THE SCRIBE (republished in October 2024 as THE LAWYER) and THE ABDUCTION (republished in February 2025 as THE PARTNER), published by LUME BOOKS in July and December 2019, are her first crime book series, plunging readers into London’s glamorous legal world and featuring series’ heroine, Maddy Kramer, fiction’s first female City lawyer amateur sleuth, who teams up with charismatic DCI Jake Carver to solve a gruesome series of murders and a puzzling abduction. THE SCRIBE and THE ABDUCTION were published as audio books by Isis Audio on 1st January and 1st March 2021, both read by David Thorpe.
She has also contributed an original short story THE ENCOUNTER to crime anthology GIVEN IN EVIDENCE published by LUME BOOKS in May 2020, has written many articles and short stories for The Crime Writers’ Association.
Her first psychological thriller with HERA BOOKS, SHE’S MINE, was published in e-book, paperback and audio in August 2021, the second, THE LOYAL FRIEND, was published in all three formats in June 2022 and published in the USA by Canelo US on 20th June 2023. Her third, THE FINAL PARTY, was published in e-book and paperback on May 25th 2023. and released in audiobook on 1st February 2024.
Her fourth psychological thriller - UNDER HER ROOF - was released in e-book, paperback and audio on 13th June 2024. THE SCHOOL GATES will be published on 5th June 2025.

Fallon and her husband, Simon, agree to a Home Swap in the hopes of fixing their somewhat rocky marriage. On the week of their 10th anniversary, they head to London to celebrate, but the trip is already tainted as each has received some oddly disturbing messages before arriving at the Garlands', putting them both on edge. The getaway is nothing like what either of them had imagined; someone has it out for Fallon, but who could be threatening her, Simon, and their daughter Rose, and why?
I am always overjoyed, to say the least, when A. A. Chaurhuri offers to send me a copy of her newest release. Each one so far has been full of secrets, lies, violence and crime, and The Home Swap is no different.
Right off the bat, the prologue is violent, messy, and intriguing. Prologues usually build tension and mystery, but this one had me locked in immediately by doing just that, but in a very impactful way. Something about Chaudhuri's writing really sets the tone perfectly, no matter the topic.
What I really loved and appreciated when reading this book was Chaudhuri's incredible ability to seamlessly swap from past to present. While a character thinks about one thing, I found myself reading about their past almost without noticing. In a book where the past is equally as important as the present, the switch back and forth was not too frequent, nor was it pointless. It was as smooth as butter.
Even when Fallon, who is originally from Ireland, was speaking from a teenage point of view (POV), said 'Da' instead of father or dad, showing not only how much she has changed from her teenage years by not speaking in an Irish dialect anymore, but that Chaudhuri doesn't half know how to write.
Getting to know the characters was also a phenomenal experience. I don't think I have read a book with so many POVs, but I loved it. Not only did we see things from Fallon's perspective (both past and present), but we saw things from her husband Simon's view, their Daughter Rose, as well as the mystery person focusing their attention on Fallon and her family.
At the start of each of Chaudhuri's books, you begin to wonder what the characters could've possibly done to warrant being stalked or harrassed, or even if that's the case.
Each character's POV invited more and more questions, and as a result, I read more and more. What is Fallon hiding, if anything? Did she do something, or was something done to her? The masterful writing invites questions, but also leads you down a path to where you know you'll find the answer, but it is likely to be nothing like you expect.
Every POV has a stark purpose. And, to say there are a lot of them, each character we hear from is so well-rounded, so well flushed out that I simply couldn't get enough.
Moving on to the plot, I had an inkling what was going on, but, as usual, Chaudhuri has her incredible ways of rocking the earth and throwing me in a totally different direction.
The plot was something completely new, as two couples swap homes but have no idea what's in store once they arrive. Chaudhuri took every opportunity to build a fantastic narrative, create tension like no one else can, and turn a simple house swap into a nightmare.
Fallon and her husband are both being targeted, and my thought was always about what they could have done, what secret could Fallon possibly be hiding, and what does this mystery person know?
As their week in London clings to hope for a normal staycation, it is evidently clear that Fallon is hiding something, Simon doesn't know who to trust, and not everyone is who they seem.
Her talent to include so many POVs as well as so many swaps from past to present is just phenomenal. We are not simply told the story; we are taken to the exact moment it happens, and we watch as the heinous and shocking acts take place.
Fallon is the perfect character to lead this story, and having Simon, Rose and other characters tell their stories as well was just so much fun to read.

