In "I Still Want It", Derrick Jaxn delivers a life-changing collection of poems immersed in raw, passionate, but brave vulnerability. Dark truths of his lustful past, revelations during his ongoing battle with heartbreak, and empowering words of wisdom leave readers with a renewed faith in a love they may have lost hope in finding. His signature way with words seasons all 178 pages of "I Still Want It" which will not only evoke a cocktail of emotions but leave the unforgettable and gratifying taste that Derrick is known for in his previous titles.
A man is as a man does; not says, hopes, or promises. Derrick Jaxn (Jackson), a native of Enterprise, Alabama, found his purpose in his exceptional ability to impact lives by relating to others through the written world. The former student athlete turned author and spoken word poet grew up as the youngest of 5 in a single parent household. Jaxn witnessed his mother overcome life threatening illnesses while working multiple jobs, which would later become the catalyst in his drive to impose a standard of excellence, logic, and originality on a world dictated by blind conformity. Derrick Jaxn founded a non-profit teen mentoring organization Team Jaxn, won national and multiple conference football championships in the SIAC as a tight end for Tuskegee University, and beat the Generation Y statistics of being underemployed or not employed at all by garnering a sales position within a Fortune 500 company immediately following graduation. While those who know Derrick all agree that his story is nothing short of inspirational the former Sales and Marketing major obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree from the College of Business and Information Science from one of the most well noted historically black colleges and universities and shortly after penned his first novel “A Cheating Man’s Heart”. For Derrick the real work has just begun. In less than 60 days his debut novel “A Cheating Man’s Heart” maintains a 5-star Amazon rating, has over 300 reader reviews and remains in the top #25 in genre fiction/biographical on Kindle and genre fiction/urban life in paperback books. Over 500 comments from readers are posted sharing how his book has entertained, encouraged and informed about relationships. In a short amount of time, Derrick has elevated his personal blog http://www.derrickjaxn.com from being a diary of thought and perspective, to a lifestyle platform that has garnered him over 100,000 social media followers and friends. Popular articles such as "12 Things She Wishes You Understood" and "The Wake Up Call, Sincerely Trayvon Martin" have been shared among social network users over 75,000 times each. Derrick Jaxn is an authentic voice with unwavering ambition, and boundless potential to be one of the most influential men among millennials. He is ‘one to watch’.

I am not the biggest fan of poetry just because I have never really been into. However, I admire those who have the talent and creative mind to write such beautiful and meaningful words. I finished this book in 2 days which I could have done in one. If you want some real honest truth and encouragement this is a must read. I wish Derrick Jaskson all the success he deserves. Keep it up and please continue to follow your dreams and passions!
"Thank you for loving yourself/ as a middle finger to society."
Yes. This book was deeply emotional, and really well written verse. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and so would anyone looking for a modern romantic. Addressing all the finer points of what we have wrong about relationships, and those of us that might just have it right.
This book has told my story from start to finish but not quite in this order. It a m axes me that a man can know what women go through and what we are willing to go through until we finally see the proverbial light. You did an excellent job and I pray God continue to bless your words that we may all get to see.
Whoa. Intense and somewhat steamy. I think poetry does one of these things: it speaks to you, it doesn't speak to you, or you just understand how it speaks to others. This book was ALL of those.
It was good at first, I loved the writing and then suddenly the writing became complete shit and I just didn’t like the rest after the first few pages. I thought it would be good then it just had a down spiral.
Unable to cancel $37/month subscription. Website links to a bogus site for cancellations. Derrick Jaxon has been billing my debit card since November 2019 of $37/month. I have been attempting to cancel the subscription; however, there is no way to contact the company. There is a link on the website on which one is to click to cancel the subscription or send an email to cancel the subscription, but it is a bogus link. It comes up as unavailable. I am trying to stop the monthly payments
Whom It May Concern
Please be aware that this product, called the Self Crowned Gold VIP membership (free trial) 29.99/ month with a 14 day trial, is at the very least tricky and at the most could be construed misleading.
I was pleased to find it, because it states that:.
If a person signs up for a free membership and cancels before the 14 day trial, the new member will not be charged if done within that time period. I followed the instructions on how to cancel the membership by submitting information at https://www.youvecometoofartoquitonyo....
The advertising advises the following:
"Cancellation requests submitted at least 72 hours before billing period will not be charged, IF it is during the 72 hours before free trial period has ended FOR FULL REFUND FOR SHIPPING COST." Terms and conditions- Self Crowned with Derrick Jaxn.
Happy with the promise, I tried it out and quit after 20 minutes, informing the company that I was cancelling.
I was told that because I used the membership and/ or signed in that "Google was not willing to refund my account after finding that I had actually used the service." If you logged into the application, you used the service, regardless if it was during the trial or not so there actually was no lie on our end." Derrick Jaxn staff and/or Derrick Jaxn.
It is obvious that this company did not notify Google of their promise, which smacks of misrepresentation or falseness in advertising.
This entire statement contradicts the notion of free membership is. Obviously, signing in or up for trial membership doesn't mean that you are supposed to be charged, based solely on their wording. Free is free, and the idea that it IS free is in the context that the trial will convince you the membership is something you would want.
