Arriving at the new government bunker, things quickly go from bad to worse. I am separated from Finn and my family because of my ability to connect with Arvies through telepathy. Housed with three other Readers—and kept away from the general population—we are given serum injections in effort to enhance our thought transference. The end goal? Thought manipulation.

We are considered humanity’s only hope in the war against the Arvy race.

With the ever growing threat of an invasion, the government demands results from the Reader program by doling out ultimatums, and using our loved ones against us.

But they will not break me.

My name is Abigail Park. I am intransigent.

Holy long john silvers batman! She did it again. Cameo had me at the edge of seat, falling in love with Abbi and Finn all over again. Then it ends, not in a cliffhanger exactly. But it might as well be. You're killing me smalls.

This book was probably my least favorite book in this series. This book was missing the page turning action that the other books had. I felt like this was just a filler book. I thought it was slow moving. I enjoyed seeing Abi learn more about her powers in this book. That was extremely interesting, but I wish the book had been about more than just that. The romance was cute in this book, but I wish their was more of it. This book was just lacking the romance and action that the previous books had. I will continue to read this series because I want to see how the series developed. Overall, I liked this book. However, it wasn't as good as I was hoping or expecting. Cameo is a great writer, and I know that her next book will be great and extremely interesting. I still love this series, but this book definitely was my least favorite.

When I originally bought this book I told myself that I would wait before I would read it but I couldn't wait and soon I went into my normal routine where I walk around the house holding my kindle without a care for anything else.
I was gripped.
Each book completely outdoes the one before it and this one was no exception.
The book picks up from where the last one left off. Abi is rescued and taken to another safe location.
In the previous book it showed that when she got too close to the Arvies she was able to communicate with them but it would result in her getting nosebleeds and passing out. This book goes into more depth as to why.
I think the fact that it also mentions a little something from the past that gives both Abi and the reader hope.
This series is definitely a must read and I can't wait until the next one.

Cameo Renae knows what young adults want to read, and she also knows exactly how to write it for them. Without fail. Of course I am not a young adult, but I have read every book this author has ever published. And enjoyed them all. The main thing to keep in mind is that it’s a dystopian read and that does involve some violence, although this book had a lot less than the others, at least I thought so.

Abi and her family and fiance, Finn, have escaped to a new bunker, only this time she has a new found power-telepathy. Only it’s not just telepathy with other people, it’s with the Arvi’s. Arvi’s are mutated people that were given a serum to try and counteract the effects of radiation poisioning. Yes, it saved them, but it also made them blood thirsty monsters. Small groups of people have survived underground for years and years(thirteen years in Abi’s case) before coming topside-and into a nightmare. Now people are banding together in bunkers where the rules are strict, and the people are not necessarily treated well.

So now Abi has a gift that the leaders of the new bunker want to exploit against the Arvi’s. Only they are in a hurry so they decide to use a serum to enhance her capabilities. They are also using it on twins-Chase and Chloe, also teenagers that have lived there longer. After Abi starts the drug, things get really interesting to say the least.

This is still my favorite of this author’s series, although I really loved her Hidden Wings series. Abi is such a strong character and Finn seems just as strong. The two have been through hell and back on many occasions since leaving their underground home. Abi and her gun, Hell Fire, are a force to reckoned with, and now that she can interact with the Arvi’s, things just got worse than ever. In addition, to these two characters, her parents are back, along with many more of her relatives and of course Dr. Banks, the medical doctor of the group and Abi’s friend. Abi also befriends the twins Chase and Chloe and I enjoyed that relationship as well, and it added to the overall story.Of course as always, besides the Arvi’s, the villains are the leaders of the bunker.

If I had one minor problem with this book it would be that I am used to a lot more action in this series, and this one didn’t have as many of those exciting moments up against the Arvies. Don’t get me wrong, there absolutely are some of those moments, but I am just used to more. The reason for this, is because it mainly takes place in the new bunker and the Arvies for the most part are outside the bunker. The ones inside the bunker do make for some of the more exciting parts of the story however. There’s also plenty of bunker excitement and not necessarily in a good way. And having said all that, I am excited the direction the story is heading and I know there is lots more to look forward to in this story. I am hoping to see Abi and Finn find their way to safety eventually and get their happily ever after as well.

