(first fan translation reading on 4/9/25) i think with the end of this volume i’m finally coming up on new content????? i think maybe i read one or two more chapters with fan translations but then i’ll officially be into new content bc i haven’t kept up with unofficial translations since then. SO that’s exciting!!!!

this volume is yet another gut punch wrapped up in a warm blanket and i just always have the best time watching these idiots (affectionate) do literally anything. i do wonder (and worry) if actual Plot will start to kick in now that we’ve covered a lot of the emotional backstories of our crew…..but there’s still plenty to dive into with mogari and eugene so i have hope that even with increased plot stuff we’ll still focus on character, which is definitely the highlight of this series for me

Another fun and entertaining outing with Mogari and friends. The group must find a club adviser or risk losing their club status, as well as their Phantom Busters name. They later take Tamon on a surprise birthday party to a rock festival where we learn a little more about him. And of course, the plot thickens with the introduction of an enemy sorcerer who wants to control Mogari and his clan.

These guys are just so chill and happy all the time, and I can't be mad about it. Most adventures wrap up in a chapter, but the volume does end on a cliffhanger as we're left to find out what Mogari's fate will be. Probably the least interesting part about this series is the actual overarching plot, mainly because it plays so low on the storyline. Rather, it's just about fun high school students who happen to exorcise spirits and ghosts.

What a cliff hanger! This volume is moving along the plot of the clan but we also get lots of funny zany moments of these kids being kids and great friends. I love the art still. We get a few new characters and I LOVE their new club sponsor. I think my favorite story was when they helped at the restaurant and we got to see our chonky cat again. This was my favorite volume so far.

This series has been very fast paced so far and enjoyable.I think this is the first volume that the fast pace made it feel disjointed and rushed. There was so much that happened that didn't really feel connected as you read it until the very end. You also didn't get to sit with some of the more impactful moments between the friends, the reader is just immediately shoved into some new scene feeling like whiplash wondering if there were some pages missing. Overall, still like the cliffhanger at the end and look forward to read what comes next.

A lot happened in this volume. First the Phantom Busters club face eviction from their club room, because they don't have a teacher as a club advisor. After a frantic search, they score a temp teacher who is a former exorcist and really cool.

They boys are busy with exorcising too. They are asked to remove a poltergeist from a café and end up working a full shift there. They get paid though, and decide to treat Tamon with tickets to the last concert of his favourite band. He needs cheering up, because the ghost of his mother who's pretty much the only one he talks to decides to move on. But the concert doesn't go the way he expects.

The last story once again takes a dark turn. Rivals of Shishikuno clan make their move to become number one players in the supernatural world and they decide to go through Mogari. The ending is a cliffhanger. I definitely need to read more.

Je crois que je suis tombée amoureuse de cette saga. Je regrette de ne pas avoir acheté les tomes suivants vu ke cliffhanger que je viens juste de me taper. Franchement, j’ai qu’une envie: aller au magasin pour aller chercher la suite direct. Malheureusement je vais devoir attendre. On a encore eu une back story émouvante et je trouve de plus en plus que ce groupe de potes est attachant et adorable. Ils vont tellement bien ensemble, c’est dingue. Ils sont concon mais qu’est ce que je les aime. J’adorerais être pote avec.

Honestly, I wanted this volume to feature Tamon a bit more than it did, but it was still a fun time! Clearly there is a larger story brewing, but I do wish the pacing would slow down a bit. It just ends up feeling pretty disjointed. I'm a big fan of Noir (as a concept) so I didn't mind so much, just a bit sad that we didn't delve into Tamon's backstory a bit more, because it seemed really interesting? Who knows. Yeah, I guess overall I wish that each arc got more time to settle into itself.

My favorite volume so far. Mr. Noir is so funny and cool. His design reminds me slightly of Noe from The Case Study of Vanitas.

Tamon's backstory is very intriguing. I want to know more about his mom and what happened to her.

That cliffhanger was cruel 😭 but it leaves me excited to read the next volume once it comes out in October.

Holy clif hanger! What is going to happen to Mogari?! Also the festival scene was pretty cool. Seeing Tamon get to play in his favorite band was pretty awesome. and his friends were there to help him be able to not throw up, even if they didn’t know it was actually him.

This volume serves as the transition between a mostly lighthearted story about high school phantom busters to a more serious struggle between the boys and some dangerous enemies. As always, it was incredibly well done and extremely entertaining. I can’t wait for Vol.5.