While I could go on forever, I will simply say that there is nothing like a good thriller, but then there are A. A. Chaudhuri's thrillers.

From there, Fallon receives threatening messages and life begins to spiral out of control. Through multiple POVs, we uncover more about Fallon’s past, her thoughts, and the secrets surrounding her life.
This was a fantastic psychological thriller, packed with twists and turns right through to the end. I really enjoyed the characters and their emotional vulnerability, the family dynamics felt raw and believable, while some of the other characters were utterly toxic, with increasingly precarious and unbalanced behaviour.
Around halfway through, I did start to predict where some of the story was heading, but honestly, that didn’t matter because the ending still got me! There were enough twists and revelations to keep me hooked, and I thoroughly enjoyed this psychological, twisty thriller.

This book completely lives up to the description from the publisher. It a heady mix of narcissism, coercive control, and physical and sexual abuse, with mental illness and the impact of strict religious views in a changing world thrown in.
The pace is relentless, as is the tension throughout. There are lots of twists and turns and plenty of surprises. The two couples each have secrets in their pasts that get gradually revealed or else exposed.
It's an easy to read book though i kept putting it dow for a few minutes to let the impact of the revelations sink in. A. A. Chaudhuri has produced a fine piece of work, and I shall. Look forward to reading more of her books.

This was a fast-paced thriller featuring some truly unlikeable characters and a rather uncomfortable plot. At one point, I was seriously considering DNF’ing, but I persevered and there were some interesting twists later in the story that added a little more depth and kept me invested.
Ultimately, though, this one wasn’t quite for me. Some of the smaller details got under my skin a little too much and affected my overall enjoyment.
That said, this is very much a personal reaction, as there are plenty of positive reviews from readers who clearly connected with the story far more than I did.

Fallon and her husband desperately need a break. Rose, Fallon's beloved stepdaughter arranges a house swap. From the moment they go to the luxury mansion, things go wrong. Fallon knows that someone is watching, and is concerned about Rose's safety.
This is a decent psychological thriller, told in several POV's, and timelines. There are several twists, some are predictable, but the twist in the Epilogue is massive.
Who would have thought that Colleen had a heart? Not me.
Toxic characters, unstable characters and some emotional scenes, I am sure fans of this genre will love this book. Did I mention the massive twist?
Solid 4 star read.

Whilst this was an enjoyable read, I also felt the main plot was very predictable, so muh so, that I had to wonder why it took the characters so long to catch up.
I did enjoy finding out the little details, and figuring out exactly who had done what and why.
There was also at least one great surprise.
I enjoyed the writing style, and felt it flowed really well.
Fallon, Simon and Rose were good characters that I could get on with, the rest, not so much. 😀

Thank you Joffe Books and NetGalley for an early copy of The Home Swap. Very interesting plot, it did take me awhile to get into it though. I did like the main characters, they were a good family who forgave one another and believed in one another. I thought I knew what was going on but then there were twist after twist. I felt very bad for Tristan, poor thing had it tough. The very ending was WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!!!

This was a new author for me and I was quickly drawn into the book. It’s billed as a totally addictive psychological thriller and it certainly lived up to that. Family secrets, lies, revenge and a fabulous plot twist had me completely hooked and the twist at the end was brilliant. Thank you to NetGalley, Joffe Books and the author for the chance to review.

Finished the ARC from NetGalley and actually enjoyed this book. It was an interesting story about a couple who do a home swap and find themselves being harassed by a stranger. While it was a little predictable at times, what thriller isn’t when you read so many of them? I’ll definitely check out more books by this author.