This brings us to the second point. After saying I owe them under a free membership == the company replied that my account wasn't found. Then how can they say I was even a member? Because it was a TRIAL MEMBERSHIP. The company then tells me I should have canceled -- in a Google play store -- yet that process was not offered in its ad. This hook 'em and hold 'em process should be noted.
Google agent wrote: Google Play store just acts as a storefront to all the third party apps, only the app developer will have access to the app server and payments
In “I Still Want It”, Derrick Jaxn gives us a look into his past that was full of lust and heartbreak. He shows his raw emotions, bringing tears to most, and hits home real hard. But his messages help heals you. “I Still Want It” leaves your heart feeling a little less broken by piecing it back together with its words. Jaxn reassures you that it is important to be mature when going through heartbreak in this book. On page 54, he says, “When walking away from someone means walking towards your true potential, take that step every time.” I read this book when I was going through a rough patch, I didn’t know whether to stay or to walk away and when I read this quote, it felt as if God himself was talking to me. I had to be mature and walk away from a situation that didn’t benefit me anymore. Another quote that I really liked was on page 64, Jaxn said, “When you truly love someone, you want the best for their future. Even if it won’t include you.” This really touched me because people always say that they want what is best for somebody, but wanting what is best for them even if it does not include takes it to a whole different level. You mature and realize that not everybody you love is going to be in your life forever. Jaxn has a sense of comforting in these quotes, helping you realize that it is not going to last forever and that is okay. “I Still Want It” presents you with a less broken heart than you started with. There is a saying that goes, “Love yourself before you love anyone else.” Jaxn uses his words to emphasize this in his book. One of my favorite quotes from “I Still Want It” is, “Know when people are down for you, and when people are down for what you can do for them.” Sometimes a guy will just keep you around because he likes always having someone to fall back on. Well in this book, it gives you a wakeup call. Jaxn also said, “Be willing to sacrifice anyone who’s causing you to sacrifice yourself to love them.” This really speaks volume to me. That you should not love someone more than you love yourself and that if someone truly loves you, they will not make you choose. “I Still Want It”, leaves you with more knowledge about heartbreak and self-love. Jaxn uses his own personal experiences to give advice to help others, which he does. I recommend this book for anyone going through a heartbreak. Even though it will not leave you with a mended heart, it sure does glue a couple of pieces back together
I picked this up for a quick read. After the first few pages, I thought that it sounded a lot like "Instagram poetry" and when I looked up the author, it made a lot sense. It comes off as someone who trying to be woke trying to "empower" women or claims to be a feminist, but has a very limited and narrow view of how to actually do that. For example, lines like : "You're only collecting emotional scars by freely giving your body when waiting's too hard" or "Real niggas want a girl who only rolls weed and shakes her ass. Real men need a woman who's conscious and has class." The poems about race were slightly better and the opening wasn't bad either, but overall, comes across like something you'd hear at a high school open mic.
Hands down, this book was awesome Truth be told, when I started reading some reviews before deciding whether or not 'I still want it' was worth it, I couldn't help but notice people disliked it for the way of writing, for his style. Surprisingly, I enjoyed it. It was somewhat of rap combined with poetry, which I have never encountered before. More, he talked in such a unique way about love and racial problems, which, is to be appreciated. He has potential, that's why I want to read more from him.
In the beginning, I thought this was really good; like really really good. But... Yeah no. At the en, Jaxn started writing about 'other girls' in what came off as a derogatory way. At the end of the poem, he says that that's not what he meant, but... yeah. It left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. He also kept writing about how the man leads the relationship but needs input from the woman. Not exactly want I stand for but okay.
Overall, I liked I'd say 80% of the poems, and would recommend to most people. It's just a couple that I didn't really enjoy the subject matter of.
I came across this book on amazon and I wanted to read after reading the reviews. I am glad I did! Any women who have been through ups and downs of relationships would enjoy and can relate to this book.
Please Read! You will find yourself at times, smiling, laughing, smirking, and sitting up in your bed because the words, have you feeling like you on the dance floor.....Vibing. This book is a nice gift. Great Job Derrick!
I loved the concept, and the first few poems, but then they resonated with me less and less as the pages went on. At first the work felt generally supportive, but it devolved into what felt to me like mansplaining.
So many people loved it, though. And I recognize that I am not the audience.
This was a great book from start to finish. I look forward to reading more from this author. He is real and he gives it to his readers straight!!! Keep up the good work and keep bringing that fire for your readers.
I really related to the poems even though they were told from a man’s perspective. I think others will gain some insight into their own thoughts and feelings if they read these poems.
Raw, original thoughts. I was hungry for the words after listening to the sample. It was unfair to hope the entire piece would resonate, but I did and it didn’t. Still, it was enjoyable and I know specific people I could recommend this piece to and they’d also enjoy.
There were so many moments that I was underlining and appreciating! I follow Derrick on various social media platforms and was able to hear his voice reading the poems! Loved it!
Poems that speak to the heart and break down relationships. A must read for anyone whose heart has been hurt, broken or you just may want to understand why
