eight is now known for her own soaring dragons, as well as for other wonderful characters dancing across the pages of her books. While she mostly writes paranormal or fantasy stories, she has been seen exploring the real world once or twice.

I was not sure how Mell Eight was going to continue their Wings series, but they did a great job in Cupid’s Flight. In Leo we have a cupid who just wants to be alone, which seems out of character for my conception of a Valentine’s type cupid. Of course his fated love, Hei, brings him out of his shell. Hei is not another cupid and the mystery of what he is is central to the book. I like how the author has no problem with turning cupids into magical beings with many of the same issues we humans have. And it is clear the chosen cupid’s one true love can be anything the author wants. One of my main reasons for reading much of the author’s oeuvre is the stories always have a happy ending. They sometimes use their parallel universe to highlight some of the problems with humanity, but they never bludgeon the reader with it. It’s safe to say I read Mell Eight when I want something to lift my mood. I received an advance review copy of the book, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
