Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
The Summer We Crave is the second book in the Summer of Secrets series. While it can technically be read as a standalone since it focuses on a different couple from book 1, the timelines of the two stories overlap, so I’d recommend reading the books in order.
This was such a spicy and intriguing read! The dad’s best friend forbidden-romance setup gave the story an interesting spin without ever descending into creepy territory. There is an age gap, but it’s not really a focus of the story, and I thought both MCs were well portrayed—not only in their differences, but also in the things they have in common.
Spice is very much a central part of the story, driving both the plot and the romance. There’s some kink exploration and a few unusual scenes that kept things interesting and prevented the spicy moments from feeling repetitive.
One thing that left me a bit perplexed, though, was the lack of clear communication. While Harper is 19, and I can understand her acting more impulsively, Logan is supposed to be the adult in the situation. The lack of honest and straightforward dialogue in some moments made me question his characterization and some of his choices.
Overall, this was a great read. I was engaged from start to finish, and I’m definitely curious to see what the third story will bring!

This book is a combination of forbidden relationship, age gap and off the charge spice. Daddy‘s best friend is really a hit or miss with me as a trope but this one is spot on. Going in knowing Harper works at a club I knew there was going to be spice. The spice and chemistry between Logan and Harper is.🔥🔥🔥🔥. However, the spice is also balanced with emotion, humor, and tender moments. The thing that I loved the best about this book is Harper. She owns who she is. She is confident in what she wants and she doesn’t let anything hold her back. Add this to your TBR, it’s a must read!

This book definitely hit the ground running. The prologue and first few chapters were hot & bothered. Then things slowed down and it was the push and pull of “but we shouldn’t”. I found myself yelling “just do it already!” If you like slow burn and the push / pull then you’ll enjoy it. I’m not a slow burn girlie. I’m also not usually into MF, but the kinks drew me in and I did find the emotional payoff with Harper and Logan’s relationship.
Also you’ll never look at cell phones the same way after reading this.

September 14, 2026I was lucky enough to receive an advanced reader copy of this book and boy am I so lucky I did. HOLY HELL. JESUS CHRIST ALMIGHTY. This wouldn't usually be my type of book at first glance as I rarely read contemporary romance and read very dark romance but I was certainly not disappointed and now I need to read all of Erica's other books right away.
I never really was into dad's best friend trope or food play but I devoured out in this book. Erica Jade wrote this book so beautifully. The slow burn was so worth it and he definitely yearned and earned.
I absolutely loved the humour in this story with Logan. He is the definition of cute, funny and dominant all in one go. That is one man I would definitely take as a book boyfriend. He also knows exactly how to please if you know what I mean. And don't even get me started on that scene where he kissed Ethan. Ooh sweet lord, I could not stop laughing when that happened.
It's hard to pick just one favourite scene in this book as there was so many good ones but I absolutely loved the makeup scene near the end of the book. I also loved the scene at his restaurant where they finally stopped hiding from what they both wanted. It was messy asf for their first time together but so memorable.
Don't even get me started on their chemistry. It was so damn good. You could feel the tension from a mile away. Got me all hot and wanting to scream "JUMP HIM GIRL" all night long. The phone scene sent me straight to heaven and hell simultaneously.
I also loved how confident and sexy Harper was in her body and with her cam and sex club shows. I always was icky about that and not really big on that sort of stuff but the way it was written and shown in the book was truly amazing and beautiful.
I'd love to have been friends with both Harper and Wren as they seem like my type of girls. Logan would definitely be my choice in a man. He just has everything about him that I would love. Dom seems too strict for me and Ethan seems too laid back. Logan is the perfect mix of both. Funny I say that when Logan is portrayed as the kid like one in their trio but that's just my observation. Maybe my opinion will change after reading their books. We'll see.