So, good dystopian premise, fantastic characters, and great romance-this book has all that. It was less than a one day read for me because it is a total page turner. By now the characters are like old friends and I am just catching up with all of them while reading-always a good thing!

I recommend it to all older young adult readers of science fiction romances, or just exciting romances. I also would recommend to adults that just enjoy a good read.

Just a heads up, these should be read in order.(PureTextuality.com)4.5/5 stars

The third book in the After Light saga and a much awaited one. After the first two stories it was hard to see where Cameo Renae would take this third tale and continuation of Abi's fight against the Arvies.
I am pleased to say the book exceeded all my expectations. Abi finds herself once again separated from Finn and her family. Once more she faces a new threat and danger. The reader is kept on pins and needles waiting to find out what Abi's ability means for the human race. We feel Abi's confusion and anxiety at her new situation. We dont know who to trust, what the agendas are or what the outcomes will be.
We know Abi as a fighter. We expect her to have Hellfire in her hand and be kicking monster butt... but there are no real Arvy threats. This doesn't mean that Abi doesn't fight. Far from it. ABI battles harder in Intransigent than ever before because this time the threats are in her mind. Literally. An awesome read. Can't wait for the next book!

4.5 stars!

I love this series and I couldn't wait to read this book! I did go and re-read the first two books in the series before I sat down to read this one, but it was mainly so that I remembered everything that had happened and to remember where the second book ended! As much as I enjoyed this book, I do have to admit that it may be my least favourite of the series! I mean absolutely no offence to the author, who is freaking amazing, by saying that, but there just wasn't a lot of interaction between the main character and her love interest, which made me really sad because I'm a lover of the main character and her love interest, so I was really upset that there wasn't a lot of interaction between them! I would know this if I had read the synopsis before reading, but I didn't lol, so I went into this book blind! This book was still amazing though! The plot developed at a fast pace and I actually had to slow down while I was reading it lol! So much happened in it and it immersed me and made me want to find out what was going to happen next! I just loved it and the romance was seriously cute! The characters were again amazing! Abigail 'Abi' was again the main character, and in this book she was again pusher from pillar to post, and she really didn't know what was going on! She arrived at a new bunker with her family and loved ones that was run by new people, so she didn't know who to trust! I felt really sorry for Abi in this book because she was treated like a lab rat, but she discovered the true extent of her power in this book, and that was both amazing, but frightening at the same time! Abi faced a lot of difficulty in this book, but she was strong and she did what she had to do to protect herself and the people she loved! I admired her a lot in this book! Finn was again the love interest of Abi, and he wasn't in this book a lot until near the end! This made me very sad because as I said above, I love Abi and Finn together, so for them to be apart for most of the book was unexpected and left me slightly upset lol! When Finn was in this book though, he was the sweet, hot, caring guy that I loved! I again loved him when he was in this book, and he was the main thing that kept Abi going, which was very important considering the situation they were in! Finn was again just head-over-heels in love with Abi in this book! I could see that he wouldn't let her do anything by herself and that he would be with her every step of the way! I can't wait to read the next book in this series! I loved this book and it continued on the characters story very well! The ending of this book was also left at the perfect place, but I'm going to be on pins and needles for the next book lol! And I mean serious pins and needles lol! I can't wait for it to release, even though it may be the final book in the series! This makes me sad because I love this series so much! The cover for this book is amazing! It suits the other books covers perfectly, and just looks kick-ass! I completely love it!

In Transition And Stronger Than Ever! . . .

This third installment is amazing and thrilling as readers continue to be engaged in the saga of Abi's fight for not only survival but a place to call home. Cameo Renae has built an epic dystopian world where the earth is destroyed and being ravaged by inhuman beings, but it's the humans trying to survive that are the real "creatures" of story who bring emotions that make you cry, laugh, hold your breath and say a prayer hoping they all make it through.

