Mindy's mother and step-father think she's doing her homework, but in reality she's taken Kick-Ass on as her sidekick and training him up to punch, shoot and stab... just like Daddy would have wanted.

I love the Kick-Ass series; it's a love letter to comics, and is one of the most original books to come out in a while. If you're a fan of the foul-mouthed teenage superhero absurdity of those books, you'll find more to love in this mini series focusing on the little assassin who is arguably the real star of the Kick-Ass universe. Mark Millar is an incredibly creative guy with comics in his blood, and the bloke knows how to tell a fun, fucked up story. Unsurprisingly, Romita's art is equal parts beautiful and brutal, and it fits the series so well; I can't imagine any other artist drawing this series.
The only reason this book is getting 3 stars instead of 4 is, as I've come to expect from Millarworld books, someone fell asleep while copyediting. The writing is tight, but there are a handful of mistakes, such as missing words. It's not a huge deal, but just not what I expect from a professional book like this.
If you're a Kick-Ass fan, you can't miss this series. Go pick it up.
I was actually not much impressed with the Kick-ass saga, but this extra number was instead more pleasant to read. Nice with some more insight on the feelings from Mandy and her background. Still it is a bit too violent for my taste, but in a sense, in this volume, it seems more like a sarcastic exaggeration than a description of reality.
This story takes place between Kick-Ass and Kick-Ass 2 as Mindy McCready tries to settle into life as a regular school-girl, but wants nothing more to be dispensing hot justice to the scum of New York City.
When I was a kid I wanted to be Hit Girl. I still do.
Hit Girl is utterly badass.
The plot is expected to happen. Plus Christopher's side story is hilarious, I feel a bit sorry for him.
I am so happy that this comic exists. I love kick-ass, and these stories are just the perfect remedy to quench my thirst for more hit girl action.
