Chastity, the classic Chaos! Comics character, returns... reimagined and ready for blood! After a career-ending injury shatters her Olympic dreams, seventeen year-old Chastity Marks finds an escape in Alyce Stonecliff's popular series of vampire novels. Little does she know, however, that the books conceal a secret underworld of blood, agony, and death... one that she will be dragged into, kicking and screaming! Falling victim to the author's seductive charm, drawing the attention of the enigmatic Council, and discovering a tragedy at her own doorstep, will Chastity survive the coming darkness? And even if she does, will she remain human, become a vampire, or evolve into something new and even more fearsome?
A good place to begin if you want to start the Chastity series. Chastity is a young punk girl who gets transformed into a vampire after failing as a gymnast (due to injury). It's a fun dark urban fantasy/horror series and Chastity is a sexy fun protagonist that is up there with Cassie Hack for all time favorites. If you enjoy horror comics and vampires as well as the Goth look then this is definitely up your alley.
Dynamite Entertainment´s reboot of Chastity. It´s ok, Chastity is one character you con´t mess up, she´s far too down to earth reality for that. Either as a music nerd/ stage actress in Chaos!verse or book nerd in Dynamite E., Chas is Chas just with a different backstory. And that´s what I like about her.
Ummm. Art on the cover. Wonderful. Art in the book… second rate. A hybrid vampire? Hmmm I’ve heard this one hold on let me guess. BLADE. Come on this isn’t original. You can do better.
Dynamite reboot and revamp of Chaos Comics really hits home here. Marc Andreyko's take on Chastity almost completely re-imagines her origins. The dialogue is crisp and breezy, and the plots are easy to follow. Yet, the cheese-cake and ultra-violence still seem to be the end of onto itself. Enjoyable but not particularly deep
I enjoyed this volume more than the previous two Dynamite Chaos series I've read (Chaos and Alice Cooper Vs Chaos.) This series shows the origin of the sexy half human/half vampire Chastity. She eventually becomes a vampire slayer, but in this story she's just a human girl who's turned into a hybrid by an evil vampire.
Ironically, the evil vampire is an author of vampire romance novels who happens to be a real vampire. There's also a vampire council involved, Chastity's vampiric little brother and a werewolf cop. The art is really sexy as well.
If you like strong female characters, the Chaos Universe has several and Chastity was always my personal favorite, even though Lady Death was always the most popular. For those of you familiar with the Chaos universe, you'll probably like this as it seems to really capture the flavor of the old series.
This comic is the origin story of Chastity the vampire hunter who has vampire powers. The story is mediocre, the artwork is the same (the covers are from a different artist), only the internal monologues are sometimes fun. There's no reading between the lines here, just action.
Chastity Marks's mom hoped that her daughter would follow in her footsteps and become a pro athlete. An accident put an end to that, as well as to her relationship with her mom. Chastity dives into books and discovers the works of Alyce Stonecliff, a writer of vampire fiction. After a book signing, Chastity meets Alyce in private and is almost killed - Alyce is a blood-sucking vampire. Chastity runs home, but Alyce follows her and kills her whole family, leaving Chastity for dead.
Compendium of first few issues regarding evil vamp author of wildly successful vampire book series. Not as nuanced as Bettie Page or Vampire books but pretty good revenge saga with strong illustrative style and fast paced action. Good comic ride.
Apparently this is a reboot of a series. A teenage girl gets viciously attacked by her idol, a vampire, but she manages to escape. And turns into a ... hybrid. A lot of blood will be spilled. Not very original and the artwork is okayish at best, but it was an enjoyable read.
I loved Chastity from her first book, I really like this new look for her. This new background for her turned out rather well, and I enjoyed the story line it's just to bad it ended at 6 and didn't continue.
Fun read. But didn’t pack that much of a punch like I hoped. Also didn’t get enough of her personality or anything in depth about the character. The action scenes were good but a bit rushed.
With all due respect to Chastity original creator Brian Pulido this new origin story written by Marc Andreyko and illustrated by Dave Acosta and Thiago Riberio is better. The story is interesting and action packed.
Dynamite Entertainment continues to keep alive characters originating in the old Chaos Comics. Chastity: Life/Death serves as an introduction to a young woman turned vampire by a bloodthirsty author of, yep, vampire novels. Very good storyline and art. Highly recommended.