Having narrowly escaped Sanctum and losing a few good men including a dear friend. Abi is happy to be reunited with her father, but is extremely hesitant concerning the new government bunker they will be heading into. When Abi mentions her moment of connection with the Arvies, the soldiers flag her as a Reader. Abi is set apart in a special program designed by the bunker leaders to have those with power of telepathy trained to use their power over the Arvies. The Readers in this new bunker are a small group, and Abi is by far the strongest. Abi wants nothing more than her dream of finding a piece of land and living her life with Finn and her family. However, with the Arvies outnumbering the humans the bunker leaders begin pushing the Readers. Secrets and deceit become apparent to Abi and she finds herself having to do what she must to save those she loves and gets them to safety, because the safety of the bunker may not be what it promised.

Overall, Abi is crazy strong! This story was all about her and how she needed to become something more to save herself and her loved ones. The last two books, mainly the last book, seemed to be centered on Abi and Finn, but this book was focused mainly on Abi and how she is changing, figuratively and literally. Abi is a different girl from anyone who would read these novels, but having her find strength through her fears is something readers can admire and connect with. I seriously can't wait for the next book (or books) to see how it all plays out, because it must have an ending and a good one at that, I just couldn't take anymore heartbreak if anyone *cough Finn, weren't to survive.

I had a few favorite young adult books and authors I read when I was a teen, and whom I still read now. Most of those wrote fantastical, unrealistic fiction. I tried reading the popular YA books out today (I don't need to name them, you all know which ones I'm talking about) but I found that they fell short somewhere, be it in emotional tones, excitement or even in plot.
This is the book teens (and adults) should be reading. The plot, the easy continuity from the previous book, the characters and the general feel of the book are wonderful. I stayed up late just to finish it!
Abigail is a delight to read about. She's sweet, smart and can kick butt with the best of them. She has amazing and troublesome mental abilities, but she can also handle a gun with ease that few YA girls have ever shown. She has fear, and she has doubts, but she never lets them get her down for long. She has amazing determination, great love and strength. Young girls can really look up to her.
The minor characters are also people you come to know and care about, and you are never sure just who to like and trust. Things in this book aren't always what they seem, and the reader will be swept along in the excitement just like Abi is.
Her relationship with Finn is very minimal, it is definitely not the main part of the story, which I loved. The last thing we need is a great dystopian novel ruined by too much mush. Cameo keeps things light with the romance, but heavy with the emotion. You are inside Abi's mind in this book, so her feelings really resonate with the reader.
The Arvies, the mutants, are sort of left to the imagination in terms of looks, which I also love. It gets the readers' minds working. As does the uncertainty of who Abi can and cannot trust. There are twists and turns right up to the very end.
A wonderful book I will reread again in my spare time.

Copy gifted by the author in exchange for an honest review.

What can I say? WOW! Cameo just gets better and better with her story. Her writing improved so much that it's even harder to put the book down! I had trouble to stay awake today at work, because I pulled almost a full nighter! But it was SO worth it! The book is simply amazing!

The story is so much more than what I thought at the beginning! With Abi's new abilities, the new government want to use her to control the Arvies. After Abi is starting to get the newly found injections, things are getting so interested and there is so much more action! It kept me on my toes all the time!

The feelings between Abi and Finn is even stronger than what it was before, even though they were separated. I love that about them. They know that they are perfect for each other and are fighting to be together, but at the same time they don't forget their responsibilities, so it doesn't feel like a teenager crush, but a full blown love. Simply as that.

But the best thing here? The best thing in this part is the description of how Abi is growing, maturing and becoming a strong, responsible young woman.

The new characters, the twins are also a vital part of the book and a part of the programme "Reader", Abi befriends them. After all the conspiracy, secrets and everything that is ugly is revealed Abi finds the strength in her to lead her lead her loved one to safety and to finally find a place for them to be happy.

I can't wait for the next part(s) of the series and how everything will play out.

Another 5 stars!

I devoured all 3 books in less then 24 hrs. I got lost in these books, when a writer can create a story to which no matter your age, you can get lost in your imagination and the real world falls away, that is a WRITER and Cameo Renae did just that with this series. Does anyone know if there will be more?

