The next installment in the Amazon Best-Selling Shepherd Security Series.
Can starting a relationship during the worst time of your life ever work out? Shepherd Security Operator and Charlie Team Medic, Mike ‘Powder’ Rogers is going to find out.
His roughest mission ever stays with him long after the team returns home. PTSD is real, but he doesn't want the woman he just met to know that he is fighting invisible demons that dominate his thoughts and invade his sleep. Unresolved feelings regarding his grandmother's death also haunt his dreams.
Dr. Lassiter, the team’s mental health professional, has his hands full treating him. And when Rogers does the unthinkable, his new lady love just might check out...permanently.
And that lady, Crystal Conway, is having a run of bad luck. The problem is that she hasn’t connected the dots. Is it cruel to shatter her innocence, or does she need to know she’s possibly being targeted?
this story is realistic, with adult language and content on the way to the HEA. This is book 20 in the Shepherd Security series. Even though the story continues from book to book, each is a stand-alone story and can be read without reading the prior book(s), but they are best enjoyed in order.
Margaret Kay is a wife, a mother of two adult children, a grandmother, a pet lover who makes her own dog food from scratch, and a writer of Military Romance Novels.
Margaret's husband proudly served 8 years in the United States Navy. She's a veteran of more than a few deployments as the spouse who took care of the family while her military member served halfway around the world.
I am an ARC reader for Margaret and this is probably one of my favorites. The story takes place over several months with a slow progression of the relationship between MIke Rogers and Crystal Conway. They meet by chance when he helps her after a trauma and things go from there. Mike has his own demons to deal with and Margaret does a great job of addressing PTSD and how it can affect different people. Mike also has to deal with family expectations and when to trust others with private information. While all of this sounds really serious, the plot also includes a lot of entertainment, steam, and action.
Love all the others but after waiting so long for this one, I was disappointed. I understand the seriousness of PTSD but didn't expect that the book would spend so much time trying educate the reader about it. I read these books for escape and enjoyment. I also felt the ending was weak. Just a very fast wrap up of outstanding issues. Also expected more about the wedding plans and implied issues involving the parents. Sorry but this one is not a winner. Gave it 3 stars because the other books are good and 2 stars didn't seem fair.
Great read! Love that PTSD issues are highlighted. Happy that Mike finally finds someone to share his life with. To see Big Bear on site in mission was phenomenal.
Another fantastic story in a series that keeps you captivated with all of the action going on from the start. You know you've chosen well when it starts from the first pages.
This is a very entertaining book! It is one of my favorites in this series. I love the characters. The story is full of more than one mystery and action and a bit of romance. It is an enjoyable book!!
