Wolfe Island - I'd pay big bucks to see these guys walking around...
Derrick Wolfe is the Alpha of his pack and owner of Wolfe Island, an exclusive resort catering to the rich. He and his pack run the resort which also gives them a sanctuary to be their natural selves...wolf shifters. Derrick has lived a very long time without ever finding a human woman he is attracted to enough to make his mate. Angelica is a lonely and quiet woman who has come to the island feeling hopeless. She loves to sit and look at the ocean for hours at a time. Derrick sees her and spends time with her quietly sharing the peace and beauty. They both feel an attraction to each other though Angelica thinks it's all one sided while Derrick thinks there is no future for him and this female. One night Angelica is badly hurt and their lives are changed forever by the decision Derrick makes.
This story is about a love that forms, trust that grows and strengths that develop. This pack is a loving family who are there for each other. Angelica, unfamiliar with this kind of support doesn't know how to handle it and thinks she is not good enough for them.
We are told an interesting story about these shifters with some danger and evil at their door. These wolves fight for their lives and their secrets to stay intact. I enjoyed this story and I hope Avelyn McCrae will give us more of their world.

Well.. Low 3 Stars for me.
The second half of this book was MUCH better than the first half. Though not really by much, at least it kept me from DNFing the book entirely, though.
Mainly, there was just really no real passion here for me. Between the MC's or the overall surrounding plot. Everything was given to you here in quick doses that barely skimmed the surface for me. When it comes to Paranormal, I expect deep, all consuming everything, within the story.
Unfortunately, I just didn't get that here like I was hoping I would.

Such a beautiful story of love and family bonds, Angelica and Derrick together, something just clicked with them, not much talking, a lot of watching on his part when he sees tragedy happening to her, his alpha wolf bond kicks in and saved her, his pack has saved her, there's something special about Angelica, I'm loving the shifter stories more and this was a great one, , Dana

Wow love this book and hope their will be more this from this book, because it didn't feel like it was finished. Would highly recommend to other readers.

Engaging storyline
No plot spoilers
No potential triggers
There are some errors but nothing to get irritated about.
There are a couple of sex scenes and I don't recall any swearing.
The characterisation is okay, enough to form a connection and keep you turning the pages.
The plotline is actually good, with a longer book it could have been expanded and developed further, as it is there are unanswered questions which leaves the reader feeling slightly dissatisfied.
The syntax is a bit odd, with the lupine characters being hundreds of years old there is an oddly formal pattern of speech and thought but what makes it truly weird is the 25 year old human doing the same right from the first page.
It's the mating trope again so the actual romance is minimal but on the whole it's nicely written and fans of the genre would probably enjoy the book

Black Wolfe's Mate is a spectacular paranormal romance by Avelyn McCrae. Ms. McCrae has penned a book that is well-written and populated with a fantastic cast of characters. Derrick is a wolf shifter and owner of the island where Angelica was visiting a resort for a brief time. Derrick and Angelica's story is packed with drama, humor, spice, action and suspense. I enjoyed this shifter book way more than others I've read. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.

Fun and enjoyable
So far, the three stories I have read by this author are well written and enjoyable. Shifters or vampires, the characters are unique and well crafted. The world rules vary slightly from others in these genres but are relatable. The only problem for me is that they are too short. Each story has been only about 100 pages. You just get settled in and the story ends.

Leaves you howling for more
Loved this story and I want more of the Wolfe Island Wolves. Great story building and the secondary characters are great. I would love their stories as well.

On the Edge of my Seat
I was so worried that I had to put it down and walk away from this book. I came back an hour later kept my xool and finished it. What a story had me filled with angst and so happy for them in the end! 🌹♥️

Really enjoyed this quick PNR read. Great characters, interesting storyline and good flow make this a must read for any paranormal fan.

Angelica Xanthopoulous sells everything she owns and visits the island. Angelica is a loner and likes to sit out on the rocks and watch the ocean. Derrick is drawn to this human woman, he tries to stay away from her, but something just keeps him returning for more of her silent innocence.
Angelica is so different, almost invisible to everyone who comes into contact with her, except to Derrick, Derrick notices everything about her.

This book is about a pack who owns and operates an island with a resort. The pack are mostly male and the story centers around the alpha and his main soldiers. The alpha notices a visitor one day while she is sitting on a rock overlooking the ocean. He soon becomes fixated on her to the point that he knows her routine and notices when she varies from it. He becomes worried when he can't find her until a storm is fast approaching, he finds her out on the rock in the path of the storm. He tries to make it to her before the storm hits but is too late. He pulls her battered body out of the water and takes her back to the resort to his own apartments. They have a physician on staff but he can't save her. It is at this point that the alpha decides he can't live without her and decides to turn her into a were. From there on the story picks up speed and the reader learns how their lives change...until the day she is taken for a mad scientist who experiments on werewolves. The story moves quite quickly and the reader is on tenterhooks until the end.

When the quiet and unnoticeable Angelica arrives at this exclusive island resort, Derrick Wolfe can't explain why this solitary young woman grabs his attention, he soon finds out why there's a sadness that clings to her and events unfold that change both their lives.
This story straight away draws you in and makes you curious about Angelica and has very lovable secondary characters that I want to know more about, there were a few hints at the backgrounds of some of the others so I'm hoping if there isn't already more books in this series then there will be soon ? especially about Lachlan !

Well… Wow!
I was pleasantly surprised that I liked a shifter romance . But I did ! Totally out of my normal realm of reading material I gave it a try and love the romance and all of the action . It was not strange or weird but it was a beautiful romance woven beautifully with all of the characters interaction . Give it a try !

Great book
Enjoyed it. Some things were slow to go but it came around. Would enjoy books for all the characters. Hopefully the author will read this review!