I loved the first two books in this series and was so excited to get into this one. There was a promise of something more in this story, and boy did the author deliver.

There are books which, in the past, have kicked it up a gear from previous ones. This book didn't just kick it up a gear, it kicked it up a whole lot of gears!

What you thought you knew from the last book is only the start of what Abigail, her family and friends, will go through. Abigail has a gift, one which the government will stop at nothing to use against the arvies. They use methods which will shock the reader. But what are the risks to Abigail and the other readers? Will they emerge unscathed? Have the government underestimated the risks to not only Abigail, but everyone else around her?

Abigail discovers she has powers which go far beyond what she could ever have imagined. She also finds it difficult to work out who to trust, who is going behind her back, and who is a true friend to her. What she goes through would seriously damage any normal person.

I loved this book and can't wait to see how the author continues the story.

Just WOW! I went into book 3 with so much excitement and the idea that this would be the last book in the series, and was ecstatic to find that this is not the end! We get MORE of this awesome series!
My heart breaks for Abi, she has already gone through so much and seen things straight from her nightmares. People should be the ones she can trust, but that just doesn't seem to be the case. People always have an agenda and are willing to use anyone and do anything to have the power and fulfill their goals. And the goal here is to stop the arvies, which is what Abi wants too, but there seems to be a catch, and Abi has instincts that are always right on point. But humanity is not lost, there will always be good people willing to fight for what is right. We get to meet new characters that are just so fun and awesome, and see a side of humanity that is beautiful and inspire hope, but also a side that is just plain frightening. This is one fast paced adventure and I am on the edge of my seat for book 4!

This saga just became awesome on a whole new level. Renae’s focus on Abi’s abilities and strengths creates a story all its own. At its heart is the accelerated growth of Abi’s telepathy and powers, and her new friendships with the other “Readers” in the program.

Intransigent delivers action and excitement. It brings new characters to life while never leaving the favorite characters behind. The continued story of Abi and Finn is always both heartwarming and bittersweet. As always, her family provides Abi’s strength while being her greatest weakness.

Renae ends this book with solemn questions hanging in the air. What will Abi do next? What will be the fallout when she chooses?

This book is a definite page-turner and a must-read. If you have not already started this series, now is the time.

WOOHOOO!!! WHAT AN AWESOME READ!!!! HELLFIRE RETURNS!!!!!!!!!! Cameo out did herself in this one. WOW To see Abi tested to the limits! Abi being reunited with her family!! Abi was separated away from her family in the new bunker cause she was known as a "reader"!! Her,Chase and Chloe are teenagers and being used as lab rats cause the government is trying to find ways to beat/kill the Arvies. Well can the government find hope with Abi now in the mix? Or does it backfire and they get invaded by the Arvies? Cameo did an amazing job with this story. I couldn't put the book down. Can't wait for more.

I truly love The After Light Saga books I can't wait for the next one and yes I do believe there will be a next one due to the ending of this one. As always we leave off where book 2 ends and they soon find themselves in another bunker. Seems this bunker is much more corrupt thanks to the government and scientist that take such an interest in being able to communicate with the "monsters"

Won't give anything away but all I can say is freaking what a ride! Love these characters and how they love each other and support them. They truly are a family. You won't regret getting sucked in this series. The wait of the next one may drive me crazy though lol. Highly recommend

I need more! Abi and her family are attempting to find their place in the world, and then BAM Cameo Renae throws a curve ball at you with this one!
I am more and more in awe of the writing and I simply couldn't get enough! When I got to the end of the book I was in serious book hangover mode!
Abi develops some interesting talents that make her a hot commodity to the government. Now she and Finn are having to fight not only the enemy without but also the enemy within!
They meet some new friend and make some amazing getaways!!
I am counting the days until the next book is released!!!

Like all of Cameo's books, this is an addictive read. I devoured it in 2 sittings. It's hard not to. I loved the storyline covering the government's Reader program. Poor Abi, I wondered how she would pull through, but I knew she would. And the part with Finn and the Arvies.... Shudders. You will have to read it to find out what happens. And let me just say, Regina's work on the cover is flawless as always! Well done!

