Sigh now we have to wait for the next book in the series. Anybody who’s followed this author already knows the type of work he does and I have to be honest every series he’s written I am an absolute fan of. In this book will get more of the same, which is a great thing. The MC grows we see new magic. We meet new characters. I’ll be honest I do wish time flowed a bit faster, but things are moving along. One of my favorite authors one of my favorite pieces of work you’re gonna enjoy it and you’re going to wish there was more to read afterwards. Dive in and enjoy.

As I stated above your work, I just love it. I can’t name a series of yours that I haven’t read. This does remind me a bit of Hylis family I know I spelled that wrong but still I’m loving it. I do wish time would flow a bit faster now I mean he’s been 16 for all these books I believe. Seeing a new magic new techniques but it’s like time hasn’t really gone very far. You know it’s been weeks maybe months not years. It was cute to see Mom and her boo thing go on vacation. It’s also nice to see potential new uses of magic being discovered. Telekinesis for example or the new bouncy thing from the tingly fingers. Can’t wait to see what that rolls into. Perhaps what I’m really interested in is where the story goes now I have no idea. At the end of the last book I knew OK it’s gonna be about jumping, but this book the villain, if you will was taken out so early on, I had no idea what this was gonna be about. Definitely have no idea what the next book is gonna be about and that is so exciting. Can’t wait for the next book in this series. Can’t wait for the next book in some of the other series that I am not sure if they’re still ongoing or not. Run for example I don’t know if that’s a live or what. Either way I’m following. Can’t wait for what’s next.

Fight scenes need work

Maybe avoid fights or work on them more?

I've noticed this in other fantasy works from this author, but his characters tend to slow down and get un-helpfull tunnel vision during fights. They fail to realize the dozens of solutions before them. Even if they've done that same thing before multiple times, they just don't see it. Like they loose a few IQ points for the fight.

This IS realistic and understandable to some extent. Even experienced fighters tend to loose creativity in a fight. They snap to what they know, and make quick, short, snappy (hopefully) decisions. But these characters go beyond this.

--MINOR SPOILER--

In this book, Ky has fought and even killed men before. Yet he appears to fumble durring the fight, as if he's never done it before. He works medicine all the time (plenty of ideas that would lend) and he's blocked breathing a bunch (it's practically his signiture move). I believe he's even the character who unmended arm bones before a fight (I could be mistaken. Other MC's are similiar). He knew the fight was coming both long term AND short term. No surprise.

Yet he fumbles. He doesn't use knew improved ideas or old tried and true ones. He behaves as if he's almost surprised he won when he finally, finally did SOMETHING completely new and unexpected. (As amusing as that death was for the wrotten man.)

It just doesn't feel like it fits the characters' current competence, experience, and awareness.

Soooooooo friggintastic, you hafta grab it to enjoy it!

Man what a great ending! I love Ky Vaux as he leads his family's mercantile to greater riches he ups the anti. Strengthening them, making their magic stronger work faster than ever. Inorder to keep their business solvent. Being able to make products faster, they will sell more, invent more and keep buyers satisfied. And wow I haven't even talked about Ky's ability to heal and I love Healers or his ability to Jump. His Jump is on a whole new level. There's som'min about a slice-of-life adventure that even cozy that makes me happy!
So yeah AwesomeSauce, grab this book and enjoy. You don't hafta take my word for it as there's other reviews to view...

A great addition to the series

I really enjoy reading this series. The characters, storyline, dialogue all wonderful storytelling rolled into a series I enjoy reading, look forward to next book. Actually I now look forward to any book that comes out by Laurence Dahners. He has become a go to author for anything he writes. A consistent writer of quality storytelling. If you read the overview and find it interesting then you can’t go wrong to purchase and read!!!

Good read, some shortcomings

Pretty standard Dahners fare. Excellent writing, fun characters, etc. some solutions were stretched to fit jumping. Small stones could be unmended to powder, etc. The early faceoff with Pike was nonsensical and needs a complete rewrite. Kyle and everyone else apparently forgot all his previous AND new abilities despite weeks to plan. I almost couldn’t continue the book it was so bad. Once I got over it the rest was fine though

fantastic series.

I absolutely love the series and cannot wait on next book even though when it does come out, I finish it in less than a day of reading. I take my head off to a Laurence Dahners. You are absolutely genius when it comes to writing and you make my days so much better.

I really like the situations the characters get into with the resolution without too much drama. I look forward to the next story whichever of his story arcs he chooses.

Better and better!

KY faces challenges, learns new things, continues to make the lives of those around him better.......and better😁. If you're wondering if you should read this, the answer is yes, unless you haven't read the first books in the series starting with "Mender Magic"!

Another Simple Magic Joint!

Just so you understand my dear Dahners, I for one thoroughly enjoy your stories. Please, please keep them coming & failing that, contract the characters out to other authors because it is a painful wait between stories!

Ky's skills continue to evolve as he expands his practices and access. This confounds and confuses the current mage hierarchy.

Enjoyable

A pleasant story of immensely powerful mage with apprentice knowledge of healing in a feudal society. Worth reading. Although I find this author a little to idealistic.
