Sam Alexander is a kid bound by the gravity of a small town and a father whose ridiculous, drunken fairy tales about a "Nova Corps" were just another heavy burden in a life full of them. But luckily for Sam Alexander... soon gravity won't even matter.

So this was my first venture into the Nova part of Marvel as I knew next to nothing about it, but hearing that this is a relaunched series I decided I would like to give it a go and I am very happy that I did so. I actually ended up enjoying this quite a lot, so far it does seem to be a fairly good start point for someone who doesn't know anything about Marvel, but after talking to friends who do already know about Marvel and the Nova's in particular it also seems that it links into the previous volumes and series involving them so there's something for everyone.
I was a little wary going into this as after trying out the new Spider-Gwen a while back (and hating it) I didn't know if this would be a more approachable read for me, but I was happy to discover that the story is modern and fresh and so far it's easy to grasp and be interested in. We follow a young boy called Sam and his father who are both (something which I hear is unusual) Nova's. They have a great relationship (or so it seems from the outside) and they also have some pretty cool superhero suits which enable them to fly and do all sorts of crazy things.
On the whole I think that the relationship between father and son is what most endeared this story and these characters to me because it's a bit more unusual to see in comics, and I liked that that was the approach Marvel decided to take. I also have to say that although the art is not my favourite style, it is a lot nicer than many of the other Marvel comics I have tried in the past and I was very happy to read though it because of that.
So far it's a 3.5* likeable read which has potential so I will certainly be picking up more of the issues and continuing with the series in the hopes of getting deeper into the Marvel universe.
Great art work, but avarage story (I'd say typical, but it's just a beginning, so *fingers-crossed* it gets better). Currently reading 1st volume (that includes this issue as well, of course), so I'll write more thoughts after I finish it.
First thing first. It was through Guardians of the Galaxy 2013's the Black Vortex tie-in that I found out about this series. I did saw it in the recommendations but I didn't pay much attention to it since I only read the famous characters or the one I got interested in recently (after watching a movie). The art, coloring, story line and everything was super awesome that I decided to give it a try. And oh boy was it good! I mean this is the first time I pick up any Marvel superhero just like that and totally fell in love with it.
However, Nova isn't entirely new to me. The first time I saw him was in Disney's Ultimate Spider-man series. His helmet design and even the character himself is almost as close to the comic one. Though there, he was alone without any family and was trained by Rocket Raccoon as his mentor.
Another awkward teenage who becomes a cool hero while live a miserable life. I love how realistic he is. Also, how he started with his dad telling him stories then disappearing and he taking his place and all that stuff. The only thing that annoyed me in this issue is Gamora's nudity. I can't really call that an outfit or anything. Like seriously, it's just some strips and looked horrible almost disgusting. Though I have to say she is prettier in this comic, maybe cause they added the earrings and changed her hair style with adding bangs. Other than that, all is awesome 5 stars.