It was another great installment to the Afterlight Saga. Abi and the gang fled their last bunker for another bigger government bunker. Abi was scared at first but ended up adjusting..comes to find out she's a reader. And ends up being in a special program..scientists are trying to figure out how to use her gift to defeat the arvies.

We pick up where we left off at the end of Sanctum, the family are reunited in the last helicopter transport and are heading towards the Government bunker. Abi is happy to be back in the arms of her family and everything is set to be ok! However, a throwaway comment by Abi about her ability to hear the Arvies, is her undoing. The government bunker has been searching for people just like her to become part of their “Reader Programme” and the pilot immediately calls in with a success story that a Reader has been found. Once at the bunker she finds herself forced away from her family and Finn and placed into segregation with other the readers with only weekly contact allowed with those she loves if she’s lucky. Twins Chloe and Chase and a Dr Simon are the only other readers who have been found and it’s immediately apparent that their abilities are far weaker than Abi’s. The Reader Programme however, is soon found to be nothing short of human drug trials which Abi is unable to escape from. Abi finds herself surrounded by lies and is challenged by her own instinct as to who she can trust. She must keep her head though as to upset the balance through failure to comply with the rules, will lead to ejection from the bunker and her labelled Intransigent. However when the drug trials open her mind to a level no one could ever have imagined, will she ever be able to leave?

The cinematic quality of this series continues and again I was left imagining it as a movie as the pages turned. Intransigent though is the most insular section of the series so far but it loses nothing for it. The story is almost entirely within the science department of the bunker, but this works well as it helps to give you a sense of Abi’s isolation from her family and friends. By not showing their part of the story it adds extra depth to the read as whilst you are along for the ride with Abi, you are still left wondering what life must be like outside in the main area with the others. How are they being treated? What are they doing? It is a complete page turner and every chapter is brimming with information and activity and things move quickly as Abi’s treatment pushes her to the limit far more speedily than with any other reader so far. The climactic points are major with real wow moments, and the story goes in a darker direction that I wasn’t expecting, but loved nevertheless!

It’s no surprise that I loved this book, the first 2 were 5 star reads for me and this did not disappoint, in fact I think i’m going to have to start Hostile straight away!

‘Intransigent’ has got to be the weakest book of the series so far. My reaction is one massive eye roll. I had high hopes that the writing and plot would grow and develop through this series, but it seem not to be the case. The best reprieve is that these novels are short and can be completed in half a day.

I still love the concept, though the story took a direction that really didn't interest me. A new batch of characters were introduced, but they felt generic and two dimensional. I’ve been wanting for this series to start getting meatier, delve into character development, mythology, a more complex plot because we have already done all the world building and got to know the main characters… none of that happened. The writing in this series has been taking a slow nose dive since the debut.

I'm caring less and less about protagonist Abi and her fiancé Flynn - as a couple and as characters. The only reason I'm continuing with this series is because of my incessant curiosity, and bloody O.C.D. There's only two novels left to wrap things up, so we'll see how it all goes and if Cameo can redeem herself.

At this point I'd only recommend you give this collection a hard pass. The writing and characterization feels immature and underdeveloped. It is very predictable and has about every tired YA trope you can think of.

*voluntarily and honestly reviewed the ARC I received from Lady Amber's PR*

Whooaa. Okay so one of the things I absolutely love about a book/series is seeing the settings change, whether it's the physical setting or a genre change/addition. In this case, it's both. We went from a Dystopian world that a small family has to survive in to get from one safe place to another. And then it slowly changed, adding powers like telepathy, and now it's become a zombie/apo-themed world where one person has the power to deal with all of them... if the Government doesn't kill her first.

Things have escalated sooo quickly and I couldn't be happier. The previous installment was sweet and pretty cool, definitely something you know will be important in the long run, but I'm glad things have occurred the way they did. It's more intense, more exciting and a lot more death will ensue.... I can't wait to read the fourth book.