I love a dad’s best friend romance because it’s just the perfect combination of forbidden, age gap and totally off limits. I should warn you that the spice level is pretty damn high on this one, especially since she’s a cam girl and he’s her biggest fan. There’s so much tension as Logan tries and inevitably fails to maintain that “father’s best friend” boundary with Harper. But man do I not blame him because I love a woman who is confident and owns her sexuality. She seriously enjoys her sex club job and love her for it. She’s such a strong character and Logan compliments her pretty well. There’s so much tension between them as they really figure out their feelings and eventually give in to them. But there were also hilarious and domestic moments that cute through the spice though. Such as Logan cooking while singing and dancing to Taylor Swift. And the guys text messages really got me laughing, because why are 30-40 year olds saying “lmao” regularly in conversations? However as some more critical feedback, the lack of communication between Logan and Harper did piss me off a little and Logan as whole (while he is a sweetheart) wouldn’t fall near my list of top mmcs. I do also think the spice overshadowed some of the major plot points and there the twists in said plot weren’t very shocking. I did enjoy this, but I’d say it’s more of a standard/average fathers best friend romance and give it a 3.5/5

The second book in the Summer of Secrets series, I didn't feel like I had missed anything by not reading the first book.
The story starts off HOT - Harper, a student, is home for the summer and performs from time to time in a sex club. Logan, a chef/restaurant owner and Harper's dad's friend, frequents the club and sees Harper perform. He's instantly attracted to her but tries to stay away once he realises who Harper is.
I had a bit of a hard time with Harper's relatively young age - she's 19 and the solution to many of her issues seems to be to get drunk (which I get when you're 19) - versus Logan's age. At times I just couldn't see what he sees in her, apart from lust. Harper gets angry and upset when she realises that her dad is getting it on with her best friend - also 19 - and doesn't see the similarities in her budding relationship with Logan. This 'blindness' frustrated me a bit, as did her extreme reaction.
BUT - Harper grew on me, Logan I liked from the start and the slow-burn development of their relationship and the inevitable open door spice once they finally get there was pretty sexy and good. The kitchen scene! The mobile phone scene! You'll never look at phones the same again... Also - Erica jade is a master at writing tension.

But here's the thing, the spice is definitely there, but the story is good, too. That's what kept this from being just a spicy read for me. There's an actual story underneath all that heat, and I found myself invested in where Logan and Harper were headed.
This was my first roll in the sheets with Erica Jade, but it definitely won't be my last. I took note of her other books because apparently...Your girl has been missing out! Guess I have some catching up to do.
As for me? I'm off to see what else Erica Jade has written because apparently I've been sleeping on this author.

This book really drove the slow burn romance all the way... but Erica does it in such a way that you still get kink from the start because as a cam girl? Harper is still fulfilling fantasies... and little does she know, Logan is her best paying subscriber...
The slow-burn tension between these characters, the connection that they try to deny and their obsession with each other is intense! And when Logan FINALLY snaps? Damn 🥵 the sparks weren't just sparks, they were a whole damn forest fire!
Now Erica knew about my slight aversion to sitophilia (food play), but she wrote it in such way that it didn't make me cringe while reading so I'm here for it 🔥 But besides all that, who wouldn't want a golden retriever chef who is a simp for his girl???
I've said it before and I'll say it again, if Erica writes it, I'll read it!

I have no words. I don't even know what to say, but let me tell you, the spice was brought early because it started from the prologue, so the heat came VERY quickly. 🔥 I would have to say this book was very hot and spicy, which I absolutely loved.
The relationship between Harper and Logan felt like it was meant to happen. There was no way it wasn't going to occur, especially since Harper is a cam girl and Logan had already seen her doing those scenes live and on camera. I don't think those images were ever going to leave his mind. 😂
The dad's best friend trope? Loved it. I really enjoyed it. And then, of course, at the end, you know what happens—they get caught. It was funny as hell because the dad was PISSED. But if you read the book before this one, you know there really isn't much reason for him to be that upset because you're in the same predicament. The only difference is that your best friend is dating your daughter. But this is fiction, sooo... LMAOOO. 😂

