James P. "Jim" Starlin is an American comic book writer and artist. With a career dating back to the early 1970s, he is best known for "cosmic" tales and space opera; for revamping the Marvel Comics characters Captain Marvel and Adam Warlock; and for creating or co-creating the Marvel characters Thanos and Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu. Death and suicide are recurring themes in Starlin's work: Personifications of Death appeared in his Captain Marvel series and in a fill-in story for Ghost Rider; Warlock commits suicide by killing his future self; and suicide is a theme in a story he plotted and drew for The Rampaging Hulk magazine.

In the mid-1970s, Starlin contributed a cache of stories to the independently published science-fiction anthology Star Reach. Here he developed his ideas of God, death, and infinity, free of the restrictions of mainstream comics publishers' self-censorship arm, the Comics Code Authority. Starlin also drew "The Secret of Skull River", inked by frequent collaborator Al Milgrom, for Savage Tales #5 (July 1974).

When Marvel Comics wished to use the name of Captain Marvel for a new, different character,[citation needed] Starlin was given the rare opportunity to produce a one-shot story in which to kill off a main character. The Death of Captain Marvel became the first graphic novel published by the company itself. (

In the late 1980s, Starlin began working more for DC Comics, writing a number of Batman stories, including the four-issue miniseries Batman: The Cult (Aug.-Nov. 1988), and the storyline "Batman: A Death in the Family", in Batman #426-429 (Dec. 1988 – Jan. 1989), in which Jason Todd, the second of Batman's Robin sidekicks, was killed. The death was decided by fans, as DC Comics set up a hotline for readers to vote on as to whether or not Jason Todd should survive a potentially fatal situation. For DC he created Hardcore Station.

Why did they make the MCU Thanos so boring?

This Thanos is passionate, maniacal, and terrifying. The MCU's is frankly kind of a drip.

I don't think I'm exaggerating in saying that this issue in particular succeeds at everything Infinity War (and the Thanos elements of Endgame) failed at. It's Thanos's frustrated lust after Mistress Death and his consequent hubris that potentially opens the door to his downfall, all of which is far more interesting for a villain than the fairly passive conditions of his failure in the MCU.

Furthermore, the odds really do feel oppressive to our heroes in a way that I don't know that the MCU ever expressed all that well. Things do feel extremely dire here, and the action is compelling.

Also, I think Eros's narration adds a wonderfully literary dimension to all of this, and I continue to find the art completely entrancing.

The battle has begun. A multi-faceted attack.

Thanos, in an effort to win over Death, has reduced his powers. His thinking is that Death, a woman, will be impressed with his battle win if there is a chance of him losing. Of course, the chance is 0.05%.

The battle ensues. The superheros do a good job, but the reality is that Thanos is too powerful at every level. The cosmic supremes are waiting to enter. Warlock shoos them away.

After Silver Surfer's failed attack, it is now time for Warlock. He's afraid his battle may be the end of the universe. We shall see.

Some of the art here is impressive.

Round one: Thanos

This is for the action junkies, like me
Of course it didn't make sense that the heroes go in blindly without any kind of plan, I'm looking at you Captain America and Cyclops.
And Thanks falling for the word of a devil, sure, let's go!!!
Besides, we all knew the outcome, going in....
Let's bring on round 2!!!!!!

This is where the story starts to get a bit wobbly for me, because it is dealing with themes that are outside the realm of human experience, and are hard to identify with. Nevertheless, still entertaining.

Interesante el desarrollo de la lucha contra Thanos en la cual intervienen todos los X-Men, y además la manera en la cual se desarrolla el conflicto. Habrá algo de esto en la escuela de la Infinity War?

They did it! The writers found a way for earth’s heroes to actually standing a fighting (0.05%) chance: Thanos unfreezes them from time so that he may once again, try to win the heart of Mistress Death, this time by exhibiting raw courage.

Dördüncü fasikül çok iyi. Sebebi hem Thanos elindeki muhteşem güç ile Avengers ekibini güle oynaya, doya doya pataklıyor. Sanki karıncalarla oynuyormuş gibi oynuyor.

Good, and with high death toll among our heroes as Adam Warlock's plan unfolds.
His time in the Soul Gem made him quite in tune with the universe but also a bit on the sociopathic side.