The one thing i absolutely feel guilty for when recieving an ARC is me ending up not liking it much. The summer we crave is a standalone, taboo dad’s best friend romance.
Usually, I am all for taboo, and forbidden love romances, but this one was not able to connect with me. Does not mean the book was bad, it just wasn’t for me. I tried to finish it and not dnf it, and found that it was actually a pretty good story.
There are kinks, taboo stuff, and many other things you’d want to be warned about before diving in though.
I am not rating this book, since I didn’t connect with it as much as I would have wanted. The tropes seemed interesting and i’ll read anything taboo, as long as it’s being written, the author wrote an amazing book, i just wish that readers who love this book can find it and give it some much needed love.

I have discovered a new favorite author with this book! Logan and Harper consumed me in the best ways! Logan is this fun and flirty playboy that seemingly doesnt take anything besides his restaurant too seriously. I loved his vibes and that instantly Harper was different from his typical tendencies. Harper owns her sexuality while still having that tinge of insecurity with Logan that I thought felt relatable. She made me wish I had her confidence but still felt reachable. Their chemistry was pure fire. But they also seemed like they could genuinely enjoy each other and have similar passions leading to being best friends. So the emotional impact wasn't lessened with the spice. Im desperate for more from this world and am thanking myself for picking up book 1 when it was free. If you like a book with tension and asking yourself when are these two going to rip each other to shreds out of lust madness this book is for you! Superbly done!

I am having a hard time describing how I feel about this book...
Not in a bad way. I loved it!!!
It may be the spiciest darn slow burn I have ever read. It's not often a book will give me goose bumps but this one sure did. From the first page I was glued to the pages.
Forget real life, I wanted nothing to do with anyone or anything until I was finished.
The chemistry between Logan and Harper is absolutely electric. I just knew from The Summer we Lie that their story was going to be fantastic. I was not disappointed.
Erica's writing style is smooth and easy to read. He characters are deep and realistic. She has a way with words that make you have a visceral reaction to the emotions. Woooooeeeee the spicy scenes are absolutely DELICIOUS and oh so filthy.
I would pay to experience TSWC and the Summer of Secrets series again for the first time again. I can't wait for Ethan and Wren. I just know it's going to be epic!!!

Erica Jade balances a provocative edge with a plot that delivers instead of just bedazzling the spice like it’s craft night. The chaotic banter, the genuinely funny friendships, and the guys’ text messages? I was laughing out loud. Harper shakes up Logan’s usual patterns, and it’s obvious their connection hits him differently. Their chemistry feels inevitable, and the slow-burning tension between them is undeniably one of the strongest parts of the story. I did struggle a bit with Harper’s character arc. She’s this blend of bold confidence and lingering insecurity, and while she owns her choices, her age and impulsivity sometimes make her reactions feel immature. This was my first introduction to Erica’s work, and it definitely won’t be my last. She hooked me with the chaos, kept me with the chemistry, and now I’m fully committed to seeing what she does next.

This brought me smiles, drama, very spicy content, longing and heartbreak. And I was thrown right in to action, mildly said!
Erica is fantastic with words and I really love the way she writes! That's a big thing for me when reading. The characters are easy to get to know and I love the way she describes the different stages of life and age, since this is about age-gap, and how despite age we are always who we are and that age doesn't really play a big role but is just a number!
The chemistry between Harper and Logan is slow burning until it snaps! Then there is a whole freaking raging volcanic eruption! Sweet lord!!
There was a moment I was so into it that I yelled out: No No NO!!! You might know why when you read it!
In short terms: this is spicy and sweet!

If you’re looking for a very spicy forbidden romance - this is your story. I’ve gone back and forth on how to put into words my review because my mind is blown. Definitely a must read for the summer. FMC Harper and MMC Logan were made for each other, the chemistry these two have is just unreal.
Dad’s best friend - Logan Cross. Logan is possessive in the absolute best way. Anytime Logan and Harper are in the same room the tension is so thick and neither one of them can bear it. Harper and Logan’s ending was really good.
I can’t believe I’ve never read any of Erica’s books before. I will be reading everything she has.

OHHHH MY GOD. I have never been so excited to receive an ARC of a book. Dad's best friend romances are some of my favorite because they're usually steamy, taboo and hidden. The fact that Logan is Harper's secret best paying subscriber and has watched her at the club perform makes this so much more forbidden. He's fighting his attraction to his best friends daughter and failing.
I started this book and realized there must have been a first book pretty quickly so I went back and read that first and while you can read it without that, I think it should be read in order because the back story, the hidden pining, and the sneaking around you start to see in that first book makes book 2 even better.
I have apparently been missing out on Erica Jade so I am off to go read the rest of her backlist and then obsess with her for the next 6 months

The Summer We Crave was such a fun, addictive read! I loved the forbidden age-gap romance, the slow-burn tension, and the chemistry between the characters. The possessive MMC was definitely a highlight for me, and I really enjoyed the confident FMC and all the secrets and drama woven throughout the story.
The forbidden aspect made everything feel even more intense, and I was completely invested in seeing how their relationship would unfold. The chef x cam girl pairing was also such an interesting combination and added a unique twist to the story.

This book hit the ground running from the very first page! The spice level was definitely hitting the mark, and let’s be honest—who doesn’t love a good dad’s best friend, age-gap romance? 🔥
There was so much hilarity, chemistry, and domestication throughout this book. Harper and Logan will have you screaming, “JUST DO IT!” more times than you can count! 😂
Their slow-burn romance will pull you completely into their world, and even when you’re begging for them to finally give in, you’ll enjoy every single minute of the journey.

The storyline is based on Harper and Logan. Logan is Harper's father best friend and he knows he shouldn't see Harper as more than just a young girl. But when Harper shows up at the sex club that he is a member of, all bets are off and Harper becomes his obsession.
Harper has always like Logan more than just a friend and when she sees him at the club watching her perform, she knows they have both stepped over a line they cannot go back to.
This book was amazing with a great storyline, spice was hot as, emotions were everywhere and I will not look at a cellphone again the same way I did before I read the book.
Check this great book out, you won't be disappointed!

Definitely one of my favorite reads so far this year.

I’m a sucker for the forbidden romance and dad’s best friend trope, so this was right up my alley. Logan was so possessive, but in the best way, and you could tell how much he wanted Harper even when he was trying to deny it.
The slow burn was really good too. It gave just enough build-up while still keeping things spicy along the way. And when these two finally gave in… yeah, I was here for it.

Harper is such a badass! She know exactly how she likes things and i think i might be in love...look out Logan 🤣 i love the way she cares deeply for people.
Logan is a smart ass but in the best possible way! I couldn't get enough of his goofiness. I also loved seeing his sweet side come out when he started having feelings for Harper.

I was lucky to be chose for an ARC of this book. All I can say is it is spicy from the get go.
A confident (older) teenager realises a crush she's had on an older gentleman turns much more. Said older gentleman has the exact same feelings, but both withhold due to the situations they find themselves in. There was a lot of will they wont they's ... tension from the start and at some points you felt like screaming oh come on just do it!
I'll never look at squeezy sauces again innocently :P

OH EM GEE!! Best friends dad is my weakness and I absolutely LOVED this!! I am soooo down bad for Logan that I told myself he was the only person who could cure my affinity for mushrooms. This man fell hard and fast! Harper has been in love with Logan for almost her whole life. This spice in this book is chef's kiss.... literally!!! Thank you Erica for this ARC!

I loved the relationship between Logan and Harper and how it developed throughout the book, and I enjoyed the romance with the age difference. I practically finished the book in just a few days because I thought it was a fantastic story. I can't wait for the next book to come out so I can devour it too.
